Lyndsey

Liz w/ Lyndsey & London

Lyndsey is resting and doing well. She ate all her dinner. And used the indoor pee pad twice already!
Have a great night, Cathie! Liz

Update 7/17/10:Hey there! Lyndsey is settling in and seems to be healing well. Today she played with a squeaky toy - fast learner! She hasn't pooped yet. I might give her some canned pumpkin tonight if she hasn't had a bowel movement by then. London is definitely asserting herself as the alpha, in a healthy normal way so far. London tries to put her paw or head on top of Lindsey's neck to show dominance. Then Lyndsey hip-checks London. I plan let them work it out as long as there is no safety risk to either pup. Lyndsey is showing a few alpha traits too. She rubs her hips against furniture to leave her scent. And lots of marking in the house (even if she just peed on the peepad)! When she squats and lifts her leg to mark, I redirect her to the peepad. And give lots of praise and treats for going on the peepad. Have any other tips to discourage marking? Hope all is well with the 3 new dogs you are getting today!
Liz

Update 7/20/10:i Cathie, Lyndsey is still doing very well!  Just like you said, she is an active, playful girl.  Very funny to watch her romping around, entertaining herself.  She is still somewhat skittish like she was for you, but definitely warming up to being touched and picked up. Loves massages.  I think her confidence will continue to grow over time.  We are working on teaching her name, as well as "Watch Me", "Sit", and housetraining.  So far the dogs are doing really well together.  London is asserting herself as the alpha (putting her head and paws on top of Lyndsey, nipping at Lyndsey's legs and neck, and claiming the area closest to me).  Lyndsey is tolerating it very well, not even nipping or pawing back. Only minor concern is Lyndsey is still dragging her butt on the ground a few times each day.  Like you said, it could be from the spay.  I will keep an eye on it for a few days and mention it to the vet on Thursday afternoon if it's still happening. She is really a joy to have in the house!  Will continue to keep you updated. Liz

Batman & Robin now Lewis & Clark

Cathie, I'm going to send you a photo on your phone from my phone that you may not believe.  About an hour ago, I was out on our lawn with B and R who have met a lot of people and a lot of dogs today.  My friend Allison was there with her Yorkie, Winston who came over and sniffed and B and R sniffed back and they all had a good nuzzle.  Then Allison sat down and B and R just climbed into her lap and sat there!  So much for socializing!  I'm thrilled with these little guys-- such fun, so loving and curious and lively.  What a match!  Thanks,
Penny

Update7/17/10:in the name sweepstakes-- Lewis (formerly Batman)& Clark (Robin) it is!  I'm delighted and everyone else loves the names as well!  My vet was here this morning and says these little guys are healthy and adorable.  She wondered if they had had distemper shots prior to the ones they got on July 8, and also if they had bordatella vaccine.  I'm completely thrilled with them.  Every day, they are a little more relaxed and increasingly social with both people and other dogs. I also wondered if I could add my name as a contact for the microchips and do I need to notify the chip folks about the change of name? Cathie, you've been a terrific help with all of this.  I will certainly be sending people in your direction if they are looking for a small dog (or two!) And I'll keep in touch with pix of these guys!
Cheers,
Penny

Austin

Beverly, her granddaughter Sophie w/Austin & a friend

Kerri,  You under estimated this little fellow. Very active, runs around the house like he owns it. So far he goes pee outside and did a bm outside in the a.m.   He's eating very little.  I bought him an edible small bone.  He went his bed and ate half of it.  He goes in & out of the crate. I put him in the crate to sleep, he woke up about 3:a.m., I put him on my bed,  he slept here all nite in every position you can imagine. He seems very comfortable here.  Friends came to see him. He went to them and sat with them. He's not a watch dog. We're enjoying him. Right now he's on the couch watching tv.  He went walking today and seemed to enjoy it.  He checks out everything. Don't worry about him. I'll keep you updated. Bev

Chaz now Chad

Mollie

Mollie & Sasha (also adopted from Yorkies Inc.)

Hello Cathie, I was so happy to see Sasha so happy yesterday.  She is such a great girl. Mollie did wonderful after you left. It is like she has always been here. Mollie missed 1 time so far in the bathroom training. It only gets better from here.  Mollie took her spot on the bed. Walter's side. Which made him so Happy. As he tells me Mollie is HIS dog. Go figure.  She slept the night, Sasha got everyone up this morning for 6am. What a good girl huh. The 2 of them took a mid morning nap together in bed.  And they do play great together. Mollie takes food and or treats away from Sasha, and Sasha just lets her and comes over to me for more. Good thing Cheerios are great healthy treats.  Both girls like the dry dog food you brought for us to try. Maybe I will mix it with the Solid gold dry? Mollie is bonding so much with Walter, right now the 2 of them are sleeping in his recliner. As Sasha is on my lap. So Mollie and Sasha are lap dogs for sure.  Mollie fit right in, as you knew she would. And to think I was scared they would fight.....Thank you again for another beautiful baby, I will send you up dated photos. We will see you soon. Love Sasha & Mollie, & Brenda & Walter. My Mom & Dad will get to meet Mollie tomorrow, I will let you know how we all do.  Just rest a little bit as you know both are in good hands. Brenda

Tracey and Jillie

7/20/10:She is doing great! She is such a happy little dog we love her! I am feeding her wellness she really likes that I get it at The Weymouth Dog shop. I will fax her spay cert. and vaccine records tomorrow afternoon she is staying at the hospital for pain meds and eye drops she looks great I am so glad that dermoid is gone she was always itching at it! Again, I can't thank you enough for bringing us together!
 Tracey

Note: Tracey is a Certified Vet Tech at the VCA Weymouth where we brought Suri for her initial eye exam. We were referred to their Ophthamologist Dr Greentree and Tracey happens to be Dr Greentree's assistant. Tracey instantly feel in love with Suri and asked about adopting her and taking over the responsibilities of her pending surgery and spay. We felt this was a perfect situation for Suri because of post operative care and should she be bothered by another cyst in the future. Thank you Tracey for helping us get Suri the care she needed.

Princess

Peter w/Jack & Linda w/Princess

Hi Kathy, Princess is a full -fledged member of the family.  She appears to have moved right in without a care.  She loves the yard, especially my flowers.  Jack has not warmed up to her, but I think he suffers from green-eyed jealousy.  She is just wonderful.  She has latched on to me and follows me all around.  Our first night together she hopped into bed with Jack and me, and she slept the night curled up in my arm.  Night two went the same way.  She sleeps in bed until we get up, never bothering us.  It's like she's always been with us.  Family came for a visit on Monday evening, and she loved them, playing and entertaining everyone.  They fell in love with her.  I was on the website and noticed a little shi tzu.  I fell for her.  Let me know if she doesn't get adopted.  Thank you so much for all you do for our little canine friends and especially for Princess.  She is just perfect.  Any time you'd like to visit, just call.  As Princess' foster mom, you are always welcome.  Call at the right time and a home cooked Italian dinner may be in the offing.  Again, thank you and please keep in touch.

Linda

Chewy

Cathie, here are some photos of Chewy with Blizzard (bunny), Dixie, and in his new home environment. He has adapted beautifully to his new home and his new family. We love him. He is well behaved and is really a great dog. He has been great with nieces and nephews, sleeps through the night and is keeping Dixie entertained. We all feel very lucky to have him as part of our family. Thank you very much.
The Healey's

Domino now Pepper

Hi Lydia, It was so nice to meet you and your crew yesterday. Domino had a great drive home.  She's great in the car, probably the best dog I have ever seen in a car, especially for a 2.5 hour drive!  What an angel.  We got home and the storms had passed, so we took a walk, but she decided to wait until we got into the house to pee, which I knew she would...it was typical and expected. We just cleaned it up and proceeded to get to know one another. She immediately went to my husband and gave him kisses and jumped up on his lap and stayed for a while, then she came back and sat on the couch with me...we cuddled and bonded. She really is sweet as can be! She wouldn't eat last night or drink anything. I fed her a few kibbles from my hand, but she wanted nothing to do with it, so I didn't push her. I know when she's ready she will eat and drink. At bedtime we went upstairs, I put her blanket on the floor next to my side of the bed and also I invited her on the bed. She was a bit nervous so I didn't make a big deal of it. I let her do what she wanted...So she went back downstairs and slept on the couch where we had been cuddling.  She never made a peep all night. I checked on her twice and she was sound asleep in a ball in the corner of the couch. In the morning I went down and took her for a walk, but again, she didn't pee or poop.. although 45 mins ago she went in the house...lol I know it'll take some time to get her to know what's what around here, but I'm not worried, she'll be fine. She sure is easy going and such a love bug.  So far she already seems pretty happy and loves lying by the sliding door and listening to the birds and watching them fly by. Plus sitting with me and giving kisses and getting lots of love all to herself. Right now she is by the slider and every minute or so she walks over to see what I'm doing.  I give her a kiss and she goes back to watch the birds..hehehe.. So amazingly sweet and loving. She didn't eat this morning again, but I gave her a treat and then she did drink some water, so that is good. Most of my fosters in the past didn't eat for the first day or two, so I'm not worried yet.  My Princess was so bad when I first got her years ago.  She sat in the corner of the couch with her head stuck in the cushions for days.  I had to feed her in my lap on the couch and carry her outside to pee and poop.  She was so afraid of everything, but by a week or so, she was eating in the kitchen and walking around like she owned the place. It takes time and I'm not worried about anything...Domino is responding to my calls and attention very well and is loving it.  I think in just a few days she'll be on a nice schedule and loving her new home to the fullest. Thanks again and I will be in touch very soon.
Best,
Michele

Update: Hi Cathie and Kerri, I wanted to write to say THANK YOU so much for allowing my family and I to adopt Domino.  We have changed her name to Pepper and she seems to like it.  The color of her body is like pepper and she makes cute little sneezing noises when she plays or is really excited, so we felt it suited her nicely. Pepper has been adjusting really well.  We all love her very much...and she seems to love us right back!  She is so sweet and adorable with everyone! She is a little cuddler and loves to play too.  She is well balanced and just a joy to have around.  I never thought she'd fit in so perfectly, so quickly! The only issue is the potty training, but I know in time she'll get that.  She's a smart little one and she has made our house a very happy place to be! Thanks again!!!  You ladies are wonderful! Keep up the great work! Best regards,
Michele and family

update 6/14/10:We are madly in love with our Pepper (previously Domino).  She is so fun, sweet and lovable!! I can't imagine being without her now. She has added so much laughter and joy to our lives.  I'm convinced that Pepper was meant for us!! Thanks again, for everything. Best regards,
Michele

Bandit

Gina w/ Bandit & Tommy w/ Pumpkin

Nico

Mojo w/Kane & Nico /Bridgitte

Hi Kerri, Nico is doing great he is settling into his new home. Nico has been enjoying car rides and walks around the beach with his partner in crime, Mojo. Nico has conquered his fear of stairs and likes spending time outside playing in the yard and basking in the sun. Nico is also quite a snuggle bunny, he loves to sit on the couch with me and my son having his belly rubbed. He has been  a great addition to the family. Thanks so much for letting us adopt him.

Thanks, Bridgitte, Kane and Mojo

Rosie

Rosie back & Lola front

5/16/10:  Rosie is very good for Lola as they both love to play.  She is having a ball up here: she climbed her first mountain yesterday. We walked 3 miles and Lola and Rosie did about 6! We are going for a 3 mile walk today but on a flat surface.  While Simon came with us yesterday, he will probably stay home today. Her training seems to be coming along but slowly.  It is like she was trained to go inside...:-)...! We met Joe at the park and told him that we were fostering Rosie. By the time we got around two people had asked me if they could adopt her!  Yes she is a hit!
R
I am sure she has found her forever home! Her house training is getting better everyday (as is everything else) so I think that she will be fully trained in a month or so.  She does use the mat that we put her food on as a pp pad.  I am thinking about ways to get her over that. I took them to Stoddard's this AM where they all played  with the other dogs.  They came home, ate and went back to bed....:-)...I am going to check on them now.  They are far too quiet!
R

Gina

Gina & Snow

Hi Cathie, We found the perfect home for Gina…ours! She is wrapped around our necks! Will you allow us to adopt her?(foster moms) Sherry & Susan

Cathie, Thank you so much for welcoming us to the Yorkies Inc. family. We are proud to be part of the organization. It seems like once we declared Gina was a member of our family, she knew immediately! We have been spending the day outdoors tidying up and Gina has been having a ball! Hugs, Sherry, Susan & Gina too!

Sherry w/Gina "wrapped around her neck" (her favorite spot)

Update 5/25/10:Hi Cathie, I’m happy to report that Gina had her vet visit today. The people in the waiting room loved her and there was another Yorkie for her to check out. Susan said she went right up on her neck when the vet went to examine her. She doesn’t mind me looking in her ears at all. However, she was not crazy about the vet looking into them. She has a clean bill of health and weighs 11 lbs. We adore Gina. She fits in our household so well. She still has some potty accidents which I am hoping we can straighten out in time. She loves running outdoors and doing what I call her “hill walk”. She is fun to play with yet she amuses her self with her toys too. I plan on taking some pictures, just waiting for her hair to grown a little. lol We need your address to send out the check.

Sherry & Susan, Gina & Snow

Charlie now Casey

Stephen w/Lily & Elin w/Charlie now Casey

Kerri, Charlie is doing fantastic. My husband and I would like to call "Charlie 2", Casey which we think fits his personality better and he phonetically responds to. He and Lily are having a great time, they play all of the time, and already have bonded. Both are very happy. Yes he did try to nip at my ankles and bite my toes, but I firmly corrected him with a verbal command ( I don't like to use spray bottles, sorry), and he stopped. As of today he has not tried that again, but I will be diligent with him on this. What he has been doing, which is not that unusual in a new home is "marking", which again we are working on. He has successfully pooped outside for the last three days, which he initially thought it was perfectly acceptable to use the rug. LOL. The only other two behaviors we are working with him on is chasing and barking at the cat, and growling at Max when he comes near his food bowl. But these are all workable areas. We love the little guy, and with positive reinforcement and due diligence he is going to be fine. Thanks for checking on him. I hope you and Jeannie are doing well also. Speaking of behavior issues, how is Chompers doing? I really feel his behavior is fear and trauma induced. I am hoping over time he gets better, poor little guy. All the best,

Elin

Tony

Hello Kerri, Tony is doing his best to make the adjustment to living with me.  He walks well and does not pull on a leash.  He only barks to let me know when my son is coming in the house and only once or twice.  He is a very quiet dog most of the time.  I brought Tonys paperwork to my vet and was told that Tony is all set for now.  Excellent!  We walk around the block in the morning and do our business in the yard when we come home. He rides well in my car.  We came up to the Cape on Monday and he likes the bike trail and bay beach.  He has been meeting a few other dogs on the beach and trail.  He shows interest in being friends, wags his stub and does not bark.  We are working on building up his weight and Tony does eat twice a day.  He has begun his housetraining lessons and is pretty good as long as I am consistent with the timing.  Tony has made a serious effort to keep my nose wet with his licking.  He chases a cloth bone very well and likes to chew stuffed toys.  He is making a great impression on all he meets and he makes me very happy.  This has been a great experience and I recommend it for anyone looking to make friends with a Yorkie.  Keep up the good work.
Regards,
George Letendre

Carmen

Hi Kerri, Carmen is my little shadow,  she wants to be held and talked to all the time.  She is VERY active.  I thought Ted was the active one.  She is eating well.  She really is a great dog.  She gets better adjusted here with time and patience. Carmen plays with Ted (her boyfriend) and Mickey.  Not yet with Coco.  Carmen stopped barking at Mickey.
Still working on housetraining.  She is going wherever now, but I am sure it will come with time. I take them out all the time.  When Carmen comes back in after a few minutes,  she goes. She will catch on.
Janet
Update 5/11/2010:Hi Kerri, Carmen is doing better every day.  She is "the snuggler"  my Shadow.  I do love her, even Mark is very smitten over her. She has slept with him a few times at night. Joe loves her too.  Carmen was my present while he was gone.  She is still working on her housetraining. She tends to like the kitchen floor.  I just adore my doggies.  What a great way of life- for me anyways.  I will always help you out with the dogs.  See you soon.
Janet

Daisy

Daisy Mae & Buttons

Hi!
Just came in here to write to you and Cathie when I saw your letter. She is walking much better on a leash and is doing better all the time.  She still seems scared of the doors for some reason, but now when Buttons runs out so does she and very close behind her.  But coming in is another story.  We have to hide from her sight with the door open and then she comes in and we can finally close it............easy if you remember to do that.........LOL  Two nights ago they slept in the same bed at the same time for a few hours and then they seemed to realize what they were doing and Buttons moved to her own bed. They are pretty funny together. They stick together in the yard and don't seem to be bothered with the neighbors.  Now Maxx always barked at the neighbors until we would bring him in.  He got Buttons to do the same thing, but now she ignores them again and they are pretty quiet out there. Daisy Mae found her reflection in the window below the TV and stared at it for a while until that "animal" never moved and she got bored with it. She also spotted herself in the mirror on my dresser and was fascinated with "that animal". We love her and are really enjoying the two of them together, they are so cute. You can assure her former owner that she is well taken care of and loved, both by us and our family. They can't believe how friendly she is right away when they come here, no hiding from them.

Mary
IUpdate 5/19/10: finally got a photo of Daisy Mae sitting with Buttons, both of them from Yorkies, Inc.  Buttons has been with us for 2 years now and Daisy has just moved in and has taken over the house.  She is a funny little dog and we all love her.  It is pretty hard to catch them together, they move so fast.  So I captured them and told them to sit, just long enough to take this photo.
Mary

Arrow

Arrow has been an absolute pleasure. He has adjusted so well to our family and our home. He is very spoiled and we like it that way! We look forward to many wonderful years making great memories with Arrow. We cannot believe how lucky we are to have found him.
The Fords

Update 7/7/10:Arrow is doing so great!! We love him so much. My parents are back from FL so he
is never alone now. He loves the screened in porch and enjoys bouncing back and forth from my house and my parents. I knew that would happen!!! I keep reminding them he is mine!!lol. Arrow is so spoiled!!! Thank you so much for everything and hope you are well.
Kristin

Red

Hi Cathie! Red is doing great. She is such a sweetheart. She was very timid at first but that was understandable with her past. We saw great improvement with everyday and that little tail of hers is such a joy to see wagging a mile a minute. Linda has done a great job with Red's housetraining and Red continues to improve. Red loves being out in the grass. It's so funny watching her rolling over and over in the grass ending up with her toes in the air rubbing her back in the grass. I'll try to capture her in action with a photo. Charlie is still trying to figure out who she is. Being an only child for years, he just kind of stares at her as she runs by him but he's slowing warming up to her. She doesn't seem to mind. She is just loving her freedom and we enjoy giving this special little pup a whole new life.
Mike and Linda

Cathie Just a note to say "hi" & send a few pictures of Red. We love her to death! Thanks a bunch Mike, Linda, Charlie & Red

Tiny now Titan

Tiny now Titan!!

Hi Kerri,
Titan is doing so good. He and Penelope make quite a pair. He just gets cuter and cuter every day and more of his sweet little personality comes out. He done great around kids. He's very calm and lets them walk him on his leash. Titan is a very good playmate for Penelope and has brought out a playfulness we hadn't seen before in her. So far, no in house "accidents" or "marking". He's sleeping in a basket next to the bed at night that seems to be working out well. Titan & Penelope went to the groomers this week and have spiffy new hair cuts. I'll get some pictures of them this weekend.

Lauren & Robert

Tiny now Titan & Penny also adopted from Yorkies Inc.

Note: Tiny is a very lucky little pup to end up in the home of Lauren & Robert! Tiny is the third Yorkie they adopt from us! Faith was their first: a very senior little female who was loved unconditionally until the end. They did everything they could for her and was with her when she passed. Lauren and Robert then fostered Penny on an emergency basis last Christmas Eve...she never left.  Lauren and Robert then volunteered to foster Tiny who came to us blind with a condition know as PRA or Progressive Retinal  Atrophy we were thrilled when they asked if they could adopt him as well! Penny is making the prefect seeing eye dog for Tiny and he loves his new fenced yard where he can run and play safely. Thank you Lauren and Robert for always going above and beyond for these special needs pups!!!

Nike now Lil Guy

They are wonderful and Lil Guy is like he never left...he is walking really well and when he get tired he lays in his bed and KiKi kisses him then lays in hers beside him.   We haven't let him climb stairs yet but I'm sure he'd try if we let him. We are just being careful so he doesn't have to deal with pain for any reason that is brought on himself. When is his next appt.?  I know we talked about it but I didn't have my date book with me so I don't remember .  Guess I'm getting really old.. Faith

Fly Girl now Katie

Fly Girl

Hi Cathie,
Fly Girl is now "Katie" She is the sweetest little girl! Thank you for giving us another little "Katie" to Love.

 Tom & Maureen Millspaugh

Bella

Bella

Hey Cathie,
Is she a fit you ask? Ah? Ummm? YES! I love her already to death Cathie!! She can be a handful though! I'm getting to know her little quirks and her little Bitchy attitudes! What a Diva she is sometimes! Her toys are spread All over the living room and dining room floors! She's a dog that Loves her toys too! I've never seen a dog that loves them and plays with them like her. What is it when she takes a certain a few of the them and put them in her mouth and growls like a mad woman and tried to hit your ankles with it while your walking Cathie? She does it to me All the time now! I just laugh and laugh at her all the time! I told you about my triple sized deck right? Well she's goes out there and spends more and more time out there just looking at Birds and probably our friend Chucky the woodchuck or some of the squirrels in the yard? Not sure what she's looking at but she'll sit there for a Long time looking at the ground and then she'll run on each side of it looking down like she's following something? I haven't seen what it is yet because when I go out there it must take off or something? She does this in the morning at first for a good hour sometimes almost two but in between coming in to check on what I'm doing! She's grown Very attached to me too! I've taken her out a few times over to my sons and to meet my Doctor last Thursday. Now I can't even walk out of the room without her following me everywhere Cathie. Talk about a Lap dog!! Ahhhh? I wanted one of course but as I said to  you that I didn't have to have the other ones just for that reason because it would be boring after a while and wanted something with a bit of a challenge! Well, she's Both!  I do love to have her there most of the time! Stroking her hair keeps my hands busy so I don't do other things I shouldn't be doing! It also relaxes me so much and her too! Tomorrow I give her the first Bath! Then Thursday she goes to the vet for the first time! I'll keep you posted on that too! I'm teaching her all her manners and things like that! She really is respecting me more and won't growl at me now over everything! She sure was the few first days though! Now she knows that she's not the boss anymore. I'll email you more in a day or two so I can tell you about the Vet and her other little Hysterical things she was doing just today when she found her little body fits Perfectly on top of the Couch cushion by the front picture window in my home! Perfect for her to look out and see the squirrels and birds in the front yard! SOOOO funny what she's been doing Cathie!  Take care! God Bless you for what you have done for my life Cathie! I'm a changed, much happier woman and mother now Ill tell you that!!
  A friend, Teresa Lee :)

Posey & Edward

Posey and Edward

Hi Cathie, Everything is going well. Posey is coming around. The hallway is now a non issue. Her feisty personality is returning. Right now she is sleeping and I don't want to wake her but here is a picture of Eddie who is sitting with me. We take them on the deck to do their business. When they do that I give them a treat when the come back in, well wouldn't you know Posey ran back to the door to get another treat!!! Smart one. They are eating well but fuzzy on toilet skills at this point. We all went for a walk. Eddie moves quickly when he sees other dogs, has yet to figure out he isn't a pit bull! Posey was slow to start but she got the idea. She will be a natural. We are all having a very good time although I am still nervous about Posey's neck. Have a good night and I will get a pic of Posey tomorrow night

Ruth

Hi Cathie, Just wanted to let you know I am totally smitten with both Posey and Eddy. You have already heard that I thought Posey should be an only. That is, my only! They had their first work day today. Posey fit right in at the shop. I gave her a crate and she came and went as she pleased. I was impressed by her boldness and curiosity. You did a great job socializing her despite her disability. We also took them for a short walk this evening at the park we walk at and Posey impressed again. Eddy is a natural and we tuckered him out so he wouldn't bulldoze Posey as much. Their play tonight  was much better. They are both sleeping as I write this. Eddy on my lap and Posey in her bed snoring away. They haven't skipped a beat with eating and their plumbing is working well. Thanks for your vote of confidence and I guess they are stuck with us forever!

Lisa

4/2/10:Hi Cathie, Just wanted to let you know that everything is going very well. Posey is back to her feisty self and I love it. Eddie Joe is great, they are both such wonderful personalities!  They met their new veterinarian on Wednesday and had a general check up and a renew on their heartworm. I will make an appointment with Dr. F in the next few months to introduce ourselves with Posey. I will send more pics this weekend as they chase the Easter Bunny!

Ruth

4/4/10:Hi Cathie, I am having the time of my life with these two. We are walking at breakheart. Posey rides in a pouch. Sometimes she walks a little when she gets fidgety. Each time we go she is eager to follow Eddy and she enjoys the fresh air. I will be contacting Dr F. to introduce ourselves and to make sure we are doing everything right for her. Eddy loves to torment Posey. He pulled her topknot elastics and barrettes off constantly. I now remove them while they are playing so I don't have to chase them worrying whether he is going to ingest it. His favorite thing is to knock over their toy box and pull everything out to find the loudest squeaky toy. I will be sending pics.

Lisa

Lisa w/Posey & Eddie                                                                       Lisa w/Posey Moving out!

Note: After many months of looking for a perfect home for our very special pup "Posey"  we received an application from Ruth and Lisa. They were interested in giving Posey the special home she needed and were also willing and very happy to adopt Eddie Joe as well. This gave Posey the comfort of a known playmate in her new home. It also gave another one of our pups the opportunity of a very dedicated new home. We could not have asked for a better situation for not only Posey but Edward as well! Posey was born with AAI (Atlantoaxial instability) this is a deformity between the C1 and C2 vertebrae in the spine. She was unable to walk or sit up when we got her. After many months in a body cast her bones fused and she was able to be placed in a removable neck brace that she will wear for life. But she will be able to live out her life normally without the risks that go along with surgery. Eddie was born with a deformity in his  tibia and patella that made him unable to use his rear leg normally. Dr Kochin repaired the leg by rotating the bones and grooving his patella. Edward now runs and plays normally.

Dr Kochin and Edward   Dr. Farabaugh and Posey

We would like to thank Neurologist, Dr Andrew Farabaugh DVM of Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston for  going above and beyond when other doctors gave us no hope! We are very grateful for all he has done for the care and treatment of Posey. She is alive and well today because of Dr Farabaugh!

We would also like to thank board certified surgeon Dr Edward J. Kochin VMD, Diplomate ACVS of Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists in Buzzards Bay for the many knees, hips, leg abnormalities and Liver Shunt repairs he has done for us over the years. Many of our pups owe their lives or quality of life to him.  Our "Edward" or Eddie Joe was named in honor of Dr Kochin!

We feel very blessed to have found these two wonderful doctors and would recommend both them and their hospitals very highly.

Reilly now Bailey

Bailey

Dan w/Cassie (left -also adopted from Yorkies Inc.) & Bailey(r)

Hi Cathie, Bailey is wonderful! He snuggled in the car on the way home with Cassie and when we got home met all of the others. Amazingly, there has not been even a moment of difficulty, they all accepted him immediately and it has been as if he was always part of the pack. Cassie is the most interested in playing with him of the bunch and he reciprocates, which is great. He really seems to be adapting very well, and is not exhibiting any signs of anxiety or trauma. He has been eating like a champ and despite really bad weather has been doing pretty well with house training. There have been a couple of markings, but that seems to have abated. He loves to cuddle, as you said, and has very quickly won over our hearts. We did take him with us to the Cape on Saturday, but kept him with us while the others were at the groomer. We did not want to have him confused or upset, and it gave him some alone bonding time with us. In fact we had all of the others clipped back a bit since they got a bit matted while we were away, and they now all look a bit more like Bailey! It was really a pleasure to meet you as well, and I hope you enjoyed seeing Cassie. She is just wonderful and in perfect health now, I don’t know how we ever got along without her! I promise we’ll get a picture to you shortly. Thanks again, we’re thrilled to have Bailey. Best,

Dan

Update 3/23/10:Our daughter took some pictures of us with Bailey and the gang on Sunday and is emailing the jpeg to me today. I will be sure we get a couple to you and you can choose the one you want to use. Bailey is wonderful, and gets along really well with everyone, but he and Cassie seem to have a special bond and play together most often. It was really interesting to watch how seamlessly they all integrated together without any problems at all. Mealtime is a bit of a challenge since Bailey eats very quickly and then hovers around the others for more. We’ve taken to holding him until the others are at their dishes, then putting his food down, and then picking him up and distracting him until the others have finished. Bailey is pretty well house trained as long as you take him out regularly. He is marking a bit in the house but that seems to be slowing down as well, and really is not causing us any angst at all. He is a real cuddler and always wants to be close to us, Pat adores him. In short, it’s really going well and we are happy to have him as part of our family.

We also appreciate your information on the foods we are feeding to all the dogs. We have switched to some of those you recommended, mixing it with what we have left from the earlier brand we were using. They all seem to like it a lot. They are also enjoying the hooves and other chewies you recommended. We noticed Bella was back up on the site, and hope she is well. However we are thrilled with Bailey, and love him to death. Thanks for steering us to him he’s great!

Best, Dan

Update 3/30/10:Hi Cathie, Everything is going really well. Cassie and Bailey are in love with each other, play constantly and frequently can be found snuggled up with each other. Bailey eats like a trooper, and has done really well with house training. Last Saturday he went to the beauty parlor with his siblings and was quite a hit, and seemed to love the pampering (the attached photo of Bailey and Cassie was taken before the beauty parlor visit). He is just a great dog and we love him to death. It’s amazing to us how seamless his transition has been, and how well all the pups get along! Hope all is well with you, have a great Easter!

 Best, Dan and Pat

4/29/10:Hi Cathie, Just a quick update to let you know how well both Cassie and Bailey are doing. Cassie loves him to death and he loves to play with her as well. It is not unusual to see the two of them cuddled up with one or more of our other pups on a sofa or our bed. I’m thinking they may have bonded initially on their car ride home from our pick-up. Bailey also gets along really well with our other pups and we have had absolutely no problems at all. Bailey is truly a sweet dog who loves to be held and cuddled, it seems like he’s been ours forever. He eats like a champ and goes up and down the stairs to the outside without difficulty. He went to the vets just after we got him because he tested positive for a parasite, typically picked up from stepping in a puddle and then licking his paws. The vet did discover a heart murmur which she felt was very minor and not a cause for alarm, but suggested we do and echocardiogram to establish a baseline in case he has any future problems which might require treatment. That’s scheduled in a couple of weeks, but we anticipate that no follow-up will be necessary. His parasite issue is now resolved and he is fine. Cassie of course is now the picture of good health and largely runs the show with a little assistance from our other little girl Jewel! We did get your email and would love to help out tough we do have our hands full right now with our six, and are getting ready to move to the Cape in a few weeks  for the summer. If you get really stuck let us know and we’ll see how we are doing.

Best, Dan and Pat

6/2/10: Hi Cathie, Our furry family is all doing well, and has made its way to Cape Cod for the summer season. The dogs love it because they get to spend a lot of time on our screened porch, barking at birds and enjoying the cool breezes. Cassie and Bailey are doing really well and all six have really become a very playful and friendly pack. You seem to have been very busy with lots of referrals and placements so I’ve sent a $500 donation thru PayPal to help defray whatever ongoing expenses you need to cover as you see fit.

All the Best, Pat, Dan and the pack!

Special Thanks to Dan & Pat for opening their heart and home to not just our special needs pup Cassie but again to our older guy Reilly! Reilly now Bailey had not one person who expressed interested in him when Dan inquired. He is just 7yo yet everyone we contacted who was interested in our younger male Maltese passed. Only Dan & Pat will know the love & joys Bailey will add to a home. He is one special pup and one lucky guy...and we feel doubly blessed to have Dan & Pat adopt from us yet again!

Brody now Nigel

James w/ Clayton Robin w/Brody now Nigel & son Ryan

Hi Kerri, I think things are going well. I left the boys together in the kitchen and they were happy to see me come home. We went out in the yard  to enjoy the weather. Our vet told us not to walk the cul de sac for a couple of weeks just to be safe with his injury. He is using the pad if we bring him to it every 3 hours. He will walk our on our deck with Clayton. He is still sleeping through the night until 6 and that is great my son gets up then to get ready for school. We are very attached to him  I am looking forward to nicer weather.
Robin
p.s. we did change his name to Nigel and he is starting to come to that name.
3/6/10:He is still in my sons room at night. He wagged his tail for the first time when Ryan came home from school. The puppy pad is working for urine but he is pooping at other places.  He is occasionally urinating outside when we walk. We are hoping Clayton will show him and over time he will follow. We are working on walking together. He has also been in the car we bought him a car seat like Claytons and he seems to be ok with it. We take short rides to parks. We will take things slow with him and left him adjust. Was he use to being left during the day?

3/12/10:Kerri,Nigel is adapting well to life in the Roche household. He and our other dog Clayton appear to be bonding. He's definitely a keeper. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to adopt him.
Robin

Finnigan

Finnegan

Hey Cathie, I visited my grandparents the other day and wanted to let you know that Finnegan is doing very well! My grandparents adore him and he seems to be very happy with them, too. He definitely rules the roost!! I was very impressed at how well he has adjusted to his new home. My grandparents are using the pads in the house so that my grandmother doesn't have to worry about going up and down the stairs but even that is going well. He never has accidents anywhere else. They are so happy with him and wanted me to thank you again.  Hope all is well,
Kelly

Jacob now Ben

Cassidy, Jane w/ Jacob now Ben (l) & Molly (r)

Hi there! We are so happy and having so much fun! Both little dogs love Cassidy and Jacob  curls up with her in her bed. We have had a couple of long nights, though. Finally, I had to move his crate to the kitchen after  21/2 hours of howling. In the morning I discovered he had pooped in his crate. Poor little guy. He's great in the bath, though. All day, he has peed on the pad- They both do- It amazes me! We have fenced in the back patio and made a little outdoor run for them. I put a used pee pad outside to help them get the idea. I just need to find some wood chips. (Hard to find in the winter in Maine:)) How can I adjust Jacob's feeding schedule to help him poop during the day? Did you feed them 2 or 3 times a day? He likes his crate and crawled in for a long nap yesterday. We went to Petco and hung out on Sat. Molly was in the backpack and was happy to let people pet her and make a big fuss over how cute she is! Mac did a great job walking on the leash and Cassidy was having a ball herding her "baby" She would have made a great mother. I'm getting ready for a long walk with my babes this morning. It will be my first day at work- I hate leaving them home! We bought an x-pen and have put a very washable fleecie at one end with the crate and toys.  Cathie, they LOVE your blankies!!!! The other end of the x-pen has 2 pee pads. Molly does well in her crate, and Cassidy will have the run of the kitchen to keep everyone company. I'll come home @ 12:00 and a neighbor will come over tonight to learn our routine, and then she can come at 2:30 daily. Cathie, thank you so much! We are so lucky!!!!!t  I haven't forgotten the family pix you want- just left my camera at school on Friday- I'll send some soon! Hugs Jane

Cassidy, Ben & Molly (also adopted with Yorkies Inc.)

Molly & Ben

Update 2/4/10:Cathie, Well, better between Molly and Ben. They mouth each other a lot in a very playful way and Molly has started to initiate it. Her tail is wagging and she sometimes barks but doesn't growl. It is still strange when Cassidy is more actively seeking my attention when Molly is in the room (not on my lap- on the floor in another part of the room) She will zip over and snap at Cassidy's face- Cass backs away and then goes right to the door to be let OUT! She has really backed off and is very wary of Molly. Ben climbs all over Cassidy and bites at her hair. She just lays there, but I can see her rolling her eyes, as if to say, "He's a pup" Ben LOVES to chase the kitty and she keeps coming back for more. This morning David was petting Isis, and she was purring as Ben was standing on his hind legs and  "playing the piano" on her back. Molly will occasional sniff her as she walks by, but doesn't chase or bother her.
Molly will go to Cassidy as she is sleeping on her bed, and join her. I think she is maybe reacting to Cassidy's loud panting, Aussie noise, when she is seeking my attention, it freaks Molly out, and so she lashes out. It has only happened once in the last 4 days. I really think with time, things will settle. The relationship between Ben and Molly seems really to be developing in a very positive way. I am thinking about letting Ben have the run of the kitchen with Molly now during the day. I made 2 "litter boxes out of big rubber made totes with a piece of floor mat to anchor the pee pad, and both are using them. Molly goes to the door and circles to be let outside. Yay! Ben is walking on the leash and I can take all 3 for a walk together in the am and night. I can't wait for warmer weather. Are walks are pretty short at this time

Colby now Finn

Kim w/Wally, Aiden w/Colby now Finn & James

Hi Kerri...We LOVE Finn (Colby). I made an appointment with our Vet for Wednesday am. Will let you know how that goes. Here are a few pictures from yesterday. Thank you, Kim

PS... Finn is enjoying all of the attention here at work today.

3/8/10:Hi Kerri... Finn is doing so well. He is learning that it is much better to go outside to pee, etc...Treats work so well for him and now our other 100% trained dog Wally is getting in on the act. Wally is "faking" a pee outside to come in for a treat too. However, I have caught on. Finn comes to work with me and loves the Nuns. They love him too. He is a much better and lighter (Finn is 6 lbs and Wally is 14 lbs) lap dog and enjoys affection from everyone. Finn and Wally love to play chase. Wally runs and Finn chases him. They also wrestle. They take naps together. They play well with the boys across the street and Finn has not stolen Wally's girlfriend down the street, Lola. Finn loves to eat and especially loves treats. He seems to love his new home and we love him too...and don't remember what life was like before he was part of our family.
Thank you Kerri & Yorkies Inc...
Kim, Jamie, Aidan, Wally & Finn

3/10/10:Hi Kerri...Here are some pictures of the "Best Friends" Thank you so much. Finn & I are starting training tomorrow night. However, I already taught him to wait for treats, sit, paw and dance. He is so smart. :)
Kim

Molly

Cathie, What a sweet girl! We had a quiet ride home to Maine with both girls snoozing in the car. Molly was very timid about the house at first, but what a brave little girl! She sniffed when our Aussie peed outside and then copied her. She has peed outside now 3 times. At first, she wasn't interested in eating, but about 6:00 last night, we tried again and she ate every bit! We took the bed frame off from under our box springs and put our bed on the floor and it is a much better height for her. Last night she slept on her little bed right between our pillows and never moved. This morning, she is watching everything we do and has allowed us both to hold her. She is such a sweet, quiet girl!
Cathie, thanks so much for all your time and patience yesterday helping us make a good match for our Cassidy. We are all in LOVE! (Even kitty was nose to nose with her this morning!)
This is a picture of my husband David and Molly getting acquainted. And Cassidy and Molly snoozing side by side. Cathie, I left a message asking if Reilly was still available, and after talking to Julie, think maybe she's not, but would you consider us for Jacob or his brother? We would love another baby!
Thanks so much!
Jane

David w/Molly

Update 1/20/10: Hi Cathie, Molly had a good night and slept on her little bed between our pillows. I went to bed before my husband and he tried to hold her on his lap while he was watching tv, but she ran in to the bedroom and tried to hide in the corner. When he picked her up she was shaking from head to toe, but once she was tucked in her little bed, calmed right down and even licked my hand. This morning, we went out to pee and had success. Molly sniffs where Cassidy goes and then also squats and pees. What a good girl! She HATES the snow, but will bravely follow Cassidy out when coaxed. She pooped on the rug, so we took it outside and put it in her "spot", and hopefully this will help her know what to do. She hasn't shown any interest in the pee pad. She isn't approaching us yet, but will relax in our arms if we pick her up and wrap her in her blanket, and she peeks around the corner at me if I leave the room. Poor little girl! I wish there was a way to tell her what a good life she will have and not to worry! In time. Cathie, we are still thinking about another pup.  We think a lively, outgoing, companion would help Molly adjust. Cassidy has tried to initiate play by gently nudging Molly, but Molly trembles and curls up on her bed. I think she was interested in Cass at the vets because the other pups were sniffing and she wondered what was up. I would love another Yorkie, and think this would be the right time for all of us to bond. When Molly is ready, she will have a playful companion her size, Cassidy will have a friend to interact with, and we want to fill our house and arms with joyful noise and activity. Thanks so much for your support,
Jane

Fluffnut now Jack

Hi Cathie, FYI, Fluffnut is doing just fine. Lucy is showing signs of jealousy and definitely wants him to know that she's in charge. She tries to keep him from getting too close to me, but overall, I think she's handling a new dog in her home better than we expected. He's very sweet, and quite playful. He loves his carrot and green bean treats as well as the liver treats. He's a little cuddler. He's doing ok with the training-- although really hates going out in the snow. Can't say I blame him there!! I'll try to get a couple of pictures. Bye for now...
Marcia

Jeannie

Cathie, Jeannie is doing good. She has put on a pound.  It feels good on her. She now knows what going bye-bye means and absolutely NEVER misses an opportunity to go for a bye-bye ride.  She also knows what ma-ma's home means and she knows the sight of my car.  She has such an enthusiastic greeting, and it doesn't matter if we are separated for 8 hours or 8 minutes, it's always the same greeting.  Jeannie is capable of giving her own version of the warm and fuzzies.  It feels great.
Jeannie actually likes to go on walks with us and sometimes her and Abigail entertain each other by chasing each other through out the house.  Just wanted to give you the update.
   Fran

Riley

Riley

Hi Cathie,  Things are going great.  Riley got her stitches out on Thursday and did excellent!  As of Thursday night she no longer seems to have an issue with the wood and linoleum floors anymore.  I think she surprised herself when she just ran across it without thinking.  It was a great moment.  Needless to say she's enjoying the run of the house! Coco seems to be back to her normal self now and is accepting her new buddy very well.  Coco is even trying to play with Riley but gets a little to rambunctious for her.  Riley will go to the kennel and potty as long as I carry her up and down the stairs.  I know she can do it because she has but we'll spoil her while it's still so cold out!  She doesn't seem to like the pee pads (I use these when we're gone all day)  but will use news paper with paper towels on top???  Whatever works. Thank you for finding such a sweetheart for us.  She has a great personality that keeps us smiling every day.  We couldn't have asked for a better fit.  Thank you to you and Kerri for all your help in our search.  I'll send pictures soon.  Have a great weekend! Vicki, Megan, Coco and Riley (Our family is complete now!!)
Update 2/3/10:Hi Cathie,  You'll be happy to here that Riley and Coco actually share the same dog bowls and toys.  Yes, I said toys!!  Riley is actually playing with toys now too!  Coco will walk by with one in her mouth and Riley will try to take it.  Coco watches patiently and just wags her tail.  If Coco runs off with it Riley chases her and the chase continues around the house for at least a half hour or until their out of breath.  They seem to be having a great time together.  They seem to really be connecting with each other but also seem happy spending time apart.  The only issue I'm having is getting Riley to use the newspaper consistently when we're not home.  Sometimes she hits it and other times it's near by??  Let me know if you have any suggestions.  I hate to put her in a separate space during the day but I may have to try it for awhile??  Have a great night.  Vicki

Molly

Molly

Hi Kerri: Well...she is a cutie for sure!!   We all just love her and my girls can't keep her on the floor!! We are having trouble with house training, though.  We take her out constantly and she just trots around sniffing away and when we bring her back in, shortly after, she usually pees on the floor and only occasionally uses her pee pad!!  Is there anything you can do to help us with this?  I've read that Maltese are hard to train.  Thankfully her pee is a teaspoon at the most!  (She does pee outside but not always.)
She's still not eating good but I figure she'll eat eventually.  It took Maddie a few weeks to get on a schedule so it appears Molly's the same way.  She and Maddie are learning to deal with each other.  Maddie doesn't like the fact that Molly would like to call Maddy's bed and crate her own but she's getting more used to it.  She's never snapped at her , she is very gentle with her, so I think that tells me that Maddie will be okay with her.  We make sure that Maddie is greeted first so Molly doesn't try to establish dominancy. I am going to sign her up for training soon. She really is a cutie pie...we just love her!!  Thanks again. Paula
PS:  A groomer friend of mine told me not to keep her in clothes because it causes matting.  What are your thoughts about that??

Wiley now Liberace

Hi Kerri
Liberace is doing very well!! I thought he was mute or something but he sometimes barks at his image on the glass or when we are watching Jersey Shore on MTV :). I took him to the vet and he is very healthy. He was vaccinated for Lyme disease (just to be safe) and the vet also prescribed some heart worm medication. He just started to play with the toys and he loves his new bed but he prefers my lap which I don't complain at all. He is a love bug and I am very happy!!! Thank you again
Daniela with Wiley now Liberace

Boca now Dakota

Alyssa w/ Benji (also adopted from Yorkies Inc) & Dakota

Hi Cathie, Here is Alyssa with Benji and Dakota.  She is doing great!  She has fit in to our family so nicely that it feels like we have had her forever.  She and Benji have started to play and she chases him around our yard, which he loves.  She curls up with both Cassie (which I never thought I'd live to see) and Benji in their beds.  I will send one more of her and Cassie, just so you can see.  Thanks for everything!!
