Our Available Pups...

A note about our adoption donations

*Adoption donations are based on but not limited to: health, age, and sex of the pup. Adoption donations range from $50.-$750. You may ask "Why would you charge an adoption fee? Why not just place in a good home?" The answer is: because we rely heavily on these adoption fees in order to be able to take in ALL Yorkies in need. A young, healthy dog may cost us $200-400 in vet care, and have many homes interested in adopting him/her. An older or sick yorkie, or one with health issues can easily cost $500-1500+ in veterinary expenses. He/she may require months of foster care for rehabilitation or expensive surgery; yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee. Often times these are also the same dogs that don't receive as many inquires for adopting. Please keep in mind that the adoption donations of younger, healthy dogs help defray the higher costs of the veterinary care of older, injured or sick dogs. We hope that people looking to adopt through Yorkies Inc. are willing to give an opportunity for a better life to ALL of our dogs by supporting them through adoption fees. We are a non-profit organization. Without these adoption donations we would not have the funding to take in all yorkies in need. Yorkies Inc. completely vets every dog we take in. All dogs are groomed given a complete exam and brought up to date on all vaccines. They are also given a dental cleanings, spayed/neutered, heartworm tested and any medical needs and needed surgeries are met before placement.

If you are looking for to adopt to "save money" or "don't want to pay breeder prices" please check your local shelters. We are  only interested in loving responsible homes that are willing to commit to the care and up keep of the pup for a lifetime. If you are not willing to pay the adoption donation now you are likely not to pay for quality food or to see to the pups health care needs in the future. Remember we are looking for our pups to become family members and cherished companions not a convenient impulse purchase.

If interested in adopting with Yorkies Inc please submit an adoption application. We always go to applications already on file when dogs become available. Thank you so much for considering adoption!

This is Edward, he is a male Yorkie who weighs 3.4lbs. He will likely weigh 6-7lbs full grown. Edward is just adorable  and a great cuddler. He was surrendered to us because he was born with a deformity to his right rare leg. He was seen by Dr Edward Kochin at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists and we were told that Edward would need surgery to reposition his knee cap and straighten his femur, tibia and fibula bones. Edward had his surgery on Jan 9th and did wonderful! His leg looks great and we are every thankful to Dr Kochin for all he has done for Edward. While under anesthesia  Edward was also neutered. He is currently recovering and will need to stay low key for another 6 weeks or so. He will be going back for rechecks but we expect he will have a full recovery and run and plan as normal in no time. Edward will also receive his last series of vaccines before being placed. His surgery alone cost was $1228.22 If you are a "Twilight" fan you know all about the competition between "Edward" and "Jacob" Show your support to "Team Edward" and donate to his surgery costs please use the donate button below. All donators will be listed as members of "Team Edward". If interested in adopting Edward when he is ready please submit an adoption application.

Update:1/27/10: Edward had his recheck at CCVS yesterday and did very well. He is using his leg and very much looking forward to being able to run and play with the other pups. We are taking applications for Edward though he will still need a couple more weeks here, we would like to have his home ready and waiting for him.

2/22/10 Update: Edward went for his recheck today. He did great Dr Kochin feels as though as long as he take sit easy on the leg for another week or two he does not need to see him again. We think he looks fantastic and we feel he is ready to be adopted. If interested in adopting Edward please submit an adoption application.

Cupid

Critical Care!
Cupid in the oxygen box

Please help us help Cupid... Cupid is a tiny 6 month old, 2 1/2lb male Yorkie puppy, who is very sick. Cupid came into Yorkies Inc this weekend because of a collapsed trachea. He was having extreme difficulty breathing. We brought right in to the emergency vet where he was diagnosed with a severe case of pneumonia. He is now in an oxygen tank to help with his breathing because he is not able to breathe on his own. It is just too hard for the little guy. Cupid will remain in the oxygen tank while he is being treated for the pneumonia. His lungs are filled with fluid. Because of his small size and the severity of the pneumonia they need to be very aggressive with his treatment or else he will not make it.  He is in Critical Care. If we can get him through the pneumonia and his lungs have been cleared they will then be able to look at his trachea to see what damage there is. Please keep Cupid in your prayers as the next few days are going to be very critical for him. Cupid's medical care is going to be very expensive as he is in the intensive care unit. So far the bill is estimated at $3360.00 Anything you can give to help with Cupid's medical care will be greatly appreciated.  We want Cupid to have the chance to live a happy and healthy life and we need your help. All donators will be listed as "Friends of Cupid".  Please use the PayPal button below.  Any questions please email Kerri@yorkiesinc.com
Update 2/17/10:The vets are currently trying to wean Cupid from the oxygen tank to see if he can handle breathing on his own without the extra support. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He has a long road ahead of him. His bill has gone over what we expected due to needing the oxygen and level of care. We are currently at 4000.00
2/21/10: Cupid is HOME! He was able to go 24 hours without having to use the oxygen tank so he was able to come home. He is still a very sick little boy but is on the long road to recovery. He is on three medications and has to have three steam showers a day with coupage (tapping of his lungs) to try and  help loosen all the mucous and  fluid in his lungs. Cupid's vet bill was just at $4000 when he left and we are not done yet . He will need to go back often for chest x-rays to see how his lungs are clearing in order to determine how to proceed. Please continue to keep Cupid in your prayers even though he is out of the hospital he is still very sick and fragile.

Bella

Bella

We received an emergency phone call from our Vet's office. They wanted to know if we would commit to taking a 2yo female "Shorkie" who came in with a blockage in her urethra. The owner an elderly woman could not afford the surgery to remove the bladder stones that had shown in the Xray. Without surgery this little girl would die so Euthanasia was what they were facing. Of course we say yes to her site unseen and the surgery was preformed on Wednesday. Unfortunately, they were only able to remove the stones they found in the bladder and were still unable to pass a catheter through her urethra to un-lodge the very large stone that had blocked it. We received yet another call from our vet to say she would need to be moved to a specialist. In a panic we called Dr Timothy Donovan and he could take her right away. Little Bella was transferred to his car that same day. He located the large stone with a rectal exam and confirmed with an Xray. Luckily for Bella Dr Donovan must have manipulated it enough to free it somewhat and shortly after the Xray Bella passed the stone on her own! No more surgery was going to be needed! She is now doing very well and very relieved to be urinating and seems so relaxed. Her belly is still very tender from the surgery but we expect with this ordeal behind her she'll be herself again in a couple days. Bella is a Shorkie which is a Shih Tzu Yorkie mix. She weighs about 7lbs but needs to lose a bit and should weigh about 5 1/2lbs. She is up to date on all vaccines and is spayed and housetrained. She does well with other pups and loves all people. She is a love, no bad habits at all....loves her toys and is good in the car.  Her vetting has cost us $930.50. We have been hit hard yet again with many surgeries and special needs pups. If you can help us with Bella's expenses it would help us to be able to continue to help others coming in. All donators will be listed as "Friends of Bella" Please use the PayPal button below. If interested in adopting Bella when she has recovered please submit an adoption application. Any questions email Cathie@yorkiesinc.com

Update 2/21/10: Bella is doing very well...her incision looks very good and her stitches will be removed this week. She's running and playing again and her personality is just adorable. We think she'd love another pup to play with....or she may be fine going back to being an only as well. The best news of all is that the stones she had were struvite and are no usually reoccurring. The stones were likely due to an untreated urinary tract infection. She should not need a special diet, just a good high quality dry kibble and no people food. Bella should be ready to be adopted by this weekend. Please submit an adoption application if interested in Bella.

Brody

Brody

This is Brody. He is a 6 month old male Yorkie who weighs almost 5lbs. Brody was surrendered to Yorkies Inc due to him breaking a the bone in his front leg. Brody was seen by an orthopedic specialist this week at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists. They were able to set the leg and felt that it was going to heal nicely. Brody needs to go back in two weeks for more x-rays and have the leg re-X-rayed and cast change. In the meantime Brody needs to be confined and kept quiet so the leg can heal, which has been hard as he is an active puppy. Brody gets along well with other dogs, plays with toys, and is doing well working on his house training. We need to raise funds to help
pay for his his vetting expenses. If you would like to contribute and become a "friend of Brody" please use the PayPal button below. All friends will be listed below. If you have any questions please email Kerri at Kerri@yorkiesinc.com  Thank you!
2/21/10 Update:  Brody is ready and looking for his new home. He went to the vets today for a re-check. X-rays were taken and the vet said that the bone has healed very strong and looks good. He just wants him to take it easy for the next week. Then he will be ready to play. Brody would do great  with another small dog to play with, however he also could be an only. He is just about 100% pee pad trained. However, he would have to learn where it was located in his new home. He will go outside if taken out. Brody will need work walking on a leash. If interested in adopting Brody please fill out an application.

Nike

Nike

Nike is an adorable little 6yo male Yorkie. He just loves to snuggle and is a well behaved boy. He loves to run and play when his legs aren't giving him any problems.....sadly though they do seem to bother him more than not. He has loose patella's (knee's) which is a pretty common problem with the breed and other toy breeds. We have started him on Glucosamine and Chondroitin. But he will also be getting corrective surgery so his little legs don't slip out on him any more. With any luck he  will be able to run like the wind and live up to his name! The surgery is going to be costly as it's both knees that likely need repair. We need to raise funds for his surgery. If you'd like to contribute and become a "Friend of Nike" please use the PayPal button below. All friends will be listed. Any questions please email Cathie@Yorkiesinc.com Thank you!

Update 2/24/2010: Nike has been doing great on the supplements we started him on. That and some lower impact  exercise seems to have strengthened his muscles enough to support the loose knees. We have postponed his surgery and if he's still ok in two weeks we will cancel it completely. So for now we are not taking any donations in case the surgery is no longer needed. If we feel he can be adopted out without surgery we will be making a provision in his adoption agreement that should surgery become necessary in the future that Yorkies Inc will be covering it. We want to thank all those who have already donated and this will go towards his vetting we have already done for him which included x-rays and the orthopedic appointment.

PLease help Nike run again!

Update 3/8/10: After yet another opinion we have re-evaluated what we are going to do about Nike's knees. Though he has improved just being on supplements, we feel as though Nike will get a better result to have surgery now while he is still young. We also feel we should do this before arthritis sets in any further. We are going to be moving ahead with surgery so we have reinstated our donate button. The estimate for the surgery is between $2400-2600.

Jeannie

Jeannie is a 4 1/2yo 5lb female Yorkie. She is as smart as a whip and loves attention. She is a breeder released pup and is ready for a home where she can be a pampered pup and maybe snuggle in your bed at night. She is housetrained if taken out every couple hours but could not be trusted for long periods of time. She doesn't thank that will be a problem as she would really prefer someone home with her and doe snot like to be crated. She does ok with other dogs in groups and will play but we think she'd be best as an only. Jeannie has been completely  vetted and is a healthy happy pup. She's had all her vaccines a spay dental cleaning and has been micro-chipped. If interested in becoming Jeannie's new home please submit an adoption application. Any questions email Cathie@yorkiesinc.com

Reilly

Please email for Picture. Reilly is in our puppy protection program:)

Reilly is a 7 yo 8lb male Maltese. He is lovable and sweet with not a mean bone in his body. Does well with kids. He is healthy and is up to date on Vaccines. He just had a neuter and recent dental cleaning. He did lose the rest of his teeth but he does just fine eating and drinking without them. Reilly will need a little work with house training but he's smart and with an attentive home will do just fine. He is not marking in his foster home. He is ready to go to his new home. If interested in adopting Reilly please submit an adoption application. Any questions email Cathie@yorkiesinc.com

Update 3/8/10: Reilly is doing very well on house training and if taken out he is not having any accidents. He's an easy going pup and loves to be help like a Koala bear.

Chompers

Chompers is a 2 1/2 year old male Yorkie who weighs about 4lbs. Chompers was surrendered by his owner due to her not having the time to care for or train Chompers. He is currently being evaluated by a dog trainer for behavioral issues. While Chompers was very lovable to his prior owner and is to his current foster Mom he becomes very protective of his "owner" and will bark, growl, nip and even attempt to bite someone who comes near her while in the house. Chompers responds well to positive reinforcement, such as being given a treat, from someone and takes correction well from his foster Mother such as a little squirt from a water bottle or the stay command. However his new home will need to work further with his training and reinforcements on a consistent basis.
We are looking for a one person household for Chompers.  Ideally this home would have prior experience working with terriers, up for the commitment, a fenced in yard as Chompers loves to run and explore outside, and does not have children visit the house on a consistent basis. His new home must be willing to continue to take Chompers to behavioral training. One other dog in the in the house would be fine as he likes to play with other dogs. Chompers loves to play with squeaky
toys, cuddle on the couch, and go for walks. He does very well in the car but will bark at people when going through a drive through.  He is also house-trained, but would need reinforcement in his new home.

11/16: Chompers went to be evaluated by a trainer who has many years of experience working with dogs that have behavioral issues. He felt Chompers was very workable and with proper training would be a great little dog. The training however is very expensive and will cost just under $1000. This is the first time Yorkies Inc has ever asked for donations for a pup with behavioral issues, but we feel strongly that Chompers is worth it. While Chompers is a very healthy 2 year old he still needs our help to become well. He is still suffering in his own way and deserves the same care that we give the pups that come into us with medical issues. Please consider donating to help Chompers get the
training he needs so he can lead a long and happy life.  All donators will be listed as "Friends of Chompers"

12/20 Chompers has begun to really play with the other dogs in the house. Since this has happened he seems to be more relaxed and comfortable. He is always trying to get one of them to play with him and when that fails he grabs a toy or a chew bone. Chompers is still being protective of his foster Mom however, the intensity has decreased. If he is  very familiar with the other person visiting and they have given him some treats or played toys with him he is much better with them and will not go after them. He may bark at them but this seems to be more out of fear and being unsure.

1/11 Chompers went to the Animal Rescue League for an evaluation. Dr. Marder felt that much of Chomper’s behavioral issues were due to fear. The goal of his training is for Chompers to begin to realize that he does not need to be afraid of people. This consists of a lot of positive reinforcement from people when they enter the home and corrections only from his foster Mom. Chompers is responding well to this however he still has his moments. At those times Chompers is kept
on a leash which is working well or confined to a room when he cannot be watched. Chompers is beginning to respond well to stay command. He is working on his training daily for about 5 minutes and will stay in a down position for over 20 seconds. When someone he is familiar with walks in the room Chompers will stay in a down position if given the command before they come in. If interested in adopting Chompers please contact his foster mother or fill out an application as we are looking for his new forever home that would be able to work with us and his trainer. We have contracted with Dr. Marder for the next 3 months and would like his new owner to be involved if at all possible. If you have any questions please contact his fostermom at kerri@yorkiesinc.com

2/23 Update: Chompers continues to make improvement. He is tolerating visitors to the house and beginning to realize that they will give him treats. He is fine with his foster Mother's good friend coming over to visit on a regular basis and does not need to be on a leash. He however still needs work when it is someone he has never met before, for this we do keep him on a leash. Dr. Marder feels that Chompers is doing well and is ready to be adopted by that special person. This special person will live alone, have a fenced in yard, and lots of love to give Chompers. Chompers loves to play with toys, go for rides in the car, and to cuddle with you at night. You will also need to be committed to Chompers and his continued training and learning. If you feel you are that special person please contact his foster Mom.

Total for behavior training $1000.

Posey

UPDATE 11/14/09: We are still in search of the right home for our Posey! She wears a permanent removal brace that she will have to wear for life. But she knows no different and like the true terrier she is, she continues to be determined not to be stopped! Other than the wearing of the brace Posey is a healthy playful pup. Posey loves to climb into your lap the snuggle and sleep and loves belly rubs. She is ready to be adopted, but because of the fact she will always be an AAI pup and will remain fragile for life we will be looking for a special home. Our requirements for Posey are very specific. We are looking for a home where the main care giver will be home most of the time. Experience in small dogs and or medical background is also required. The home must have no more than one step in the main living quarters (bedrooms upstairs are fine). Posey is an active puppy and very playful. She is liking being held more all the time but would still rather play with other dogs...We ask that you have one or two other playful small dogs 10lbs or under is ideal so that Posey would have a playmate...or be willing to adopt a companion for Posey. No children and a fenced yard or area is also required.  Also, because Dr Farabaugh at Angell Memorial Hospital has been so instrumental in Posey's well being we are asking  the new home to continue her care there if at all possible. If you feel you are that special home please submit an application to be considered.  Any questions please email Cathie@yorkiesinc.com

Update 8/20/09: Posey has turned a year old and is doing amazingly well. If you did not see the neck brace you would not think there was anything wrong with her at all. She weighs about 3 1/2lbs and is full grown. She loves to run and play and try to get every other pup to play with her...she doesn't always take no for an answer. We are still looking for that special home that will understand the seriousness of her condition even though she looks and acts very normal. She will always need to wear the brace but is otherwise very healthy and happy. If your interested in adopting Posey please read the rest of Posey's story below. If you are that special home please submit an adoption application. Or email Cathie@yorkiesinc with any questions.

This little pup is very very special. She is a teeny little 13 week old female Yorkie who became paralyzed about 13 days ago. She can move all four legs but can not walk or stand at all. She also falls over if you sit her up. The breeder is not sure what happened but he didn't have the heart to put her down. So we have stepped in to see if there is anything possible that can be done. We already have an appointment set up with a specialist...We are praying something can be done.  Right now she needs help doing almost everything. She needs to be propped to eat or hand fed and also needs help getting to her water.  And because of her size she needs to eat and drink every few hours. She will also bark to potty and we have been here to help her to the wee wee pad to relieve herself. She came home in a pouch and is being carried around in a pouch or pocket this gave us the inspiration for her name "Pocket full of Posey" or Posey... we hope you feel it fits her. If there is something that can be done  for her we will be doing it... but we can't without your help. If you would like to become a "Friend of Posey" please use her donate button below. All friends of Posey will be listed. Please keep her in your prayers and check back for updates.

update 10/1/08: We have some very sad news on our special pup....Posey has been seen by two specialists one at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialist and then off to Angell Memorial yesterday. Sadly both feel that euthanasia is not out of the question for her and her prognosis. She has been diagnosed Severe AtlantoAxial Subluxation w/ non-ambulatory Tetra paresis. In layman's terms she has a severe congenital defect between discs 1 and 2 in her spine at the base of her neck. The gap is very large and because of her age and size they simply cannot do anything for her. Her bones are two small and soft. We found the news almost unbearable looking at this tiny little face so ready for life. She is in a very fragile state as her neck could easily become even more damaged to the point she would be in excruciating pain or not be able to breath and that is our biggest fear and concern. Because we cannot give up on her so easily and she is not in any pain right now and we have seen such promise in this little ones attitude we are trying the only thing possible right now. Her neurologist at Angell suggested a neck brace to stabilize her so that she isn't likely to do more damage. We were expecting what we typically see in a human neck brace....and were quite taken a back when she came back to us in a full upper body cast. She is tolerating it fairly well and continues to eat and drink and signal to us to potty. So we will be seeing how she does for now with this hoping for some miracle that she grows big enough to be a surgical candidate. Needless to say she is not up for adoption right now and continues to need your support and prayers. We will not let her suffer and if we see that she is we will have to make the decision then...right now we want to focus on allowing her some time with love and attention.

Update 10/06/08: We have some wonderful news to report! Since having her in her brace Posey has started sitting up on her own and taking up to 10 steps at a time in just a few short days!! We feel very hopeful! We do fully understand that this may mean nothing as far as her being a surgical candidate but we do see her spunk and determination and her Yorkie attitude will at least be there to back her through all this! And just maybe she will be our little miracle!! PLEASE keep the prayers and good wishes coming. Her next visit with the neurologist is Weds and this will be another expense....we desperately need your help with donations to continue.

Update 10/8/08: Posey's neurologist Dr Farabaugh was just as impressed with what he saw today as we have been. He is very encouraged with all she has accomplished in a week! He feels that she is certainly on the right road but it will still be a long one ahead of her. But he said her spirit is incredible and that will very much help her. He did still feel that she is the smallest patient with the worst case he has seen and she will still not be a candidate for surgery for some time. But that with any luck her soft bones may fuse and surgery may not be needed. She will likely be here at Yorkies Inc. for a long time as he said bones fusing or surgery would likely be closer to a year old before either happens. She goes back on Oct 18 for another brace change. Please continue to pray!

Update 10/13/08: She is doing so well motoring around we decided to move her from her  Pak & Play and  put down an 4x4 piece of carpeting and put her in an expen to give her more room to stretch and exercise her legs.  She seems to love the extra freedom and walked around most of the day....stopping on occasion to rest in a sun spot . Tonight we have all the pups out in  the living room as usual and she is running!! She's making a great attempt to catch our 2lber Tate!! We almost couldn't believe our eyes!! She seems to be up for any challenge that comes her way! We again feel this is a promising sign for her future! Thanks to all for the prayers ...they seem to be working!!

Update 10/18/08:Posey did good....she had her brace/cast changed. Dr. Farabaugh is thrilled with what she can do and shocked that she can do anything...it's the most severe case any of the Drs. at Angell have see. Her Dr has consulted with 4 other specialists and radiologists. They are unsure if she even has both C1 and C2 vertebrae or if she has "dens" between the bones...it's so severe they feel she may have NOT have what she needs to be able to fix.....she's very deformed or severely injured or both. they really don't know where this is going to take us...she may live her life in a neck brace...they can make it smaller as she gets older and stronger...and her bones are hardened. OR she may fuse or she may need surgery...right now she's a first so they can't predict anything...just let her life as is and hope for the best. They want her to live as she is living ....nothing crazy but certainly don't want her in a box for a year waiting for surgery or healing that very well may not happen. He says because they have never seen anything like it and don't know how she's walking she may just live her life in the brace but that she's certainly got quality if she's allowed to have one. He said things may get clearer in the months that pass but it may not be know for some time. If things don't improve when she's closer to full grown and a year old they will make a determination on what to do then...for now we sit and wait and go every week or so for brace change and an Xray now and then.

Update 11/6/08: For the past week we have seen Posey continually have more trouble getting around. She was falling more than ever before and seemed very frustrated that she could not do the things she was able to do just the week prior. I emailed her neurologist Dr. Farabaugh at Angell Memorial with our observations and asked if this meant we had no more options for her. He emailed me back almost immediately and said that what we could be seeing is just that the cast she was in was not giving her the support she needed and could we get her in right away today for a cast change. Our appointment was for noon today and he took her in right away. The cast she is now in is very much like her original cast. We should know in 72 hrs if she will get improvement and have back what she had gained mobility wise.  We are very much praying that this is the case and was an easy solution. But the doctor also said that if we do not see the improvement it very well may mean that she is deteriorating and that a decision might need to be made. PLEASE keep positive thoughts and prayers heading her way. She has fought so hard and come so far and is such a little miracle we hate to see it slip away.

UPDATE:12/06/08 Posey's cast change worked last month and not only has she recovered what she was doing prior to her set back but she has gained mobility and is doing wonderful!! We are more the excited to say she is actually running and chasing her foster siblings and is trying to keep up with just about everything they can do! Today she was seen again for yet another cast change and Dr Farabaugh was THRILLED at her progress! She is backing up, spinning, can sit, lay down with head up and can climb up into a bed about 4 inches high....so she is definitely acclimated to her cast....and as she grows it doesn't seem nearly as big. Prayers are working please keep them up!

UPDATE 1/03/09: Posey is doing just wonderful! She was seen for another cast change on Sat and Dr Farabaugh felt we could try cutting her cast down to give her more mobility. It's working! She is starting to try jumping up and has a little bounce in her step. She can now get a real belly rub and it's so nice to have her look like more puppy and less cast! We do have to watch for raw spots were the cast can rub but if all goes well we do not have to take her in for another cast change for three weeks!

Update 2/04/09: Posey had another cast change today and Dr Farabaugh is absolutely amazed and the improvements she continues to make! He stated that she has far surpassed what they had ever expected for her at this point. We can go forward with caring for her in other ways. So we have scheduled her spay surgery at Angell Memorial so that Dr Farabaugh will be on hand. She will also be under the care of  Dr Rosenblad for the removal of her retained baby teeth while she is under anesthesia. We didn't want her to have to go under twice so they are coordinating it for her to get all she needs at once. Her cast will remain on during the surgery for the needed stability of her still very fragile vertebrae. We were asked to do a video of her playing in her foster home and we hope to have that done and posted soon. There is no keeping this little imp down and we are so very pleased at how she's doing and that Dr Farabaugh has given her this chance!

Update:2/12/09: Posey will be spayed and have her baby teeth removed at Angell Memorial tomorrow w/Dr Farabaugh and Dr Rosenblad. She will remain there overnight for observation and if all goes well she will come home Sat. mid day. Please keep her in your prayers.

Update2/28/09: Posey had her spay and  24 remaining baby teeth removed! She went through the surgery with no ill effects and has recovered nicely.

Update 3/11/09: Posey was seen for yet another brace change and with this visit Dr Farabaugh is now actively working on getting her into a permanent type brace. He did some preliminary fittings and with her next visit we MAY have something to start working towards.

Above you can watch the short videos of the progress Posey has made in the past months. As you can see she is doing amazing without surgery and with the brace in place. This is why  the Vet and we feel that it's not worth the risk to her life to get a better result. She is doing almost everything a normal pup can do and enjoys life to the fullest. We will be looking to get a brace made that would be removable for bathing etc.

We thought with the recent Liver Shunt pups we should give you all more background on this dreadful condition that is become more prevalent in our beloved breed. Below is a link to some success stories including Bella who came into Yorkies Inc in early February 2006. She is now known as "Paisley" Please take the time to read her story and that of the other Liver Shunt Survivors. Through this link you can also find other links for more info on Liver Shunt's and what it means to the pup and the owner. We'd like to thank a good friend Stephen Glass for featuring Paisley and getting the word out about Liver shunts.
