Bessie &
Martha

Hi Cathie,I wanted to let you know things are going well. The
girls were great in the car but were pretty apprehensive
approaching the house. We took them in and got them settled
into the kitchen. They did not want to eat at first. I think
Wid finally hand fed them around 8 pm but then they ate up
everything. Martha is doing very well with the leash and going
outside. She has been peeing and this morning even pooped on
the leash. Bessie finally peed but I think she will eventually
have to go poop outside. We have been getting them out just
about every hour. I am giving them treats when they come back
in the house so they know the house is not a terrible place. I
even got Martha to follow me around the downstairs this
morning. I think she is already making progress so we are
pleased. They love to be held and petted and we are trying to
do as much of that as possible. They really are cute. I
haven’t heard a bark from either of them. They ate their food
right up this morning so I was really happy about that. I gave
Martha one of the chew sticks this morning and she really seemed
to enjoy it. I think it will take some time but I think they
will eventually come around. They are very good natured and
sweet. I think Martha is really doing well and hopefully Bessie
will pick up on her actions and be less shy. They are fun to
have and we will just have to be patient with their training. I
am putting a check in the mail today and will be anxious to hear
about Martha’s biopsy results. I’m glad she will be with us for
a while before her next surgery. Thanks so much for all your
help and the great goodie bags they got to bring home. We have
gotten out some of their toys and are trying to play with them.
I’ll keep you posted on their progress. I wish I could be home
with them instead of at work but I know they are in good hands
at home.Regards,
Jane
A. Spaulding
Update 12/29/10:
The girls are doing very well. Still pretty shy and timid but
slowly warming up to us. We got Bessie to pee and poop on the
leash this morning which we were thrilled about. Cathie’s trick
about feeding them in their crate last night worked well. In
the mornings they seem hungry enough that they will eat outside
the crate. Martha will now step out the door and step back in
when we go out. In the beginning we were carrying her. I still
carry Bessie in and out but I’m sure she will eventually do it
on her own. They are absolutely the sweetest girls and don’t do
anything wrong. I am hopeful that they will come out of their
shells soon. I know it may take a while but they are doing
great with us. Regards,
Jane
A. Spaulding
Update12/31/10:Good
Morning,The dogs seem to be more relaxed as the days go by.
Bessie only seems to be peeing and pooping once a day. We
take her out but she usually doesn’t go. Martha does
something every single time we go out. They are now walking
all the way around the house and will usually walk up the
stairs. We haven’t gotten them to go down yet but I am going
to try and work on that this weekend. Bessie is definitely
the more obstinate of the two and much more frightened. She
is not as easily bribed with treats but I can see she is
making some progress. We have them sit near us either in the
kitchen or in the living room and they seem pretty
comfortable. They have yet to have any accidents in the house
and yesterday for the first time my husband heard Martha bark
at a dog outside. That is the first peep we have heard from
her. They really are good girls and have no bad behaviors
except that they are fearful. I am hoping time with us will
eventually cure that. I’m sure they are totally distrusting
of us. Have a very happy New Year! I will be able to spend
the next 3 days at home with the dogs so I am really looking
forward to that. Regards,
Jane A. Spaulding
1/05/10:Hi Cathie,The girls are going to the vet tomorrow
night at 6 pm. I am faxing Dr. Kasow the biopsy report today
so she can take a look at it before I get there. I will give
you a call tomorrow night and let you know how it went. Both
dogs are doing much better and getting a little less shy every
day. Martha tries to get Bessie going when they are together
in the living room. Bessie is actually picking up some toys
and chewing on them. Martha has been marking so I think I am
going to put the diaper back on her. She was really good for
a few days but I will feel more relaxed having them run around
if she has the diaper on. I think eventually we can send it
back to you but I hate to interrupt her exploring around the
house because I am worried about her marking. They are both
going up and down the stairs and both come out of the crate
more. Regards,
Jane A. Spaulding
1/7/10:Hi Cathie, The girls went to the vet last night and
checked out a-okay. Our vet, Dr. Kasow said she would not
operate on Martha. She reviewed the biopsy report and felt
the nodule(s) and said since the biopsies came back benign she
would just keep on eye on them but would not operate right
now. Bessie did have something stuck in her paw which the vet
got out. We can put some antibiotic cream on a little sore
that she has and keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t get
worse. She thought it should heal on its own without any
antibiotics. It’s a super small little pimple like thing.
Every day continues to get better. Martha and Bessie have
started playing together a bit and Bessie is voluntarily
coming out of her crate more. I am really happy that they are
doing better. They both actually came to greet me this
morning when I came down to see them. They wouldn’t come
right up to me so I could touch them but it’s the first time I
know Bessie has come out of her crate to try and greet me. It
may be little but it made me feel good that they are adjusting
and maybe even starting to like us. They are really good
about going for walks on their leashes. The cars still scare
Bessie and she has to stop sometimes but we keep on walking
and she seems to be gaining more confidence. Regards,
Jane A. Spaulding

Sydney
now Sasha

Brenda w/Brandy & Walter
w/Sasha
Hello, I just had to let you know how my first day went with
my new Mom and Dad. I got to sleep in a king size bed with my
sister Brandy. Mommy put my pink blanket you gave her in it
for me to feel safe and warm. It worked to. I got up only 1
time and it was around 3:00am. Mommy said it was to cold to go
out, so I went on the pee pee pads. I am not used to the
doggie steps yet so Mommy had to carry me. After that we went
to go back to bed and Daddy and Brandy moved into our spot. So
Mommy and I went on the recliner and I fell asleep in Mommy
arms until 7am. I was nice and warm to. I had no problem
getting used to my new life style. After you left I had a busy
afternoon. I got to meet my new Nana and Papa. They even
brought me some toys. I got alot of kisses and Nana started to
cry she said I was so beautiful. But we already knew that .
Then Auntie Nancy got to hold me and more kisses... I love
that you know. Nana and Papa said I have to go to their house
for Christmas with Brandy. Mommy & Daddy wouldn't have it any
other way. Today it is snowing to much for us to go out. Daddy
put extra pads down. I missed the pad the first time. But got
it right the second try. I will get better in time but not to
worry it will be fine. Mommy said I will go see a new doctor
with the paper work you gave her on Tuesday. When we go and
get my sister Brandy. Mommy took some pictures. I will have
to send you some. I will always be thankful for you finding me
my new home. I will always remember you and love you. When we
get together again be ready for some kisses. You and the rest
of every one at the house have a special and happy Christmas.
With all my love Sydney xoxoxo. Mommy and Daddy and Brandy
said Thank you. Because of you and I their lives are so much
richer. Now everyone is so Happy. Please keep in touch. I will
be going now as Brandy and I are getting ready to take a nap
on the loveseat together. Thank you from the bottom of our
hearts. Love Sydney, Brandy, and Walter and Brenda
Update 12/23/09:Cathie, Sorry it took so long to get back to
you. Yes we all went to the vets. Brandy will not get her
test results back from Boston for another few days. We are all
praying for her. If we have to put her back on chemo then that
is what we will do. As long as she is pain free and does not
suffer. She is sleeping in bed all by herself right now. And
everyone fell in love with Sydney, but for some reason I keep
calling her sasha. She ans to both names. At the vets she
made out real good. She now weight is 6.4 lbs. Doc Wessell
said she is so cute. She cuddled a little with him. Asked how
you were doing. I do have to tell you sasha/sydney is so
beautiful. and we all are so blessed to have her. Brandy looks
for her at times during the day. Right now sasha is chewing
on that twist chew you gave her. Walter and I are going to
petco tomorrow and we need a few things their. I will bring
all the info we need, plus the coupons. My neighbor Kathy
wanted to know if sasha's paws have touched the ground yet? I
said only if they have to. I think Walter lost his recliner to
Sasha. We put the doggie steps their and she lay's in the
chair during the day, and he will not move her. I am on
vacation for the next 2 weeks so we will work on her bathroom
training. All in all she is doing wonderful. Walter and I can
not thank you enough. She loves her pink blanket. I might
have to order another one from you so she has one while one is
in the wash. I will let you know how Christmas goes. We all
send love and hugs. Brenda.
Update 12/25/09:Cathie,
I hope you had a beautiful Christmas. I sure did. Santa
came, as he knew I was a good girl. I got so many new
things, I got a new pink blanket, got a warm coat with a
hood from my sister. My own pillow with a warm pillow cover.
And more toys. Then we went to see grandma Cwiek at the
nursing home. Mommy took more pictures. Everyone fell in
love with me. I really liked it their. I will have to go
back some time. I think I made some of the residents real
happy. They really loved patting me and holding me. Mommy
said I behaved real good. Then we went to the Taunton Police
station to say hi to my Auntie Deb, she was the dispatcher
today. And then off to see more family members. I fell
asleep tho. Time for my nap. Around 4 we all are going to
see Nana and Papa. And I will get to play with Jessie.
Brandy will sleep most of the time. But we will all have a
good time. Daddy said I can have the rocker glider after
the tree comes down. Can't wait for that. My own chair with
doggie steps. This way I can come and go as I want to. Life
is great. Have a safe and Healthy New year to.
Love from the Cwiek Family.
Update 1/10/10: Good
afternoon Cathie, Here it is another week. And I have to tell
you that every thing is going great. Sasha is our love. The
nursing home people love her to. What a beautiful girl she is. I
was wondering who did her grooming when you brought her here. I
would like to keep her like this. We hope every thing is great
with you and the family. Again Thank you so much for Sasha. We
are so blessed to have her. And a little up date on her potty
training. She now uses a doogie litter pan and doggie litter. So
on cold days or raining days she doesn't have to go out. We
still have the pee pee pads when we go visiting. I will write
again. Love Sasha and Brenda and Walter. God Bless you all.
Update:2/13/2010:Cathie,
Happy Valentines day. I went for a hair cut, Mommy took me to
Kim's grooming. Kim said I did real good until she started to
cut my hair, but after awhile I did settle down. When Mommy and
Daddy came for me I went crazy, I just had to get into Mommy
arms, I think she missed me as much as I missed her. Things are
going real well here. I got Daddy some candy for tomorrow. Mommy
said she knows for sure I am getting something to. We will stop
by someday to say hi. Until then Hugs and Kisses. Love Sasha.
Mommy and Daddy said hi and they hope you all have a great day
tomorrow. And Thank you so much for me.
Update 5/22/10:
Cathie, Hi hope things are going great with everyone. Just
wanted to check in to say things are going wonderful. Not to
worry Sasha has US trained. As we all knew that was going to
happen. She is all set with using the litter box. No misses
for quite some time now. She loves to be outside, but I have
to be in eye site of her. She loves the deck and now has her
own chair. Sasha got a new lookout seat for the car. This way
she can see better even tho after 5 minutes she will lay down
and sleep. But as soon as we stop she gets up. She can not
miss anything. Have a great summer, and hope to get to see
you again. Love Sasha and Brenda and Walter

Tidbit
now Tabby

Rocco w/Tibit & Alma
w/Princess
Hi Cathie,
Tabby is doing well, she is my shadow. She follows me
everywhere. The only problem is getting her to pee outside.
Other than that she is settling in fine. She is a little
lovebug. I will be setting up a vet appointment the week of
December 28th. It is to hectic this week to do it.
She an Princess are doing okay. No fights, no growls they just
tolerate each other. I hope you and your family have a wonderful
holiday.
Alma
Update 12 2/3/2009
Hi
Cathie,Tabby is doing well. The only problem is getting her
to go outside to do her business. I have set up an
appointment with the vet for January 2nd. If that
is to late let me know. There is a particular vet I like to
see, Dr Murdoch and she is not available when we get out of
work. Tabby is a lovebug. She also found her bark. When I am
in the kitchen and she wants my attention she will bark at me
for a treat. I am very happy with her. Thanks again,
Alma Proia
Update 12/30/09:Cathie,Just to update you that Tabby is doing
well. She is doing a little better in potty training but not
there yet. She runs around the house like she has been there
forever. She and Princess do well together. I am afraid I
have spoiled her. She is always on my lap watching TV, she
runs to the cupboard where the treats are when she comes in
from her walk. She is just a treasure. I will e-mail you on
Monday, about her vet visit on Monday. Have a great New Year.
Alma Proia
Update 2/4/10:Hi
Cathie, Just an update on Tabby. She is adjusting
beautifully to our home. She and Princess get along fine.
Tabby follows Princess around the house. If Princess is
sleeping Tabby will stand over her and watch. Potty
training is coming along. Still has accidents during the
night but does pretty well during the day. Take care,
Alma Proia
Update 3/26/10:Hi
Cathie, Just an update on Tabby. She is doing great.
Potty training is coming along. It will be much easier
when I retire in May. She finally wiggled her way into
the bed. Now at night she waits at the bedroom door for
us to go to bed. She is a love.
Take care, Alma Proia

Luka

Mary w/Chooee and Noreen
w/Daisy (l) & Luka (r)
Hi Kerri, Luka is
coming out of his shell. Just a bit ago he and chooee were
jumping and playing and even daisy was getting in on the
action...Luka is sleeping with Daisy and I he is as quiet as a
mouse. Every now and then you hear a little bark when someone
sneezes it's the cutest thing. I have been puppy PAD training
him mostly because he just doesn't like the outdoors. Plus it
has been soo cold. He has been going on the pads beautifully.
He is a love and everyone loves him. It's hard not too. We will
be sending a Christmas picture/card soon. Daisy and Chooee are
being groomed on Thursday it was too late to add Luka but he
looks adorable anyway. Talk about a proud mama. He is really
doing great and adjusting beautifully. We just adore him.

JuJu

Dear Kerri, Our
little JuJu has become part of our family very quickly. She is
part of our very fiber. I don’t know how we made it without
her! She is happy and loves to greet us every time we arrive
home, she enjoys car rides, long walks, she attended a
children’s tea party with Shelby and I…she was a huge hit in her
Mrs. Santa outfit, she dresses up regularly and Shelby has to
add bling J to everything she owns. She is a regular at my
office and blends right in. She has a bed in my office, in my
bedroom, in Shelby’s bedroom and the living room. I would say
she is quite comfortable. Thank you so very much for providing
the opportunity to give JuJu a
home. She is truly a precious addition to our household and
loved by many!

Maverick
now Buddy

Well, the two
pooches slept side by side on our bed, between us, nice as can
be. He caught on to the steps next to the bed after one lesson
and now goes up and down with MaggieMae. In the last 12 hours,
the name has been Gus, Oscar, Tobey, Goldie, Jake,
Buster, Bandit, Oliver and a few I can't even remember. Then, we
realized we were saying, "come on Buddy, time to go out" - so
he's Buddy. (Buddy Holly for Christmas?!) It fits him. I can't
believe what a cuddle bug he is - he comes right up and stands
up next to my chair, paws on my knees to be picked up for a rub
as I type here. He seems a bit shy with Vin - maybe no - or bad
- contact with men in the past. He goes out every time
MaggieMae does - and that's more often than she is used to - she
pees then he marks the spot himself. Smart little guy. Our vet
appointment is Saturday so she can remove the stitches at the
same time. We'll keep you posted. Did I ask when your
Christmas Giving Tree is going up on your website?
Betsy & Vin, MaggieMae and Buddy
Update 12/10/09:I worked
overnight last night (as usual) and tonight, so during the day
today, I was in bed all day - with my two fuzzy companions. I'm
not sure what kind of space breeder dogs have to live in, but
I'm sure he never thought he'd wind up sleeping on a down
comforter on a queen sized bed with a female Yorkie who wasn't
interested in sex!!! He cuddles right up like a little Teddy
bear, stareing me in the face. We discovered that he isn't
afraid of Vin and James if they are sitting down - chair, floor,
couch - it's just when they're standing that he drops to the
floor or bed on his back. He actually goes to Vin when he's
sitting watching TV, stands up and pats Vin's knees to be picked
up.
Vet at 1 this afternoon. I'm sure we're keeping him, Vin looked
at him Wednesday, then at me and said "You do realize, this dog
isn't going ANYWHERE. He's staying!" Yippee! Betsy
Update 12/12/09:Buddy had his vet visit
today, got his stitches out, ears cleaned out and general
checkup. He's been doing this strange thing with his top leg
when he lays on either side - Vin says it looks like he's trying
to kick start a motorcycle....Vet says both side have luxating
patella, but that Buddy is fixing it himself with the kick
motion, so not to worry. He weighs 5.4 pounds to Maggie Mae's
7.4. She'd gone down to 6 after Winston died. Of course Buddy
was kissing the vet and her tech, very cuddly. Everyone loves
him - especially us. Cash that check! Thanks for the best
Christmas present ever. Merry Christmas to you and all who work
with Yorkies.Inc. You're the best.

Chanel

Hi, we had our vet check up today, it went well,
the only thing he say that was not mentioned to us was a knee
that pops in and out which was normal for small dogs, he made me
a copy of the report for you, but we are all set, we love her
and she is doing so well!! She sleep well with us, she is
getting so she follows me everywhere, and I take her with me in
the car. Thanks so much for this special gift!!!! If you have
more question please give me a call, I will e-mail you the vet
report tomorrow, I have to go to the office to scan it in.
Chanel is sleeping in her bed right next to me. Love it!
Best, Dotti

Update 12/10/09:Hi,
Just want to let you know all is well, it seems like she has
always been here. She even don't mind going out in the snow, not
much for rain, but snow is ok. She had not used her papers for 3
days, just been going outside. She is really smart. Hope all is
well with you and your. If I don't speak to you again before
Christmas, have a great Christmas. I got the best present
ever!! Best,

Felix now Remy

Rick w/Felix(L) & Kiley( R)
Kiley & Remy
Hey Kerri,
Remy is amazing! We are so in
love with him. I can't imagine not having him, it's crazy how
he became part of the family instantly! Kiley is in love with
him and they wrestle and cuddle non-stop. He loves going on
walks and is interested in everything. He is still very timid
when he meets new people but he has never growled, barked or
nipped anyone. He doesn't really care for other dogs (besides Kiley,
who he loves), he just walks right by them like they don't
exist, or lets them sniff then keeps going. He jumps so high
and is crazy and he can balance on his back legs for soooo
long! We take him on long walks everyday and Kiley is tired
after but he's still ready to play! He's gained weight already
and looks so healthy! My family can't believe how different he
looks in just two weeks. He loves to get his picture taken,
which is good since we have been taking sooo many of the two
of them together. Here are a few examples haha That picture of
Rick and the dogs is hilarious!
Thank you again so much for
him. We love him and he loves it here! He already knows our
scheduale and has made so many new friends!
- Jacqui, Rick, Kiley and Remy
:)
Update 1/20/2010:Hey
Kerri! Just wanted to update you on remy! He's doing amazing!
He's getting a lot more comfortable with strangers and loves
the dog park. He's very protective of me but not in a
bad way, he just wants everyone to know he's my
little guy ! He is better with people when they are visiting
us at our home rather than him being out of his comfort
zone...Also, almost a
month
ago he was running
around being nuts with kiley and ran into the leg of the
table! He had a small bloody nose so we took him to the vet
And they did a chest xray and found out he had a previous case
of untreated pneumonia with some scar tissue present... They
said as long as he stays healthy it shouldn't affect him in
the long run! He's doing amazing now after two rounds of
antibiotics and eye drops( which he hated)! He had to get
fluids and they missed the first iv so both his front paws are
shaved and they just started to look less noticeably shaved
haha but anyways all is well...Just messaging you to tell you
thanks again!! Also I just bought a house with a
fenced in backyard! Remy and Kiley are going to be in heaven!
We move in on Tuesday!! So if you ever find yourself
overwhelmed with fosters, we would be able to help you out!
There is ton of room and the backyard is huge and very
safe!! Thanks again remy is very loved! -

Betty
& Blanche now
Ginger & Lovey

Alyssa w/Lovey, Kayla w/Ginger and Jessica w/Gilligan!
Hi Cathie, Betty & Blanche are doing great! As you know we
have changed their names to Ginger & Lovey to go along with
our black Lab, Gilligan, who is enjoying his new playmates!
They are very playful and love to give lots of kisses. At
night , they become great cuddlers and sleep with us on our
bed! Lovey had a tough time adjusting to my husband, Mike, but
after some one on one time and LOTS of positive reinforcement
& treats, she has grown to love him too (most of the time)!
It's a work in progress. I can't tell you how much we love
these little girls! My kids think this is the best (early)
Christmas present, ever!!! Thank you! Thank you!
Thanks again,
Mary Grace

Addy

Cathie, I want to thank you for Addy. I am in love
with her! She is the most gentle dog I have ever had. I
have brought her with me to many places. One of them is
McLean Home; it is a nursing home that I work at three
days a month. Everyone their has fallen in love with her
and because of her gentleness, they suggested that I use
her for therapy dog. She sure does cause quite a stir
when people see her. I
can't say enough about her; she is the love of my
life, She is so good when I take her out she does her
business very quickly and I am always praising her. She is
loving and I know she rules the household, but very
quietly, although when she wants my attention she talks to
me in her dog language. Where I live we are only allowed
one dog per family, but if the rules were different, I
would love to have another yorkie.

Jenny

Cheryl w/Jenny,
Krysten w/Rusty & Steve
Hello, This is Krysten the
daughter of Stephen and Cheryl, who recently adopted Jenny. My
father is at work and was hoping to email you but
unfortunately his internet is down. He asked me to email you
to give you an update on her. She had a great night last
night. Today she was very active. She went for an extensive
walk with Rusty and myself. When we returned she was still
full of energy so we kept her on the leash and played with her
green ball toy that she arrived with on the driveway. After
about 15 minutes on the driveway, I decided to go into the
house and then surprisingly her and Rusty started to play
together. Finally after a few hours of activity she calmed
down and laid on the bed right between Rusty and I, she slept
for about an hour while I worked on some homework on the bed
with them. My mom and I decided to let her stretch her legs in
the backyard later on in the afternoon. We fenced up the back
and over great supervision she ran through the backyard for at
least a half hour. We wanted to see how she would do in the
car so we took a short ride to my Grandmothers house so she
could meet Jenny. After a long day of play, she is currently
snuggled up on the couch with my mom. Thank You
The Almeida Family
Hi Cathie, Jenny is doing wonderful. Each day that goes by,
we have become more and more attached to each other. The Vet
visit went well on Tuesday and Dr. Donovan says that she is
doing well. She did cry a little when he stretched out her
leg, but he stated that it would still be sore and is still in
the healing process. We did go over how I can help with the
healing and he showed me how to stretch and massage her. Dr.
Donovan did mention that Jenny also has floating kneecaps (I
do not remember the medical term). He stated that it is not a
concern right now, but to watch her to see if it becomes
difficult for her to jump up and get down from things. We
talked about other medical issues that might arise in the
future (liver and bladder stone issues, etc. because of
Raison). He advised that I just keep a close watch on any
changes in behavior and eating habits. Overall, Jenny was a
good patient, but at first was a little cautious about them
touching her and checking her out (ears, mouth, heart, etc.).
I picked up Interceptor and Frontline Plus while I was there
for her. Jenny still gets very easily distracted when we are
outside or going for walks. We need to work on the focus
training. She responds very well when I call her and listens
when I talk to her. They are very intelligent dogs and all
they need is good supervision and interaction. She met my
daughters’ dogs the other day and did quite well. They played
and ran around the back yard. By the end of the day, Jenny
was exhausted, but she had fun. Thanks for all of your
assistance. We’ll keep in touch. Love, Jenny and Cheryl |

Vicki w/Murphy
Jim w/top Murphy, Skippy (both adopted
Yorkies Inc.) Paige & Kamia

We are almost through 3
full days with Trouble, whom we have renamed Murphy! He is
doing amazingly well. He is running and playing with the
other dogs and doing really well on our walks. He has not
had one accident since he has been here. We are so happy! |
|
UPDATE 10/10/09:Cathie,
Let me just say that you could not have Murphy back if you
wanted him. He is definitely a family member. He is
napping with Jim, Skippy, Kamia and Paige right now. We
did take him to the vets and all is well. Thank you so
much for putting both Skippy and Murphy into our lives. We
are so appreciative. I will send the box of treats I told
you about soon.

Molly

Lisa w/Chaka & Cheryl w/
Molly
Cathie, Molly had
her vet checkup and stitches removed. She is in perfect
health. She's made herself at home here, and we love her.
She's walking on a leash, she loves to run through the backyard
and she has her own chair, which she's learned to jump on. She
and Chaka are starting to play together now. Molly is getting
used to toys. At first, she didn't know what to do with them.
She enjoys riding in her carseat right next to Chaka. She's
really coming out of her shell...she's not so timid anymore. And
she loves to have her tummy rubbed!! So we are officially
adopting her. Thank you for helping us find the perfect match.
We're so grateful you didn't give up on us. You were
right...everything does happen for a reason and Molly turned out
to be the reason. Here's some pictures. We'll keep in touch.
Hugs, Cheryl, Lisa, Chaka and Molly

9/26/09:Hi Cathie! I thought you'd be happy to know that
today Molly and Chaka laid down next to each other for the
first time! Molly is right at home now. Everyone who
comes to the house, comments that she behaves like she's
always been here and not for just two weeks. She loves to
jump on her chair and make herself comfortable. That's
her private spot. She's very focal. She's not shy about
letting us and Chaka know when she wants attention. She
eats all her food and today we discover that she like
plain yogurt. She is loved much. Thank you!
Lisa, Cheryl, Chaka and
Molly
Update10/10/09Hi Cathie, Molly is a sweetheart and we love
her very much. She loves to snuggle and loves to have her
tummy rubbed! She and Chaka are getting along very well.
Outside they chase each other all over the backyard. If
Chaka stays outside too long, Molly keeps checking to make
sure Chaka is okay. Inside Chaka lets Molly play with all
her toys. Molly is still learning to play with toys but
Chaka tries to get her to play along. When Molly first
came here, her tail was always tucked under but now she’s
wagging her tail and she does a happy dance when she gets
excited. We still have them separated while we are at work
because Molly can jump on the couch and chair but she
can’t jump down yet. Plus she is still learning to do all
her “pooping” outside. Once she has mastered that, our
parents (who have fallen in love with Molly too) will be
able to baby-sit a day or two while we are working.
We took Chaka for her yearly vet checkup this past
week. We only let her get the rabies vaccine and she got a
reaction to it! They gave her a steroid shot and Benadryl
and that worked very quickly. It was very scary but she is
doing fine now. The vet said the next time she is due for
her rabies shot (in two years), they will give her a shot
of steroids first to counter act the vaccine. I noticed
that Molly had a 1 year rabies vaccine. Why is hers for
only 1 year? They can titer for the rabies vaccine, right?
We are really going to have to look into that now.
Cheryl, Lisa, Chaka and Molly
11/2/09:Hi Cathie, We thought
you’d like to know how Molly is doing. She’s a sweet,
precious gem and has endeared herself to all the
family. She and Chaka have very different
personalities, and yet they get along well. Molly has
gained confidence, and she’s a very happy little girl
who wakes up every morning doing her little, twirling
happy dance. She loves running through the backyard and
keeps an eye out for Chaka when Chaka stays outside too
long. Her training to go outside is still coming along,
slowly but surely. We thought at one point her urinary
infection had come back. After a urine test, exam and
an x-ray, it turns out that Molly has a lot of alkaline
and crystals in her urine, which could form into stones
if she doesn’t drink enough water. We thought she was
drinking enough, but now we’ve taken extra care to make
sure she drinks frequently. The vet suggested adding a
drop of milk or chicken broth to her water. We’ve been
adding the chicken broth, and Molly seems to like it.
Also, Molly loves carrots, so we’ve been cutting up a
baby carrot and putting it in a little bowl of water.
She has to drink the water to pick up the carrot and
that has worked beautifully. If you have any other
suggestions or experience with this sort of thing,
please let us know. Molly goes back in a month to be
re-checked.
Hugs,
Lisa, Cheryl, Chaka and Molly

Cathie, we’ve been anxiously
awaiting Addy’s happy tail. We were wondering
whether you thought Addy’s new mom might be
interested in a playdate sometime, so Molly and
Addy could reunite. Molly loves being around
other dogs. They’re mother and daughter, right?
Or are they sisters? Anyway, I don’t know where
Addy’s mom is from, but we would gladly drive to a
meeting spot so Molly could see Addy again. Also,
I’ve included a new pix of Molly I forgot to send
with my first email. Lisa |

Pistol
now Bristol
Hi Cathie, Bristol is doing just great, his eye still has a
little scarring but I believe it will shrink in time.
Otherwise he eats very well now, walks with his head up, tail
up and stays on the left hand side of me and even heels! I
think he was just shy at first, but what a walker now. Scott
is going to give me a lesson of uploading pics and will have
soon for you. Thanks for writing, Sharon
Update 10/14/09:Hi Cathie, I talked to my mom and she said
she would be getting back to you regarding Bristol the Pistol
(that's what the kids call him). I can tell you that he is
doing awesome and I would bet you don't have a chance at
getting him back from her LOL. She is absolutely in love with
him he is doing great. Thanks again for everything and I will
talk to you soon. Scott

SuSu
Susu did great last night; she slept in
Karina's room with the door closed and didn't have an
accident, or any problems for that matter. I went in this
morning to get Susu so I could take her out and she was sound
asleep right next to Karina. She's still marking the rug but
not too bad, and I plan on replacing the rug and kitchen floor
within the next year, so I'm not concerned. The dogs seem to
be respecting each other and their food dishes, although one
of us stays in the room while they eat. Lucky is eating the
same as Susu and seems to like it, but I'm adding one
tablespoon of his canned food for now. Susu seems to like the
walks more and more. I walked them around 7am, my son Nick
took them out around 10:30-11:00, and Karina took them out
about 3pm, then I took them on our usual walk from 7-8pm. When
we walk at night it's a very slow walk, mostly my neighbor and
I chatting and the dogs sniffing around; not too strenuous.
I'll be home by 3pm tomorrow, (my kids are home), and I'll
give you an update then. Thanks Carolyn
Update 9/7/09:Hi
Cathie, Things are still going well here,
pretty much the same as yesterday. SuSu slept in Karina's
room again last night and I took her out in the morning
and walked her with Lucky. The kids took them out twice
today and when I got home from work I took them for a walk
to the park and they both pooped. I've started pricing
fences but I can't decide what I want yet so I need to
make a decision on that. I'll let you know tomorrow how
it's going but so far so good…Talk to you later, Carolyn
Update 9/10/09:Good
morning Cathie,
Sorry I missed you yesterday; my son got his car on
the road (yikes!!) and I had to get all the insurance,
registry, etc. stuff done, and I didn't check my
email. Lucky and SuSu are still not interacting too
much but they do play once or twice a day and it's so
funny. SuSu always starts it and Lucky jumps right up
and they run around the house, first with SuSu chasing
Lucky then they reverse in the dining room and they
come out with Lucky chasing her, then they switch
again and SuSu chases Lucky. My kids and I were
sitting on the couch watching this the first time and
laughing our heads off, it is so funny. They're both
wagging their tails so I know they're playing and
afterwards they both just lay down. I actually think
SuSu would keep playing but Lucky is always the first
to end it. Lucky is still acting aloof around SuSu and
turns his back to her alot, but he hasn't shown any
signs of aggression or anger towards her. He's just a
drama king but I think little by little SuSu is
warming him up. I also think because Karina has made
SuSu her dog, Lucky is less jealous of her than he
would be if she were always with me. One more thing; I
took them to the park yesterday (I let them run around
the fenced-in field for awhile) and on our way back a
big dog got loose from it's owner and ran straight for
SuSu and Lucky ran forward and started barking and
snarling at the dog. The owner got the dog before he
got to us but Lucky was definitely protecting SuSu
because she was right in front of me and Lucky was way
off to my left and the dog was going for her, not him,
and he put himself between SuSu and the other dog. I
was very proud of him!! Well, I'll let you know how
today goes; I'm home until 2:30 and my kids are home
at 1:45 so someone will be home all day.
Carolyn
Update
10/1/09:Hi
Cathie,
Sorry it's been so long, I've been working alot
the past few weeks and I'm way behind in
everything. SuSu is doing fine, she is definitely
Karina's pal and still sleeps with her every
night. Things haven't changed much between her and
Lucky but Lucky does seems less anxious than
before. I took SuSu to the vet last week but they
had an emergency and had to bump us so I have to
reschedule that. I also haven't had time to look
at the fences but I promise I will, it will make
life so much easier for all of us. Right now their
walking schedule is; 7:00 am, 2 pm, 5 pm, and 8
pm, and if I'm home during the day then the 2 pm
walk becomes a noon time walk. She really seems to
love walking around and seeing the neighbors and
their dogs; she's very friendly and everyone comes
over to greet her when they see her. Karina's
camera isn't working, and again I'm just way
behind in everything, but this weekend is
Homecoming at the HS so I definitely need to
address the camera situation by then, and I can
send you a picture when I do. I'll give you
another update when I send the pics. Take care,
Carolyn

Cosmo

Sean w/Belle (l) & Cosmo
(r)
Kerri, Cosmo is doing well. He has been to
doggy daycare twice this week and done ok. Belle seems to be
doing pretty well so far. Cosmo is an exceptionally nice dog.
They have played chase in the backyard a few times. Cosmo is
playing with one of his toys right now! You would be very
happy if you were here to see how nicely he has settled.
Sean
9/22/09:Kerri-Cosmo has been outstanding. He
is an amazing dog. Belle has had a hard time adjusting. Not
sure if she is depressed or sick-but taking her to see the vet
tomorrow. I have grown quite fond of Cosmo and he has really
bonded with me but Belle seems devastated. Will keep you
posted.
Sean
9/23/09:Kerri-Belle is on antibiotics, she is
perking up. Cosmo had a nice bath and haircut today at doggy
daycare. He looks great with his new fleece jacket.
Sean
9/26/09:Kerri, Cosmo is in
his forever home! Couldn't give him back even if I had to...he
is too sweet and thankful. He has really acclimated well. Thank
you for waiting for me, I think this is the perfect match for
him.

Charlie
now Mickey
Hi Kerri & Carol, We have to get together.
Charlie is a keeper. Boy does he snuggle. Today Charlie and
me went to Sears and Costco's Charlie was in my pink doggie
bag. No one even knew. It's a "YORKIE" world. Let me know
if you want to come over someday and which day. Same as
before - pizza & salad. I feel so lucky to have these
doggies. They are such great company.
Thanks again, Janet
9/5/09:Hi, Charlie is now Mickey... He
still doesn't respond to Charlie, but every time I tell
Teddy to go get Mickey (that's Teddy's favorite toy Mickey
Mouse) Mickey (Charlie) perks up his ears and listens. Oh
well, he's capture our hearts. Even Mark's. See you soon.
Can't wait. Janet

Trouble
now
Tribble

Cathie, Trouble
slept through the night with us in our bed, very comfortably and
soundly I must add. I did get him up to pee once during the
night and showed him his water dish, did not want either option.
We all got up at 6am, and I took him outside in the light rain
for about 5 minutes to no avail. even though I tried to keep a
close watch on him, since I know "what goes in must come out", a
couple of small accidents occurred after we came in. I am not
worried, he is a very intelligent little boy and is picking up
on so much more already, such as stairs. He has truly stolen
our hearts! Fast becoming "Yorkieites"
Jack and Denise
Update 8/29/2009:Hi
Cathie, I have a complaint. We just spent about $300 at Pet
Smart for treats, outfits, etc. Ha-ha. Just kidding. He’s
worth it even though he’s still not trained yet. The problem is
he’s so damn cute you can’t get upset at anything he does. On
another matter, only a couple of our friends think the name
Trouble is cute; the others think it makes him sound like a brat
so we’re trying to think of another name for him. Do you think
he would get screwed up if the new name didn’t sound like
trouble? One of the names I was thinking of was Peanut because I
always tell him he looks like a little Peanut. If you have any
suggestions, please let me know. He is sooooo cute. I’m already
in love with him even though he’s a little high maintenance
right now. He’s so affectionate. Denise
OMG, Tribble was one of the names I suggested to
Jack (I’m a big Star Trek fan) & thought it’s cute and close to
the other name. He initially didn’t seem receptive to the name
but now is really considering it thanks to you. We are still
having trouble or “tribble” with the housetraining but the
little guy is so smart & I know he will come around. He is
definitely worth the hassle. All our friends have come over to
see him & everyone agrees how cute and loveable he is. Hugs,
Denise
P.S. You should have seen how cute he
looked in his new raincoat today. OMG. He didn’t poop or pee
outside but what a little fashion plate he was.
Update 8/30/09:Cathie,
Tribble has been on a spending spree lately, yesterday at Pet
Smart and today at Pet Co. He picked out more toys, food,
clothes, and a life jacket. He is adapting nicely. I will try to
get pictures off to you tomorrow, promise.

Cassie

Pat w/Cassie left & Dan
with the other pups
Hi Kerri, Cassie
is just a wonderful little puppy. She had a very good day
playing with her new siblings and all their toys. All got along
very well. She did spend some time resting on her blanket with
her toys and seemed very happy. She went outside to the bathroom
and seemed to catch the others' scents. She slept with us and
had no problems at all curling up between us and next the
others. As you mentioned food is not her highest priority but we
did get a few bites into her and she did drink water and had
some Pediasure. We'll keep after it though and she seems fine.
Thanks so much, we'll keep you posted. Best,
Dan and Pat Kelly
Update
8/19/2009
Hi Kerri, Cassie had a great day yesterday. She’s really
enjoying the other dogs and they are playing with her. There is
a lot of running around going on amongst them all. She seems to
be doing well with the house training and is very smart. She ate
all of her dinner last night and again this morning, and slept
all night cuddled up without a peep. She has gotten to know the
house pretty well, and we’re figuring out her cues as well. All
in all it’s been a smooth transition, and she seems very happy.
We are thrilled to have her! We’ll keep you posted. Thanks
again,
Dan
Update 8/25/2009: Hi Kerri, All is going very well. Cassie is
eating regularly on schedule, actively playing with her new
siblings, and really starting to get the hang of going to the
bathroom outside. She is down the Cape with Pat this week, and
loves sitting on the screened porch, and gets very excited when
she walks by the Koi pond we have on our property and is very
interested in watching the fish.. She’s taken over the house as
if she always lived there, and loves to cuddle up in bed with
us. She went to the groomer on Saturday with our others and did
very well, and looks as cute as a button. All in all she seems
to be settling in nicely, and we are thrilled to have her. She
lays regularly on the blanket you left for her, and her little
pink and blue toys are still her favorites, though she does
enjoy stealing toys from the others as well. We’ll keep you
posted on her progress, and thanks again for all you did for
her, you saved her life! Best,
Dan |

Faith
now Lilya

Nancy
w/daughter Jessica & Faith now Lilya
Hi Kerri,
In
case Jessica didn't call...Lilya peed n pooped this am on a
walk. She loved the park last night and sleeps on Jessica's
bed. She hangs out in the crate w the door open a lot. We were
home with her all but an hour yesterday. She is so cuddly n
sweet. Thank you so much for letting us adopt her. See you
soon.
Nancy
9/1/2009:She
has been great. She knows her name, went for a swim, chasing
Jess across the soccer field at Derby, wags her tail like
crazy when jess arrives.
We adore her.

Sophie
now Shyanne

Sophie/Shyanne,
Pam & Snicks
Hi Kerri,
It's going great - I took them for another walk before I left
and she peed and pooped. She came right out from the
enclosure when I got home - although she wouldn't let me touch
her right away. She wanted to go for another walk and was very
into it. She came right in the house when we got home. I just
really left her alone and she took a nap in the living room
next to my husband laying on the couch. Later she let me pet
her quite a bit - didn't eat anything so far but maybe later.
She and Snick seem to be getting along fine - they having been
sniffing each other and she has been exploring the house. I
will take them for another walk in awhile but I think she will
be fine - I really love her personality. Thanks for the
picture!! I really enjoyed meeting you both and will
definitely keep in touch!! Pam
8/13/09: Hi Kerri - She seems to be coming around a little
bit more - she is acting like she did with you by hiding and
then sitting and listening to you talk to her when she comes
out. Although I have been able to pet her a lot - today she
mostly hid behind the end table again only really showing up
when I asked her to go for a walk and to eat when she heard
the food coming out. She seems to come out when my husband
talks to her - But she is eating fine so that's a good
thing. She and Snick still sniff each other - they played
just a little this morning outside but I'm sure she must
still be sore and hurting from her surgery too!!
8/14/09: Yeah I was really happy - this morning she was
reluctant to come out but I told her "walk" and that got
her. When we went out she and Snick played a little but when
they came in she ate and then they played some more. It
seemed like she was initiating most of the play too. So far
so good....I am really happy that she's acting this way
already - There was poop on the living room carpet this
morning too so I may have to close her off from there at
night - I just wanted to keep her where she was comfortable
last night and she always goes for that spot behind the end
table??!! The peeing still seems a lot but just a little bit
when she goes?? I may try to get her to the vet Mon or Tues
for stitches as well as a check for that?
8/15/09
YEAH - she went though the night last night with no
accidents - I took her out about 10 pm and then she came up
with us and slept under my bed all night - I got up a couple
of times and asked her if she wanted to go for a walk but
she looked at me and then went back to sleep. I took her
right out this morning and she peed and pooped right away.
So...maybe...we are over that hump??

Cody

Gary w/Cody (l) & ChaCha
(r) and Deb w/Yogi & Karma the kitty
Hi
Cathie, Well here are the pics of today. Cody is a great dog!
He missed you when you left so I sat down on the deck and he
came over to me and put his head on my chest for awhile. We sat
there for about 5 min. then he got up and took another look at
the driveway then we went in the house. He is making the
transition really well. I took the belly band off right away
and take him out to go "potty" every 20 min. It did not take
long for him to understand what I wanted. He still needs help
with the doggie door but is more willing to use it. My
daughter, her husband, my grandson 2.5 and granddaughter 1 yr.
stopped to visit. My friend came over with her Yorkie to visit
also. Cody fit right in. No problems, concerns for Cody,
grandkids, friend or the other Yorkie. I expected as much.
Just as you explained, Cody seems to like it here. It didn't
take him long in looking for my lap once I sat down on the
couch. So, it's only 3:06 in the afternoon and it seems like he
has been here forever. Thanks for a wonderful connection,
direction, and care you have given us and the puppies you care
for every day.
Deb, Gary, Cha Cha, Yogi, And now CODY!
8/3/2009: Hi Cathie, My grand kids just left so I have
not been able to get back to you until now. He is very good
around the family members who have come to visit and he is very
gentle when my granddaughter Lilly 2.5 gave him a couple
treats. Everyone is amazed to how calm, gentle and friendly he
is. Cody slept with us and did excellent until about 4:30 when
he went to lay down near Yogi. Yogi does not share his bed
space even with Cha Cha so he snapped at him. We redirected
Yogi right away. No harm was done but Cody chose to sleep the
rest of the night in the dog bed on the floor. Cody fell right
to sleep when we went to bed about 11 pm. I think he wanted to
go to bed about 9:30 but would not leave me and the couch. The
AM went very well but he wanted what the other dogs were
eating. It worked out well and everyone ate their breakfast.
The belly band was on only for the night and left off all day.
I was very surprised to find no marking when I got home from
work. He has been using the doggie door without problem
starting this morning :) All rugs were removed so it would be
easy to see if he left his mark. What a great dog. Today, or
should I say this afternoon when I got home from work Cody
started chasing Karma the cat and Cha Cha took off after him.
She really let him have it and made him scream when he tried to
get her. Cha Cha is great. She did not bit him or hurt him,
she acted like a protective parent and let Cody know he was not
to chase the cat. It took about two hours before Cha Cha went
over to Cody and touched noses with him. Almost like saying
your out of the dog house. I hope I explained it so your not
concerned, they are getting alone really well. Some things
still have to be worked out in the pack but from what I see and
know I think it is developing in a correct manner. I will keep
an eye on their development in the hierarchy of the pack. I did
find some marking once the grand kids arrived so I'm not sure
what that is about, stress or possession of space with different
kids from Sunday. Well we all have had a very busy day and our
Cody is in my lap resting from the day. He comes to me more
often which is really fast for day two. He likes me to pick him
up from the side and not face forward, interesting. I think it
has been stressful at times for Cody but he has shown that he
likes to be with me and the other family members by following
us, smelling us, letting us touch him. He doesn't hid, run away
from us, (well maybe the kids) which is a good thing. I can't
think of anything else right now but we are so happy to have
him. The adjustment is mostly the cat and that is just trying
to make her run so he can chase her. They eat in the same room
without paying attention to each other, the cat walks past him
without trouble starting. He does bark at her some times but he
is adjusting. Day Two, not bad. Oh, by the way he barks very
little. I think Yogi may start the barking when it does happen.
So now that I have written a short book I say goodnight. All is
well. E-mail to come tomorrow.
Deb
Update 8/4/2009: Happy to report not much to report!!! Cody
acts like he has always lived with us. He still chases the cat
and Cha Cha now tries to "let him have it" but, he is a vary
smart little dog, younger and runs faster than she can. I have
to say it is kind of funny watching Cha Cha trying to redirect
Cody when she can't catch him. In the house no chasing, out
side it happens. It's funny to see them all eat together, calm,
on the couch, relaxing, then once in awhile, the chase is
on. Sleeping went very well no interruptions. :) Cody has
fallen into step with our schedule and we have made
accommodations for him.....I'll take new pics soon and send
them. Very busy week so must take my kids out for their walk.
Deb

Update
8/6/2009:Hi Cathie, We just returned from our 1 hour walk
with the 3 puppies. He tries to take the lead but he must stay
behind the other two for now. He would take over the house if I
let him. He's starting to know where he is in our pack and not
fighting it. Thought you would like some more pics taken a few
min ago. You will be glad to hear that the cat and Cody are
doing better. The cat doesn't mind Cody at all, even if he
tries to make her run so he can chase her. We took Cha Cha &
Yogi to the vet today for their heart worm test. They are both
in good shape. I told my vet about Cody and would like to have
Cody's records sent to her so I can have the second lyme vaccine
given to him when it is due. How long does it take for your vet
to send the records to my vet? So as you already know, We love
him and would like to keep him. He fits into our lives like an
old shoe and has become part of our family. He loves sitting
out on the deck just watching life go by. Oh, did you know he
chases butterflies? He's become my shadow and loves to sit in
my lap. Cha Cha's not looking for my lap like she use to. She
like to stretch out on the same couch as me but not in my lap.
This has been a gradual change with the long periods of sleeping
due to the kidney failure. The vet started her on some vitamins
that maybe helpful, I hope so. I don't look forward to losing
her. Well enough of that. More pics to come this weekend. Have
a good evening,
Deb, Gary, Cha Cha, Yogi, Karma and Cody
Update 8/19/09: Hi
Cathie,I wanted to send the latest on Cody. It has been awhile
from my last update due to my fathers death last Thursday
evening. Cody has been by my side the whole time. He usually
demands to be taken on a walk each day but stopped when dad
passed and I spent some long hours in bed. Yesterday I guess he
felt it was long enough cause he requested a walk. Gary and I
took him with the other dogs and it was time to get out and
moving again. The other two dogs stayed by my side also but it
was more expected. Cody and the cat are working out their
pecking order. In the house the cat rules. Outside Cody tries
to make her run. Karma (cat) just raises a paw to Cody and he
backs off. She doesn't even use her claws. No marking behavior
going on and he is learning to share my lap with Cha Cha and
Karma. They take turns. The grand-kids love him and he is a
great addition to the family. Cody will get his 2nd Lyme shot
tonight. I had scheduled it for yesterday but I forgot due to
my dad's passing. My head is still not clear but better. You do
great work in the rescue of these little dogs. Thank you so
much,
Deb, Gary, Cha Cha, Yogi, Karma and Cody |

Angel

Hi Cathie, It
was nice meeting you today. I have to say I was a little
nervous after you left. Angel was whining and whimpering and
running around - I think she was searching for and missing
you. She settled down after a little while, but is certainly
a very active girl! As long as she can see everyone, she's
ok, but she clearly doesn't like it when people leave. I had
to go help my mom straighten out her computer for about an
hour and Scott said that she was really panicking--waiting
by the door the whole time. I'm sure this behavior will ease
up as she gets used to the new environment. She really seems
to like my mom. Mom and dad both think she's adorable. We
all sat out on the back deck for a while and she just kept
moving around between all of us for attention and loving.
She knows that 'good stuff' can be found in refrigerators.
She comes right over to investigate. She thought that she
should share our chicken dinner. When no chicken arrived in
her bowl, she ate all her dog food that you had put out
earlier; we gave her a few more pieces too, which she
happily ate. What a good girl. She's very persistent about
things; I can see that it would be very easy to give in to
such a sweet little girl--especially if you don't think
she's eating enough. She has an interesting little trick
with the water bowl. She likes to 'sweep' her paw through it
before she has a drink. Do you think this is because it's a
big bowl or is this just something that she likes to do?
Right now she's curled up behind me on the couch; she's
clearly exhausted. The eyes close every now and then, but
it's a big job to keep an eye on the two of us. We are going
to try bringing her to bed with us in a little while; we'll
see how that works out! Will update you tomorrow
evening. Thanks very much Cathie. I'll talk to you soon.
Regards,
Marcia and Scott
Update 7/22/09:Hi Cathie, We went to
the vet Tuesday for Angel's routine checkup. We also
had her checked for a UTI. She goes outside most of the
time, but has also used the pads occasionally and we
noticed that her urine was off color (brownish-and
speckled) and wanted to get it checked. The results came
back yesterday; no infection found. Dr Handel thought she
was very well mannered and had a great disposition. Angel
seems to like everyone she meets. Marcia got her a canvas
carry case and put a blanket inside. It is placed at the
front door so she can see everything that is going on. She
loves going inside when we are busy... yes sometimes, but
not often, we are not holding or playing with her! So I
guess we can say it's a happy adoption for all!!! Talk
with you soon

Artie

Debra w/Chou Chou (l) &
Artie (r)
Hi Cathie, Artie is doing very
well. I think He feels @ home. He and Chou Chou were playing
this morning chasing each other in and around the House .Great
to watch them getting along so well. Last Thurs. we walked in
the dog parade in town, East Greenwich} They had a "Dogs take
over the town night" Artie was a bit nervous at first but did
excellent. He can be a little shy I find mostly with Men but
that's OK .He is getting better with my husband. His vet appt.
is this Thurs night. I'll let You know the results. I can't
tell You how much I love my little Guy. Thank You Thank You.
Debra
Update 7/6/09:Hi
Cathie, He is doing very well. We had My parents and friends
over for Dinner and He attached himself to My Dad ,OF Course
Dad LOVES DOGS. My Husband thinks Artie is so handsome He
should be in TV commercials. Chou Chou and Artie slept with
us last night .He was so tired , hadn't napped all day He
slept like a Baby. Our friend renames all our dogs in his own
way and now calls Artie. Octavius. HE had a little spat with
the cat this AM ,Artie wanted to play Jazz said in big way NO.
Thanks Again for our new edition to The Family. I've been
showing off His pictures @ Work. I'll keep in touch
Sincerely
Debra
Update:7/8/2009:Thanks
Cathie I will look into the ball. Artie is doing great. Our
bed has gotten smaller. they both sleep with us and they seem
to play a lot in the AM while I get ready for Work. I hope to
start some training with Artie He does sit well We are working
on Paw and Come . I hope to also get him to Stay. He is
learning like Chou that He has to wait in the kitchen while We
eat our Dinner {usually in the living room} We never liked
dogs begging while We eat and He seems to be a good learner.
Wondered if You have and good recipes for dog treats? I'll
keep in touch. PS His appt w Vet is not till a week from Fri
but I'm hoping to get Him in sooner
Update7/21/09:
Hi Cathie, Artie did just fine @ the vets. I started the
lyme dis. shots. He goes back in Aug for his second one.
They all loved him @ the vets. They know what I went thru
with Sans Nom. He is still shy around people but that may
get better in time. We do a lot of Socializing which is good
for Him. Yesterday he was floating on a raft @ My Sister in
Law's pool and of course today I am showing off the pictures
@ work. So Artie Has a permanent home with us. We are
thrilled. Thank You again for my little treasure.
Debra
Update 3/17/10:Hi Cathie just wanted to say Hi from Artie
and Chou Chou. He is doing fine. still a little shy but
getting better all the time. He has tripled in size with
his thick coat. I've had him groomed a number of times and
have decided to do it myself. I used to groom dogs years
ago so it's just getting used to it again. We did OK. He
still looks very handsome just a little smaller. Thank You
for bringing My little lovebug to Us. He is a
JOY!!! Sometimes We call him our little tater-tot because
he looks like one. I'll try to send pictures when I get a
chance thanks again
Debra Petit E.G
update 5/10/10:Hi
Cathie, just wanted to drop a line and tell You how
wonderful our Artie is. It is not yet a year that he has
been with Us. He is still shy ,mostly around men, but he
is getting better with my husband, and he and Chou Chou
are great friends. He had a summer hair cut Saturday and
now looks like a little dog again. I love him so much ,I
call him My Love Bug. Thank You for bringing him into
my life! Good Luck to all the dogs out there who need
your help to find a loving home.
Thanks again

Shelby

Kerri,
Shelby is doing great, she has brought so much into our
life. The 4th weekend was tough for her, we have never seen
the amount of fireworks as we had this year. The next big
hurdle is 7/17 & 7/18 when the KofC fireworks display occurs
over the marsh on the street side of our house.
I got an example of her wanting to BOLT. I was walking
her at the edge of the marsh and an Egret flew up from the
grass, Shelby took off, but she was on her 25' leash so the
story had a happy ending. The vets involved with her Rabies
and Spay have sent certificates so we can get a Scituate dog
tag. It turns out that the vet that did the spay also did
the tattoo while she was knocked out.
Lee
Update 7/16/2009: Hi, Shelby is doing great. We are getting
into a daily pattern of walks and quick trips out to the
sand dune to pee. She sleeps on her blanket under our bed,
when I get up @ 6am she will hop up on the bed to take over
my pillow till Florence gets up. She gets brushed every
morning and today was bath day. As a result of the show dog
part of her life she really likes to be brushed and had the
bath with hair dryer without a word. Shelby is now a
Scituate registered dog complete with a very large tag.
I think Shelby is enjoying her life at the beach and I know
we are glad that she is here.

Cutie

Hi Cathie, Cutie is doing just
fine. I just love her. I have had tail wags and smiles, all
she wants is for me to hold her (which I just love ) We have
been for little walks on the retractable leash. At the moment
she is laying on my bed waiting for me. She has been sleeping
with me===she puts herself between the two pillows on my bed
and rests laying against my head. She stays there all night.
The potty is getting better. Only one poop in the house today.
She did a couple of wee wees and a poop on the deck (not on
the piddle pad ) but at least it was outside. So, I think that
is progress, do you? I was worried that she was not eating
enough, but I just read on the Merricks bag that a dog 3-12
lbs. should eat from 1/4 - 1 cups a day. She only seems to be
eating about 1/4 cup. Of course it has been a holiday weekend
and family have been here, my granddaughter also left today,
so all will be quieter. I think we are just a great pair. I
will call the vet tomorrow for an appointment. Christine
Update 7/11/09: Hi, Just
thought I would let you know that I took Cutie to the vet on
Friday. He says she is just fine. All he could find wrong
was her joints in the rear legs, which he said was very
common in Yorkies--nothing to worry about he said and
nothing needs to be done. I guess you know by now I am
totally in love with her. She is now walking very nicely on
her leach ( we walked about 1/2 mile today ) Potty training
is coming along. She is eating just fine too. She just loves
to be held and sleeps with me. If you have not done it yet,
cash the check. She is my love forever. You do such
wonderful work saving these dogs, they are so lucky to have
people like you. Christine Hodgson

Tooken

Steve w/Cookie & Deborah w/Tooken
Hi Kerri, Tooken is just so good, and cute, and loving, and
fun!!!! He slept all night and didn't make a peep. He walks
on leash really well. Tooken finds squirrel watching quite
amusing. What a wonderful match!!! It was so nice to meet
you and Rob too. Thank you so much!
Deborah
7/7/09: Hi, Oh thank you so much for the picture! Tooken is
coming out of his shell. He and Cookie play chase in the
backyard. Cookie seems to know that he can't run too fast or
far, so she runs tight circles around him. He's an early
riser!!! I haven't seen 5:30 a.m. since I had to catch an
early flight. But he keeps us amused. What a love bug!
thank-you.

Beacon
now Simeon

Kerri, Well, one would think Beacon lived in my home for a
year, this is his comfort level here. I love it! He is an
incredible little dog and we have become buddies and I get
LOTS of nose licks. He is so calm, happy and loving. The
ride home was fine, you were right, he does like the back
seat. He slept and seemed perfectly at ease, no problem at
all. Last night he slept with me and didn't flinch all
night. This AM I put him right out to piddle which he did
and now he is sleeping. I think I have a very special Yorkie.
How was your time in Boothbay?
Shirley
Update 7/1/09:Kerri, I have
renamed Beacon to Simeon. For my last 2 Yorkies, I went to an
old Maine cemetery and looked for names from the 17th century,
hence I found Obediah and Jeremiah. On Monday my friend Sue
and I went to an old cemetery and found the name Simeon from
the 17th century, also a biblical name (although I am not a
church religious person). He and I had a wonderful day
together. We went for a walk, visited 2 friends who loved my
little guy, drove to the special pet store and bought some
Merrick food, played in the house and cuddled. He loves the
sunroom where he can look out over the yard. The only time he
barked was when he saw a doe and fawn in the backyard. He is
an incredibly calm dog. We had a severe thunderstorm this
afternoon and he wasn't fazed at all. It feels great to have
some energy around again, I'm so grateful I found him and that
you selected me to share his life - THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I shall keep in touch and share with you Simeon's experiences.
Shirley
Update 7/5/09:Hi Kerri,
Simeon, Simi for short, loves his new home. He is just a joy
to have around, perky, full of life and curious. He eats
well, sleeps with me every night and waits until I wake in
the AM before he pounces all over me and wants to play.
Today we played together a lot, ran around and tonight he's
pooped. I had his hair trimmed a bit and he is as adorable
as ever. We have gone to several friends' homes and he is so
well behaved, they cannot believe it. We had only one
accident, that was the night we got home. Since then, no
accidents at all. He barks when he has to go out. He loves
the sunroom where he can look out over the yard and lie in
the sun. He had a fun weekend, went for many walks and met
other dogs. He didn't bark at the fireworks, but only when
he heard another dog barking. We're working on walking on
the leash and he's doing very well. He is slowly getting
used to cars going by in the street, but since my block just
goes in a circle, they is very little traffic. I love this
little guy and he looks at me with these beautiful eyes, so
full of love. I am so grateful to have him, thanks to you
Kerri. On Friday Carol is coming with Henry and we're going
to have a playdate. I have another friend who has a Yorkie
and we're going for a visit this week. Hope you had a good
4th.
Be well - Shirley

Peanut
now Skippy

Vicki w/Paige and Peanut & Jim w/Kamia
Paige, Kamia & Peanut
|
Things are going great.
Peanut is a part of the family now. At first he was having
a few accidents a day in the house but now he is not so we
are very happy about that. He fits right in with Paige and
Kamia. They chase each other around the house, it is very
cute. I attached a pic of the three of them. We are taking
him to our vets on Friday morning. He is definitely a
keeper.
Vicki
|
Update 7/10/2009:Hi
Kerri, We took Peanut to the
vets today. He checked out very well. We had him
microchipped. He is adjusting so well. We adore him
and the neighbors have fallen in love with him too.
Thank you so much for bringing him to us. We are
actually thinking we would like one more Yorkie. We
need to give Peanut a chance to settle in first but
keep us in mind for the fall or after.
Vicki |
Vicki and Jim submitted an application prior to Peanut
coming into Yorkies Inc. When we contacted them to ask if
they'd considered a 3 legged Yorkie they never
hesitated. They said "yes" sight unseen, like it wasn't
even a concern. What they got is one terrific little
guy! Peanut hasn't let a tragic accident and a loss of a
rear leg stop him one bit...he has a great personality and
a real zest for life and just wants to please. We are so
thankful for homes like Vicki and James that can look
beyond an imperfection to see the lovable pup in need.
Thank you Vicki and Jim! |

Giselle

Arnie
w/ Botti (also adopted from Yorkies Inc) & Marlene w/Giselle
Hi Kerri, Giselle had a good night. She explored the house.
She and Botti got to run around outside. Giselle followed him
around the yard and he tried to play, but she would only run
with him. We spent the evening with Botti lying on my left and
Giselle on my right. She also slept on Arnie's lap for a short
time. We all had a good nights sleep. She was very good and we
were very proud of Botti. What was the third food you brought?
Not the chicken soup or the wee bits. Botti has been off his
food lately and did eat that kibble. I would like to add it to
his diet. We will try a little more food this morning. I will
get her to the Vet this week and maybe we can get her eating on
track. It was very nice meeting you and Franklin. If you are
ever in the neighborhood feel free to visit. Thanks to both you
and Cathie for taking such good care of these special little
dogs.
Marlene, Arnie, Botti and Giselle

Update 7/31/2009:Hi Kerri, Just
wanted to give you an update on Giselle. She is doing great.
She is a great little girl. She an Botti get along great. They
eat play and sleep together. She hasn't played with any toys,
but does play with her chews. She and Botti always have to have
the same one [even though I always give each the same
kind]. They have made a game of it. She is eating and drinking
and is the first one to run when she hears the treat jar. She
was doing a lot of begging when we ate supper but that has
stopped. She and Botti enjoy playing in the yard. She is so
fast that Botti cannot catch her and she loves to hide in the
shrubs and attack him when he goes by. She acts like she is a
puppy. We are entertained by them everyday. We are so pleased
with the way things are going .They are great pals it's
beginning to be difficult to tell them apart from each other.
Attached are pictures of the two of them.
Best wishes, Marlene
Update 3/1/10:Hi Cathie, I thought
I would give you an update on Botti. The Vet put him on Purina
EN Gastroenteric and he has done very well. He has no more blood
in his stool. I have been introducing Pinnacle Duck and sweet
potato a little at a time and he is doing well with that and
have bought the duck and potato also. Both are a little lower
in protein and for sensitive stomachs. Giselle likes the
Pinnacle as well so I have been adding it in with her Wellness
and Wee Bits. This past week Giselle has been playing with toys
something she has rarely done. She and Botti have been playing
two and three times a day. I had to stop them the other day
after 45 minutes of non stop running and tumbling. She is the
stronger and more dominant of the two. I guess that is the
mother in her because she sure knows how to get the best of him.
Thanks again for your help. Before I forget I read the article
in the Yorkie Magazine and saw your name and advice you had
given. What a nice surprise to see your name in print. Is
there a book in your future? Always,
Marlene and the Kids |

Tillie

Hi Cathie, Tillie went to the
Vet this morning, everything is fine. She is also going to the
groomers tomorrow. I am getting her a new crate, she is using
Inky's, she likes to go in the crate from time to time. Now my
question ..... Is this sweet little Tillie home to stay? We
could not part with her, as my daughter would say ... she's a
keeper. Saturday was Tillie's birthday, I got her a pink dress
to wear to show off my Tillie, I never thought I would ever
put a dress on a dog, she looked so cute. Inky is fine with
her, no problems there; the advice you gave me did the
trick. My grandchildren love her. I want to thank both you
Cathie and Kerri for helping me find the perfect addition to
our family.

Teddie

Cathie, Teddie was up at 5 a.m.
and that means that everyone is up too. He does circle in the
front of our door to yard, so we take him out there to take
care of business. He took a ride to N.H. me and played in a
yard with two dogs his size, one a J Russell and the other a
puppy Golden. Teddie had fun and is easily the fastest Yorkie
on the planet. He's like a super-hero. He IS! In the car he
rides on my left thigh, looking out the window. I have given
him several "Get Acquainted" tours around our neighborhood,
and when the car moves slowly, Teddie sticks his head out the
window. NOTE: I have him on short leash, and I hold his
harness with my left hand. Like my other Yorkie, Teddie seems
to like sniffing the air as we drive around. If it keeps
raining, we'll spend most of the rest of today at home. We'll
play some with his zebra and ball. Gawd, does he get into
playing. And then he'll do some reading with me. Yesterday, my
son took several Teddie pics, but they came out too dark. A
great one which didn't develop well was one of Teddie and
Logan sharing opposite ends of a fairly small love seat. As I
write this, he is on my left thigh and hooked over my left
arm. I am trying to teach him the keyboard and how to use the
mouse. At any rate, if we had sat down and written our
descriptions of what we wanted/needed in a pet, we'd have
described Teddie to a T. AGAIN, we can't believe that he is so
perfectly house trained. And he is nice to our grandson. It
can't get any better than this.
Jack & Barbara
Update 6/25/09: At the
vet's Teddie weighed in at 5.9 lbs. His body temp was
100.7. Everything else seemed fine except for the fact
that his left hind knee cap slides back and forth from
front to inside; it's a "left hind patella luxation."
But you and I know that it doesn't bother Teddie much --
if at all. We left his stool sample there and we have
another appointment in November. Vet wanted to know if
you have any other papers with his shot records. I guess
Massachusetts has different laws re rabies shots. Vet
wanted to know if Teddie has had a THREE YEAR rabies
shot. This a.m. at the beach we kicked sand in face of a
German Shepherd, flirted with a couple of Shitzus(?),
sparred with Bubba (another Yorkie that lives across
from beach), and met Beverly's animal control officer.
Teddie's becoming a "known figure" at the beach. WAIT!!!
He did have an in-house accident yesterday. He peed in a
back bedroom, a place which is now off limits for
everyone, especially him.
Jack
Update 6/28/09: "Letter from
Teddie" Deer Cath, I apologize for not ritin soona, but I am
jest lernin 2 use this kompewter and the mouse is drivin me
krazy. Jack and Barbara have finnalee cot on that I won't eat
my brekfist or dinna unless they stay in the kichen with me.
They R a bit weird, but they like me a ton. I git more hugs
and kisses than I deserv but thats OK wit me. Car rides are
the best. Didja eva jest hang yore head outa the window and
suk in alla them aromas scents and odors? Heck, it makes me
feel like I'm wit Ace Ventra. AwlllllRIGHTYthen! I miss my
buddies but heer I doant hafta share nothin wit nobody. I'm #1
in this place. And ya know, I think I'm finally alla the way
home. Luv yew guys always, Teddie
Update 9/12/2009: Cathie,For the past twenty
minutes Teddie has been charging down the hall, sliding on
the floor, and retrieving his beloved toy zebra. He brings
it back to Barbara, and the two of them engage in a tug of
war with the thing until Teddie gets tired and releases
his hold. Barbara then tosses Zebie back down the hall and
Teddie roars (loudly) and fires off to get his toy. In
rainy weather or late at night (bad habit) Barbara and
Teddie play the same game which actually gets a bit rough.
Barbara has been reduced to throwing the toy with her left
hand; her right shoulder has become overworked and quite
sore. Tendon? Rotator cuff? At any rate, Barbara would
play that damned game if she had to throw the zebra
somehow with her mouth. The message --obvious I hope-- is
that Barbara loves Teddie beyond all hope (I love it), and
seeing them like that fills me with ...ah...whatever it
is, it is great. Barb loved our other Yorkie too, but she
confided that, for her, Abbie wasn't "lovey" enough or
"cuddly" enough and she'd never chase anything. I loved
Abbie too, but I know she wasn't a playful or cuddly.
Teddie has everyone we know wanting to "take him home." I
swear he has convinced a neighbor to get a Yorkie for
herself. There are already two others on our street. Best
thing: I've mentioned this before, but I have to repeat
it. If I put out Teddie's breakfast or dinner, he just
looks at it and leaves. If Barbara happens to be in the
kitchen, Teddie will look up at her and then begin to eat.
He will eat ONLY when Barbara is present. I wonder what
Cesar Milan would say about that. He has "adjusted" to
visits from his cousin Logan (a Lab), and he is civil most
of the time when we meet other dogs at the beach or in the
neighborhood. We love his right ear that is always bent.
And when he hops onto my stomach and turns over onto his
back, sticking his little upside-down kisser into my face,
I am helpless. What a charmer. I'll bet John taught him
that stuff. He still does 96.5% of his toileting outside.
No kidding here: we cannot believe that we were lucky
enough to get to be his family. What a dog. I know that
sounds like b.s. but it is simply the truth. We hope all
is well in Taunton. Teddie says Hi to you and his buddies
at Yorkies Inc.
Jack and Barbara
Beverly, MA
Update 10/26/09:Thanks for
watching Superfetch. Dogs are great to watch. Period.
Shay (Seamus) loved it. The whole production crew came
to his house five times last summer. The day they did
the final shoot at the hoops court, it was almost 100
degrees, so every five minutes or so, the director would
yell, "Cut! Put the dog in the truck." The truck was air
conditioned, and everyone would wait about twenty
minutes until Logan cooled off again. Is that how Lassie
got started?This a.m. around 5:30, I re-played the tv
show, and Teddy, hearing "Logan" and "Seamus" and
barking, went nuts himself. He ran all over the house
growling. Teddy is Teddy. He just can't help himself.
All he does with the baby is the "rub my belly routine."
We hope all is well at Yorkies
Inc. Barb and Jack
Update 11/27/09: Hi Cath,
As you can C, 'm gettin btter at the keyboard. Hardest
part is sitting on jack's leg as I hit the keys with
my nose. My feets R 2 wide. I just wanted to wish you
a great thanksgiving. I know I'm late, but it's the
thought that counts. Right? You can feel good just
knowing that I'm taking good care of Zebie, my Zebra.
He ate as much turkey as I did --zero. It sure smells
good, but Zebie an' me we gotsta settle for our
crunchies an' stuff. That's okay. Ever'thing else is
goooo-doubleplus2-good here. The back yard is mine,
all of it. I kin run like a dog there. And the shed,
the scary shed at the back of the yard, well I got to
look in there a couple times this week. It ain't so
scary, 'ceptin sometimes at night even though the
lights are on. Things move around in there. Then just
when you poke yer head in, there's a big knockin sound
on the roof. THAT scares me some. Ever once in a while
I spect that it's Jack or Barbara knockin on the roof
jes to scare me. But they wouldn't do nothin like
that. Anyhow. I'm doing good, and I hope you are
too. Please say Hi to alla my homeboys. Hi to you and
John, Cath. Love, Teddie
1 -- he still is only 96% good
on his POTTY events.
2 -- he BARKS at animals on tv.
3 -- he BARKS at animals at
the beach
4 -- he BARKS at birds flying
by/over the house
5 -- he GROWLS if he suspects
anything, anywhere is happening without his tacit
approval
6 -- he SPILLS his dog food
bits all over the kitchen floor
7 -- he takes all of his TOYS
out of their basket every, single day and leaves
them all over the house
8 -- he RUNS around inside of
the house as though he were outside
9 -- he gets FUSSY about his
crunchies sometimes; he wants a treat mixed in with
them
0 -- he INSISTS on tugs of war
with a little rope about six inches long (20 minute
activity)
1 -- he goes BEHIND THE SHED
in backyard and he knows he is not supposed to do
that
2 -- he THROWS himself into
our grandson's lap whenever the opportunity presents
itself
3 -- he HIDES under blankets
all over the house (we know he's in the house, but
we don't know where)
4 -- he will not COME INSIDE
from the backyard for Barbara.
5 -- he has to SIT ON OUR LAPS
at the computer -- all of the time
6 -- he makes us feel guilty
by acting "SAD" whenever we leave him alone
7 -- he makes us TALK about
him when he is not with us
8 -- he CAUSES us to get home
to him earlier than we intended for some reason or
other
9 -- he INSPECTS EVERY BAG we
bring into the house; we might get him a job at the
airport.
0 -- he INSISTS that we go to
bed at 10:30 every night; he STARES from the bed.
Barbara goes. I refuse.
1 -- he treats guests like
mattresses by FLOPPING on laps, turning over and
proudly "opening wide HIS LEGS"
2 -- he plays ROUGH
and we wouldn't trade him for
all the tea in China or all of Bill Gates' money.
true story!
as they say, "He had us at
WOOF."
We hope all is well with
Yorkies Inc. I've spoken to my son a few times about
perhaps working with you; he seems interested, but
he is very, very busy lately with the baby, school,
music(?), and vid production.

Bella

Ruben w/Bella &
Julio w/Dante (also adopted from Yorkies Inc.)
Cathie & Kerri, Dante has been
doing a wonderful job ignoring Bella. They have not
"communicated" since she got home. We will keep trying to
take them out for a walk and see what happens. Bella is such
a wonderful, playful, lovely little dog.
6/7/2009:Progress
is on its way. We had a long day. Between house projects and
having fun with the doggies we are going to bed exhausted.
Dante is finally acknowledging Bella. She is the leader,
and he goes after her. She checks around and he just
follows her. She was more comfortable in the house today.
Not one single accident (we will see when we go to work).
She finally ate properly.
6/17/2009: First of
all, I want to let you know that the check can be cashed!
We decided to keep Bella with us, we think that things are
working very well for all of us and we want her to be part
of the family. Regarding her teeth cleaning, I talked to
Ruben tonight and we would like to ask you if it
could be done either friday 26th or tuesday 30th instead.
Ruben is going to take the day off and drive her to where
is needed. It took us almost two weeks to gain her trust
and we do not want her to be scared at night and not
knowing where she is. I apologize for the problem that
this could cause if you already made the appointment. And
finally, we really want to Thank you both for all your
dedication and your patience in helping us to find our
second dog. She is just perfect.
Dante, Ruben & Julio.
6/29/09:We
are SO SO SO HAPPY with Bella. We had a wonderful
weekend, a long walk, she LOVES our backyard and she
loves to play fetch with her little noisy toy. Dante
just observes and relaxed which is OK with us. We are
enjoying her a lot. Thank you again
Julio
7/7/09:we
were exhausted after spending one day walking in New
Hampshire.....
Bella & Dante

I was looking for a particular e-mail for somebody and I
found all the e-mails from last year prior to picking up
Dante. What a wonderful journey it has been, first
little D and now wonderful B. They are doing well.
Bella is still afraid of several things and in two
opportunities she escaped through the front door.
Luckily, if one calls her in a very sweet way she comes
back. It is interesting to see that she still gets
disoriented once in a while. Besides that, she is very
good. She seems to be very well house trained. If she
cannot hold it before we go out in the morning she wakes
me up, a couple of times at 5:00 am (which I do not
mind), she will start using her paw to wake you up and
she will be very “hyper” and I know what it means. We
go out to the driveway and she goes back to bed after
business. She waits until we come back in the afternoon
and right away we have to go for the “mini” walk around
the block which usually means full business for both.
After that we take a “big” walk which could be around
Franklin Park or around the Jamaica Pond. She loves
these walks. In between the small walk and the big walk
she gets anxious and starts crying (waiting to go out
again). She is social but she does not like big dogs,
we have had a couple of encounters and I am very happy
that owners were close by, because she will charge big
dogs to move them away. Dante is as always very quiet
and patient. He had charge Bella twice, both times
because either she stepped on him or because she decided
to sleep on top of him (by mistake I think). He just
gives a bark different than usual and she gets scared
right away and tries to move away from him as far as she
can. Of course, usually means to be closer to either of
us. She is a love bug; she needs constant attention
although we have learned how to give her attention and
still have our space. I have a confession for both; I
spent one Sunday afternoon looking in the internet for a
perfect bow. It was very difficult; I did not want
anything big or cheap looking. Needless to say, she has
now a collection. I think if she wears a different one
every week, she could go half year without repeats. It
is funny, because it is something we thought we would
never do, but Bella looks much better with them. All of
them are tiny, very structured, some of them shiny, some
of them are handmade. In general, I think they are not
the traditional soft ribbon bows. She gets complimented
every single time she goes out. At the JP Pond people
always has something to say about her bows. If you have
Comcast cable, there is a wonderful show in Animal
Planet (we watch it On Demand). It is called: A Pet’s
Life. It is about training your dog. They have 4 shows
right now and they are very interesting. One of them
involves a Yorkie. It gives you so much insight on how
to make your dog behave properly. I definitively
recommend it and I think for people adopting dogs can
make a big difference. Until next update….
8/11/09:Something changed in Bella in the past two
weeks. First of all, we had a couple of outdoor parties
we had to go. Bella has been more of a “let me go to
bed” and be alert and see what happens rather than being
with the group. Basically, she was “forced” to be part
of the group in two occasions and it seems something
click on her. Since Saturday her attitude has changed
and it seems that now she likes to be in the middle of
the action. We are extremely pleased and surprised
since she did not attempt to do this before. I think
the picture sent to you from JP speaks a lot. She
decided to take her nap on top of me, a couple of weeks
ago she would have been afraid and stressed without
knowing what to do. Now, it seems she enjoys being close
and protected. And second, she never liked to be carried
before, but we took her last week to Home Depot and we
know she does not like new situations, but what she did
after a couple of aisles was to start jumping on my
knees so I could pick her up, and I did. It was the
first time she seems to be happy to be carried and
enjoyed being taken care of.
Last night we had some people over for dinner and she
was in the middle all night. We are very happy that she
is becoming more social. What a beautiful dog she is.
It took her two months to be more comfortable with her
new living situation

the set of the new movie being filmed in
Franklin Park...... The movie is called the Zoo
Keeper....we had a wonderful walk today! Bella

Nancy with
JoeJoe now Gaelen
Hi Kerri, Here's a pic I took of him last night after you
left - I had brushed him with a soft bristle brush which
he loved. He feel asleep in my arms He then went for
short walk and slept through the night snuggled in between
us - he seemed perfectly content. But, he would not
eat much or drink - which was a concern - but it may take
a little while for him to regain his appetite as I know
he's been through a lot these past weeks. He has a vet
appt this afternoon with Grace and I will ask her what she
recommends for his diet. I took him out first thing this
morning for about 10 minutes - but he didn't pee until he
came back inside. lol! So Mary then took him for a long
walk over the park and he peed but no poop. He went to the
groomer's this morning as she had an opening when I
called. He's having a big first day so then can rest and
play to his heart's content. He loved seeing the dogs at
the groomer/day care as we walked through and loved the
groomer. Now he is happy to be home with a new treat and
a new toy and bed. Here's a pic after his grooming. I
think he feels very proud as he walks so confidently and
is lounging beside me on the couch as he naps and
stretchhhhhhes. I can't wait for his hair to grow back
in. It's like having a baby boy's first hair cut! I
almost cried when I saw him. He's such a good and
gentle boy and we're so happy to be able to give him a
good home. P.S. We are thinking of changing his name to
Galen (which means "calm healer" in Gaelic). He
certainly has a calm and healing effect on us -
particularly in our grief after having lost or boy Bambo
who graced our lives with his cuddles and affection for
over 20 years until we lost him in March. We will take
good care of our new boy and love him everyday.Nancy
6/17/09 Hi, We love Gaelen more every day.
He makes us laugh at least a dozen times a day. He is
the light of our life. Please let your Mom know what a
good job you did finding him a loving home. Sometimes,
when I am cooking, he comes out and lays on the floor on
his belly and just watches. I wondered if it was
something he used to do with someone else - perhaps your
Mom? :) Everyone in the condo building has fallen in
love with him - they watch and laugh as he romps around
the back yard each morning and evening with his toys and
runs between Mary and me. One woman may be contacting
you down the road about a placement (either a Maltese or
a Yorkie) but I'm not sure if she's ready just yet. We
are going to Maine this weekend and should be back on
Monday or Tuesday. Give me a call anytime and we'll
arrange a time to get together! P.S. He gained 4 ounces
(as of his follow-up appointment a few days ago) despite
his long walks, running and playing. He looks and feels
great. His testicle issue seems all but resolved after
a short stint on the antibiotics. woke up
yesterday and he was scooted up against Mary's back as
they both lay sleeping and he had his two front feet
resting on her shoulders as though he were hugging her.
I tried to take a pic with my cell phone without
disturbing the scene but it came out dark. A nice
moment in any event - one of many we have every day. TTYL

Snow now
Chloe

Hi Cathie, I
think Snow (not sure if we are keeping that name, she might
become Chloe) is exhausted tonight. She has her blanket and
toys and has move over to one of the leather chairs in the
living room and is sound asleep. I went out to get some supplies
earlier...came back with a crate which she immediately "bounded"
into. She ate her dinner, but was a bit shy about it because I
was cooking dinner at the same time. She had a little accident
in the family room, no big deal. She hasn't use the pee pad,
which is at the door going out to the deck. I'm going to crate
her tonight and let her out first thing tomorrow morning and
hopefully she'll begin to get the hang of it. What a little
lady! She is so, so good on her walks! And the energy...she
just keeps moving....She's met Maisie, the pug across the street
and we plan on going on some walks together. Maisie is used to
being the only dog, though she and Cobi used to play together.
All in all a good day! Thank you so much. More later,
Lynda, Dave, Tim and Jon
Update 6/9/09:Hi
Kerri and Cathie, Chloe is loved by all and certainly does not
lack for tummy rubs! Both Dave and Tim left with promises of
visiting soon and Jon, well, he tends to take his time warming
up to changes...he's the one at Christmas who has to wait to
open a present and then contemplate his gift (drives us
crazy!). Well, I've "caught" him several times looking
disappointed when I come home because Chloe runs to greet me.
Yes, she does have a snuggle place next to him also. We have
been working on a routine...as you said she is a smart little
one! She has been sleeping in her crate at night in my room.
Last night, I tried just putting the crate on the floor with her
blanket outside, closing the bedroom doors and leaving her crate
door open. What a good girl! We are working on the potty
training...yesterday, it was the battle of wills, I had her
outside about every two or three hours. She can hold her pee
"forever"! I have a pee pad out, but she didn't use it at all
yesterday. And when she does goes, she doesn't go very
much...just getting used to her
Lynda
Update 7/29/09: Hi Cathie, Chloe
is doing just fine. She seems to have made herself quite
comfortable in her new home and definitely considers herself the
princess that she is. Right now, she is sleeping peacefully in
her crate and will want to be carried up to her bed when I go
upstairs. As I said, she's a princess. Both boys will be home
this weekend, the first time since Chloe joined our family...she
will be spoiled. Chloe loves to go to Grandma's down at the
beach in RI, though she hasn't been to the actual beach itself.
She just knows that I will be home all day for long walks and
snuggling. I was surprised over the 4th of July that she didn't
get frantic with all the fireworks going off around us, just
raised her head and went back to sleep. She loves her walks and
does well peeing outside first thing in the a.m. and evenings.
She uses her pee pad during the day or if I'm out (very
convenient). Still doesn't have the pooping thing down, doesn't
like going outside and can't quite find the pee pad. Any
suggestions? Also, any secrets about tear/saliva staining? Thank
you so much for sending Chloe into my life. I just love her!
Lynda
Update 8/4/09:Thanks for the
info. I'm feeding her twice a day. She went outside yesterday
a.m., but even though we were out twice last night before bed,
she waited until the lights were out to come back downstairs.
Funny little habits...I do notice that when she goes outside,
she starts in one place and then moves...Hey, it will work
sooner or later, I have no doubt. Let me know about the Eye
Envy. I'll be more diligent about washing her face every
day. Hey, I tried the Wellness treats last time I was buying.
It's worth every penny! Chloe has a little routine of playing
with the treat, tossing it about, pouncing on it and generally
enjoying the prelude to munching. (She doesn't get more than
one a day!) So I bought the kibbles yesterday. What a
scene...she loves, loves, loves it!
It seems like she's been with us forever...and that's a great
things. Have a good day.

Oliver

Lisa w/Sparkle
& Richard w/Oliver
Hi Kerri, Oliver is doing
great!!! He is a happy addition to the family. I call him my
little love...he is happy sitting in my lap and enjoys play
time as well. He has no fear and enjoys everyone he meets.
Oliver likes to play with Sparkle, he also loves to chase
her around and has even been seen chasing Tabatha .He is
even getting better on his walks...no longer sitting or
waiting to be carried around the block. Enjoys the car rides
and loves to sit on Richard's lap at night when we watch TV.
Oliver is also a great dancer...loves to walk on his back
legs as the music plays we dance together...
We are working on trying to
get him to use the pee pads when we can't go out and we are
getting better...thank God for the Steam clean machine.
Richard and I are so very happy with Oliver and want to
Thank you again for allowing us the pleasure and joy that
Oliver has brought into our home. You have a great day and
talk to you soon!!!!!
THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lisa Hill
Update 6/19/2009:
Hi Kerri, Oliver is adjusting quite well...He thinks he is the
man of the house...very much in control and knows it. He is so
cute, and is really giving Sparkle a run for her money, when
he wants to play he bites her tail and ears, he seems to be
playing more with the toys now especially when he sees Sparkle
playing. He is eating well, likes to eat first thing in the
morning and after 7:00 at night. Trying to get him to piddle
and poop on the pads and some days are
better than others but he is getting there. I think he is
happy and knows that this is his home and he is loved.
Hopefully we will have a summer and I am sure Oliver would
love to see you again. By the way he does try to eat the hair
in the back of my head sometimes also. At least I have
something to blame my bad hair days on. How are all your
little babies doing and how is Cassie....I hope better. Take
care.

Kiley

Thank You Thank You Kiley has been wonderful
today We are very happy that we found Yorkiesinc!!!! Kiley is
settling in very nicely and her and Anita had a nice snuggle
together (most of the afternoon). It was so funny I ran out and
got some supplies for kiley and when I got back Kiley was asleep
on Anita’s Lap and when I sat the box I was carrying down the
noise woke her and she started barking at me, it was so
cute!!!!! We are so excited to have such a loving snuggling
friend!!! She really enjoys just sitting on Anita Lap although
she hears every little noise and has to look around and figure
out what it is!!! Thank You for such a joy, and we look forward
to seeing you in May! Thanks for the Link and I already ordered
a few things from the Rescuepetstore.com
Jim & Anita
4/7/09: Dear Momma C: Good morning from your
Kiley K! Well I miss you all terribly but I am getting along
great. Momma A put me to bed and I was a bit confused as I did
not smell all my friends and they held me all day I thought I
might get to sleep in the big bed. I let them know by whining a
bit but heard them talking that it was best for me to be in my
pen with my donut and snuggle and no matter how much they
wanted, they would ignore my noises. After about 30 min when I
saw they meant it, I settled right down and slept all night.
Momma A got me up and out of my pen at 6:30 or so and she was so
happy to see what a good girl I was doing my piddle and poo on
the pee pads. She gave me big snuggles and some cheerios and I
loved it. Then we went outside to do our Business and we only
stayed out for a few min as Momma A said it was too cold and
windy for me. Poppa J then got me into my blue jacket and took
me outside into the grass on a proper walk. He was so happy
when I did my piddles in the grass he also gave me a big scooch
and cheerios! I think I have them figured out and they are so
easy to make happy! I will keep doing my business outside or on
the pad, got it! Last night, just after my dinner, I saw this
Huge Pee Pad on the floor. It did look like our cozy blanket
from the afternoon, but it was on the floor where my pee pads
go…. So….. no buddy gave me scooches or cheerio’s after I did
that piddle they just took the Huge Pee Pad to the laundry…..
Hummm….. oh well. Anyway, when Pappa J brought me in from my
walk he told Momma A that I was a bit chilly out here at the
shore so we would keep me in my pretty blue jacket. Also, they
figured out that I could not get at my harness to do my tricky
escape routine if I was wearing my jacket so they left it on. I
do like it as it keeps me warm. So then Pappa J gave me my
breakfast and I ate it all up! Momma A combed my hair and gave
me one of my pretty hair clips and then Pappa J and I snuggled
up in the big bed for a morning nap! See I am a 6am girl and he
is a 8 am boy so we are working toward the middle to both become
7 o’clockers…. It was a yummy nap as you can see, but now it is
time for us all to go to work. I will make sure there are more
pictures of my big day and write to you again later. Momma C,
Pappa John, thank you for taking such good care of me. I miss
you and love you all, but I know Momma A and Pappa J need me
here….. they are kinda googoo gaga over me … Love Kiley K
Hi Cathie, She did very well overnight She whined
for a few minutes then settled right in for the night and is
comfortable enough at the office that we have heard her little
bark twice today when loud people are walking down the Hallway
and she is asleep, it’s so funny;) We just got back from the
Vets, They all loved her and gave 2 thumbs up on her. We are so
in Love with her and so happy that she is with us. Thanks you so
MUCH
JIM

5/22/09: Hi Cathie, Just a quick
Thank You, Kiley has been just what we needed, so is such a
lovveeee. Attached are a few pictures Thanks Again JIM
She is my
love dove and a fun puppy to play with. She goes with me
everywhere…. She is so good and content to just be together that
people just let her come with me …. She is sooooo smart and such
a blessing. Sometimes just looking at her beauty brings me to
tears which she promptly licks away…. You have no idea what joy
and peace you have brought to me with this precious gift and I
thank you (and God) everyday…

8/9/2009: Hi Cathie Just a quick
note to tell you how much we are enjoying Kiley, Anita has been
smiling every time she looks at her and so many people stop us
on the streets asking about her and commenting on her beauty. So
just a THANK YOU, you have made our days with this little girl
;-) Hugs
Jim & Anita
9/19/09:….. hi and a hug
to Poppa J also! Momma A and I talk about you both all the time
and so we thought we would send a big HUG and HELLLLLOOO!!!! I
am doing great! I am very comfy now in my environment and
actually feel comfy anywhere my Momma A and Poppa Jim are as I
am always in lots of different places as I go everywhere. We
are a tight-trio! Also I really love being at work all day….
Momma A has me sit in with her now when she meets with her
clients. If the person is upset Momma A lets them hold me and
they feel better right away. I love meeting new people even as
we go for our walks. People stop and ask if I am friendly as I
go right up to everyone with a sniff and a wagging tail! It is
so funny Momma C as all these big people always show their teeth
when they see me or talk to me …. We know that means
“aggressive” in puppy land but Momma A taught me that with these
big people showing teeth means they are “smiling and happy”….!
Anyway Momma A wanted me to tell you a few things. I don’t
understand them all but I know it must be good because she shows
her teeth to me all the time, especially when she asked me to
tell you these things: “we are truly blessed…. I have no doubt I
am in the presence of a little bit of heaven when I look at my
Kiley every day… she has healed bits of my heart and soul I
thought were gone forever just by being “Kiley”…. Her beauty is
truly stunning …. Her coloring is amazing…. Her bone structure….
Her coat…. Her amazing amazing face and eyes ….. as awesome as
her physical beauty is it does not begin to compare to the
little soul so graceful, playful, innocent and giving…. We are
truly humbled to be given such a gift as our Kiley, but also by
the “process” by which she came to be ours to keep, care for,
love and cherish…. So many good hearts and hands doing the right
thing for the right reason and I can never ever express how
grateful we are for this light in our lives…… “Uh…. Well… ok,
guess I should go now Momma C, Momma A has that salty water on
her face again and I need to kiss it away and cuddle with her….
So “bye bye” for now!
Kiley K

Bandit

Hey
Kerri, Sorry it took me so long to write, I have been a little
busy. Bandit is doing very well. He is peeing on a pee pad
most of the time. We take him out every couple of hours
though. His stitches look great. I am going to get him into
the vets either Tuesday or Wednesday. He and Smokey are doing
okay. There is a little jealousy believe it or not on
Bandit's side. He does not like when I am paying attention to
Smokey. He is not that crazy about men either, but he is
getting better day by day. He is unbelievable at jumping. He
jumped into my lap when I was sitting at the island in our
kitchen. He has rubber in his legs, too funny! But other than
that all is well and going as expected. I will send pictures
soon. I am leaving his belly pad off a lot when I am around
during the day and keeping them in the kitchen/dinning room
area where the pee pads are and he has not done any damage
yet. I feel so bad he spends so much time trying to scratch
his back and get the thing off that I am trying to give him a
break, but the belly pad is a great, great idea---love them.
Well need to get in the shower and fold some laundry. I will
write again.....thanks again, we love him. Sue
p.s. Thanks for the heads-up on May 3rd, I marked it in my
calendar.
Update 3/18/09:Kerri,
Just thought you would like to know, Bandit's stitches
came out yesterday and he got a clean bill of health. He
is so funny. He is doing great. He makes us laugh, what
a character!!! Take care and thanks again, Sue

Dear Ms Cathie and Ms Kerri, I
asked my new Mom and Dad to send you a note and picture for me.
I am in my new home and just loving it. My new big brother
Travis has been just wonderful to me. Mom made me a nice soft
bed to sleep in but Travis wants me to sleep with him at night
and it's great. I can run all over the house and out side and i
get to jump up on the chairs where there is a soft cushion and
take a nap if I want to. Thank you very much for all your help
finding me a good Mom and Dad to take care of me.

Destiny

Yeeee Haaa! IT'S OFFICIAL !!!
THANK YOU FOR MY NEW HOME !!!!! MY NEW MOM, DAD & (well of
course ME) WENT TO 'ESPICALLY FOR PETS' WHERE I WAS ADORED &
MET A BUNCH OF DOGS. I GOT ANOTHER COAT, (3RD) AND SOME TOYS,
SHAMPOO. I GOT A DUCK THAT QUACKS WHEN SQUEEZED & AN
ANNOYING BALL THAT THEY PUT A TREAT IN BUT I CAN'T GET TO IT!
SPENT THE DAY IN THE YARD WATCHING THEM RAKE WHILE I SAT IN
THE LAP OF LUXURY IN MY NEW SWEATER, WRAPPED IN MY NEW BLANKET
WHILE SITTING IN MY BED ON A CHAIR IN THE GARDEN HOUSE
LISTENING TO THE BIRDS AND CHIMES.
THANK YOU FOSTER MOM
CATHIE.... FOR MY NEW HOME !!!!!! I'LL NEVER FORGET YOU XOXO
LOVE DESTINY XOXOXO !!!!!
P.S. I GOT THEM WRAPPED AROUND
MY PAW...THEIR BED IS MINE !!!!
PSS: Thanks Cathie....Joan &
Mark
Update 3/19/09: She's
excellent. She loves romping
around the back yard. She sniffs around the parameters &
digs a little with her paw. During the good weather this
week she does her thing & has found her place she likes to
lay down outside & nap. She was startled in the beginning
of noises, like the chimes, doors, birds, things the wind
does...but she's over it. Now she sits on the grass,
listens to the birds while her nose twitches listening with
her eyes 1/2 closed completely relaxed. She now has
her designated place between Mark & I in bed. 11:00 PM is
her last time to go out. I watch Leno, Jimmy Fallon, (Wheww
he's having a bad beginning)& that's her time for a last sip
of water in bed. Mark takes her out at 7:00 am & then I
take her out at 8:30 in which she does her business, then
sits & stares at us on the deck. Once inside she takes off
like a shot into the house.
She is nowhere as shaky as
she was in the beginning & just loves being out in the back
yard or snuggling with us in a chair or bed. During the day
if I go out I come back home to find her waiting in the
bed. She is out fancy little princess.
Joan
Update 5/24/09:Hi
Cathie,
Destiny is doing great !!! She's the official "Little
Lady of the House." She found herself a cozy little
spot under one o the bushes in the back yard. Mark
carved out a little cave for her under the bush & it's
her place, she loves it & goes right to it after she's
checked out her yard. It's so cute to see her peaking
out at us. She thinks we can't see her. She's been
constantly confused seeing herself in the mirror in one
of our curio cabinets. She'll stare at herself for 20
minutes. The 1st week she officially took her place on
one side of the bed & we gave in...didn't have any say.
She loves just sitting on our lap, walking around the
yard & being a snuggle bunny. One real odd thing... I
asked my friends not to come over with their pets for a
while because I thought it might upset her. Last week
my friend Patty showed up with her 6 month old
Pomeranian, Sweety. Sweety was in the kitchen & Destiny
was on the back deck & spotted her. Sweety barked and
Destiny barked right back....TWICE !!! Surprisingly she
was completely content having Sweety over. At one point
Destiny got tired of her and fell asleep. She even is
playful & likes to
play peek a boo outside. She likes to be chased out
of her bush, her private place, when we see her yell
peek a boo....then she runs to another spot where she
thinks we don't see her...we peek around to that spot
& yell peek a boo then she runs back to the other
spot....She'll do this all day. Her tail is tucked so
far under but comes out to wag when she plays. She'll
come to the back door and stand there until we jump
out at her...she runs to her bush and within seconds
she's back at the door. She loves being chased. She
doesn't shake at all anymore & knows this is her home.

Ness

Karen w/Ness &
Cindy w/Buffy
Ness is doing great. He is a little charmer. We
are spoiling him by bringing him everywhere, but he gets to
barking constantly when we he thinks we are leaving the car
without him to go into a store. Other than that (and we
know we have to work on that) he is just a bundle of jumping,
kissing, happy boy. And we are happy gals! Buffy
is still quite befuddled by it all - she still prefers to stay
in her bed in the back room than be out with the folks, while
Ness is content as long as he can lay on something fluffy
nearby. He slept in the bed last night - hardly moved a
muscle. I even put Buffy in the bed later in the night
and we all slept fine - no fussing, no fighting. Will
send some more
photos when I can. Ness is using the doggie door without
any trouble - he even got Buffy to come back thru the slider
(which she never did before). We'll keep you posted.
Thanks again for sending this little guy to us. Hope you
don't miss him too much. Remember, you can always bring
the gang over for back yard races. Take care, Kerri -
we'll email again soon.
3/6/09:Hi Kerri, You couldn't tear him away from us!!
Ness is doing very well - and Buffy sometimes follows him
around and kind of stands next to him. We have been a bit
crazy here this week - I think I told you that Karen's husband
was taken to the ER last Sunday - well, he was transferred
from South Shore Hospital to Brigham & Women's and just
underwent open heart surgery today. He is still in the
operating room - they had to take him back in due to bleeding,
but we are hoping all will go well. So Ness and Buffy have
been on their own a lot more than we would like this week.
They seem to be getting along just fine. They seem to have
worked out their issues - he leaves her alone (except for the
morning "sniff"); and although she still spends most of the
time in her bed, he seems to respect her space. Got a bit of
the frantic bark when he heard the car, but there were no
accidents and he didn't seem too upset for the length of time
we were gone. So all seems well and we will try to be more
attentive to him as time and medical crisis's allow. Ness is
just a bundle of love & kisses & cute; Buffy is still her
sweet self. Ness has adopted Karen, so I can tell that he
misses her when she is not here, but he does just fine with
me. So, all is a go, and you can list him as a great
success! You have 2 happy pups & 2 happy old & gray ladies
here. Thanks so
much for letting us bring Ness into our lives. Best wishes on
future success of the Yorkie Rescue. We will keep in touch.
Take care,
Cindy

Mandy & Francie

Joan
w/Mandy, Chad son in law, daughter Joanna w/Francie
Hi Cathie, Thank you so much for the pictures.
“The girls” as we call them are doing fantastically. It is if
they have been here forever. We are on a schedule with potty,
and they are really doing very well. When they are not in there
“play pen” we have the little panties, and only once was it
used, other that that they have used the outside, plus one
“poopie” indoors where Willie use to go on a puppy pad toward
the end—logical place. They are so wonderful. John and I sit
with them on our laps at night. John massages their ears like he
use to do with Willie and they practically go to sleep. They are
the most wonderful little girls, I can’t understand how anyone
could give them up. It is like they have always been here.
Joanna and I took them out one time, next to the barn and Mandy
saw Annie way our in the pasture. She started to bark, and Annie
came in the barn-there is a gate, so don’t worry-and looked at
Mandy with this quizzical look. Mandy kept right on barking,
like she was as big as Annie. It is so funny. We really enjoyed
our visit with you, too. Chad was saying that it is so nice to
talk to someone who feels the same as we do about our animals.
Thank you so much for the pictures. I have asked a co-worker who
has a colored printer to print them off. I go to Kiwanis on
Wednesdays and was telling some of my co-members about getting
the girls, and they wanted to see pictures, so will take them.
Thanks so much for these angels. I think Willie had a little
something to do with us getting together. Will keep with the
updates.
Joan, Mandy, Francie & family
UPDATE:2/10/09:Hi,
Cathie, My name is Jen Ouellette. I am Joan Sylvester’s older
daughter. I just wanted to take a minute and let you know how
grateful I am that you approved my mom and dad for the
adoption of those two sweet girls. My parents are wonderful,
caring people. When I was younger, my sister had a love for
horses and my parents ensured we both had horses growing up.
It probably almost bankrupted them as my dad was also
struggling to start his own business. They felt it was
important, though, when you loved something so much to be able
to love it. That started my sister’s lifetime affair with
horses. I cant even imagine her without them they are so much
a part of her life now. As a sibling, of course, I had to
often verbalize how unfair it was that my sister got to have
her true love, a horse, and I didn’t get to have mine-a dog.
My dad in particular resisted me having a dog for many years
until one day when I asked him “dad, can I have a dog?” and
he replied “well, maybe.” It just so happened my dad had
visited friends who had Yorkies and raised them. They had a
pregnant female at that time. My dad brought me to see the
mom, Lily, a couple of times while pregnant, and then on the
day she gave birth to my puppy, Lily’s Lovely Lady, who
affectionately became “Buddy.” I was about 17 then. Buddy
lived a good long life and was sadly missed once she died. To
put it into some perspective, when I left home at 18 for
college, Buddy of course stayed with my parents. I would come
home on weekends to visit them and her. After college, I got
an apartment with my boyfriend, who became my husband. As I
was moving out to live with Ray, my dad came to me and said
“when you move out, you are not taking the dog (Buddy) with
you. If you take her, don’t ever come back here. He was
kidding a little bit, but not much. Buddy was their dog from
that point on. After her death, my mom found Willie. I think
he was a wonderful little guy, too. Very special and my
parents loved him to death. They would occasionally got to a
conference overnight and would sneak Willie into the motel so
he wouldn’t be at home all day alone, even though my sister
lived right there and could drop in and see him on and off.
That’s the kind of people they are. When Willie died on
Thanksgiving, we were all at my parent’s house. We live
locally near them, and have a small family. I have two
children, my sister has none. So really, there are just 8 of
us in total. I am sure you already heard that Willie died of
kidney failure and that the vet had expected him to die months
before he did. I know he hung around for my parents because
he was their child to them. My mom had hoped he would go on
Thanksgiving because she was thankful for being able to be a
part of his life and she thought it was fitting. You have made
the right choice for Mandy and Francie. It is like they have
lived with my parents all along. I stopped by with my
daughter on Saturday evening for a few minutes. Francie was
curled up on my Dad’s lap sleeping and Mandy was on my mom’s
lap barking. They looked completely at ease and just seemed
to fit in so well. I think as more time goes by, they will
feel increasingly content and happy in their new forever
home. Mom was saying to Mandy while she was barking and
shivering a little “don’t worry, Mandy, no one is going to
hurt you here and no one is taking you any place, its all
right” and I swear, it settled Mandy right down. Francie
barely moved from my Dad’s seat, she did lift her head up and
gave a quizzical look, but seemed awfully content by the stove
in his lap. I wanted to thank you and Yorkies Inc for what you
have done for my parents. They love Francie and Mandy and
will give them a great home.
Jen
Ouellette
2/16/09:
Hi Cathie, All is going very well on the home
front. We are in a sort of routine. The girls seem very, very
happy and I know we are. Every night Francie cuddles with John
in his chair and Mandy cuddles with me. During the day on the
weekend, they stayed around with me while I did chores,
picking them up quite frequently for a hug. Joanna came over
and asked if she could take them to the transfer sight-for a
ride only, not to get out- and they went happily off to the
dump. Joanna has a console where they sit and they are
attached to the seat belt, so they can see out. It is so cute
to see these pointy little ears through the windshield of the
dump truck. It is wonderful they love to ride. Today, they
will go with her on a couple of wood deliveries. I figure they
say, “Life is good when you have and Auntie who has a dump
truck.” Ha. Thursday, they go to the vets. I talked with
Carlene last night. We are planning to attend your gathering;
she said she would go with us. I’ll e-mail in a couple of
days. My best. Joan
2/20/09:Hi
Cathie, The vet visit was very successful yesterday. The
little girls were a little nervous, but curious, too. We are
now going to the Ridge Animal hospital, a new vet, that
specializes in small companion animals. My daughters take
their little ones there, too. I was very impressed. Sylvie,
the vet, sat right beside me in the bench where I was
holding the little ones, and cuddled and cooed with them.
She kissed them and played little finger games touching
their noses, etc. Everything checked out just fine. I am
going to make an appointment with the groomer next and get
them all dolled up. Joanna and a friend of hers took the
girls out on the ridge behind our house. She said they had a
fabulous time. Mandy found a white pine branch laying on the
path, and just thought it had the most interesting smells
she had ever experienced. She didn’t want to leave it.
Probably had some great animal smell on it. I took their
pictures you sent via e-mail to Kiwanis Wed, as I had been
talking about them. We happened to be mostly women at the
table so all were ohh and ahh looking at them. Then we
talked about our pets. Most had dogs and two actually had
Yorkies, so showed their pictures. What fun! Anyway, it’s
official now, please cash the check. As I said before, Mandy
and Francie are here to stay. John said to me the other
night as we were sitting in our respective chairs, me with
Mandy and him with Francie, “You know, Blondie-his pet name
for me- you made a good move getting these little girls,
every time I look at them they make me smile, they’re
great.” I will send the contract back to you, Cathy. I will
definitely stay in touch on a regular basis, as Mandy and
Francie want their Taunton family to keep up on the Alfred
happenings. It’s a wonderful thing you do for all the little
ones, Cathy. You have helped fill the deep hole left when
Willie died. I can feel Willie being happy now that we
aren’t so sad; he was really a wonderful little boy who
watched right out for the both of us, first one lap then the
other, so neither would feel left out. Love to all the
little ones in the wonderful sun room. Joan
Update
5/15/09: Hi Cathie and Yorkies Inc. family, We had such a
wonderful time visiting with everyone during the Yorkie
reunion. Can’t wait for next year. Mandy and Francie are
so awesome!! We are so grateful to have them. They are
still part of the “Garden Keepers” team. They took a road
trip with Auntie Joanna and friend Becky to pick up
flowers. They had a picnic and lots of good fresh air.
The St Francis arrived in the mail, and looks wonderful
under the pea shrub which is pruned up like a small tree.
Thanks again for everything. Have attached a picture of
Mandy and one of Francie that Carlene took on the way back
from the reunion. Mandy and Francie have a very short “do”
Joanna thinks Francie looks like a little fruit bat with
her big ears. They are so precious. Thanks and warm
regards to everyone.
Joan Sylvester. Mandy, and Francie
Update
11/24/2009: Hi Cathie and all the Yorkie Inc. family.
Just to let you know our little girls, Francie and
Mandy, are doing great. We have so much fun with them.
This summer Joanna and I took them to the beach early
in the morning before work. Goose Rocks Beach is just
great. Not that many people. Francie learned to run with
Joanna. Joanna started out and Francie seemed reluctant,
but gradually gained speed as Joanna did. Joanna said
all of a sudden she just "kicked in" as if she was
saying WoW look at me and what I can do. Joanna said
Francie kept looking up at her as if saying, "Auntie,
look what we are doing." Her front legs were straight
out in front and her back legs were straight out in
back. Joanna said she had such a look of joy on her
little face. Mandy and Nana (me) both trot at the same
speed--middle aged lady, so we were right for each
other, but way, way behind Francie and Joanna. Mandy
likes to exercise about as much as I do; we prefer to
amble along the beach or cuddle in a nice chair. We,
also, took the horses a few times with the little girls.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and the Yorkie family. Before
you know it, it will be the Yorkie gathering in May
again. Sincerely, Joan Sylvester and the two legged
and four legged family.

Mugsy

We went to Pet-Co-where the happy dogs go. He loved
going for a car ride. Mugs follows Coco leads. Run
fast, slow walk, chase the ball- but he let's Coco get
it. They are both sleeping right now, together. Mugs
has gone to pee 2 times by the back door in the tv
room. So I put a pee pad there. He's a pup that
learns fast. He figured out the back door. And he is
really enjoying the snow.
Janet
Update 1/13/09: Mugs is doing great.
He started to pee by the back door in the tv room,
soo I put a pee pad down there--IT WORKS!!! How is
your mom? I she is doing better. Oh, I looked up
Emerson on Yorkies,Inc and he is a doll. I wish I
could take him. So Emerson has a little quirk- like
biting your fingernails or twirling your hair.
We'll see- I'll work on Joe. How much would his
adoption be? Mugs is going to the vet's today to
have his stitches out. Mugs is Coco's shadow.
Janet
Update: 1/15/09:Hi Kerri, Mugsy is great.
We all love him, how can you help it. Mugsy is
sleeping with Coco under my desk! He has mostly
been peeing and pooping outside. I bought him
several coats at Ocean State Job Lot. How all your
babies are fine and say hello to your Mom.
Janet
Update:1/19/09: Hi Kerri, Mugsy is sooo
funny, he chases a laser pointer from one end of
the kitchen floor to the front doorway! Mugsy
really loves the snow, he chases Coco and Coco
chases him. I'll have the family write up a
"happy tail" which shouldn't be too hard. He
adjusted so fast which is unbelievable because
of his age. He wants to go where ever you go.
Mark enjoys playing with him. Remember, he
wanted a german shepherd! LOL Say hi to your
mom for me. Hope to see you soon.
Janet
1/30/09 Hi Kerri and Carol, We are so
happy with the little guy. What joy!!! I
never thought he could bring this much joy!
It's like having a new baby in the house. I
will get a happy tail to you this week end, I
forgot-I'm sooooo happy. He loves me brushing
him, he usually falls asleep. I gave him 2
baths already. His coat is shiny and smooth.
My husband thinks of him at work!!!??? What's
he thinking! Say hi to Mom and your babies
for me. Janet

Delilah

Jennifer w/ Delilah & Michael w/Wilbur
Delilah's closeup!
Hi
Kerri, I was just going to email you. They are hilarious.
Poor girl tried to take a nap today and Wilbur took it
personally. It was hilarious. He has NOT given her a moments
peace. She ran up my lag not to long ago trying to get in
good 'pouncing' position. I left them along for maybe 1
minute while I took the trash out.... when I came back in she
was yelping up a storm... turns out Wilby chased her up the
stairs onto the bed and she wasn't sure how to get down to
pursue him. Wilbur is teaching her how to rip the socks off
my feet and she is teaching him that naps are good. (I just
turned to look at them and she made it up the stairs to the
bed again). They are hilarious. Wilbur is obviously bigger
but she always pins him - it's sooo funny! Nicole wants to
change her name to Winnie! Winnie and Wilbur. I like Delilah
so we will see... she is soo darn cute! She is a keeper. We
absolutely love her. She is hilarious and she and Wilby are
perfect together. Thank you sooooo much!
Jennifer
Note: Delilah was one of a pair of puppies surrendered to us
by their owner who bought them as a Christmas present for her
sons. She only had them for a couple weeks before she realized
a pair of Yorkie puppies is a lot of work! We were able to
find two experienced Yorkie homes for each pup. Both Delilah
and her brother Sampson below got a new big brother and loving
family too! They never made it to be posted on our site they
were placed with applicants already on file. |

Teddie

We
couldn't think of sending him away now... he's a part of the
family. Thanks for allowing us to adopt him.
Bev & Ed Raney

Update 3/22/09:Hi
Cathie, I'm writing on behalf of Teddie and my parents. We
just wanted to give you an update on Teddie and to let you
know how much he has become a member of the family in
just three short months. He loves everyone, but has chosen
my father as his favorite human. Teddie follows my Dad
where ever he goes - so closely in fact that if Dad stops
suddenly, Teddie bumps right into him. Teddie loves to be
held and cuddled and we happily oblige. There was a
little friction between him and my 3-year-old nephew at
first, neither willing to give up their position as being
the center of attention, but lately they seemed to
have come to an agreement to be civil to each other. Teddie
is the first one to greet the family as we come to visit
and insists on jumping on our laps the moment we sit
down. He's become the center of this family and has wound
everyone around his little paw. He is now lord and master
of the household. (but don't tell my Dad, because I think
he thinks HE still is) When he first came home, we were
told that he didn't know how to play because he never had
a chance to before. I'm happy to tell you that he is a
very fast learner! Within the first full day, he had
already learned how to fetch and play tug-of-war. I've
included a picture of Teddie with his favorite toy, which
we call Squeaky. Actually he's learned to play so well
that this toy pictured is Squeaky the third; Squeaky's one
and two had to be retired. (By the way, you'll notice
from the picture how comfortable he's made himself on my
parents bed.) Thank you again for bringing my family and
Teddie together! We couldn't be happier!
Lynne Raney & the rest of the Raney family
Update 1/5/2010:Hi Cathie,Well it's been just over
a year since Teddie came into our lives. He's become so
much a part of the family, right from the beginning, that
it's hard to imagine life before him. He is a very happy
dog, who loves to play, and go for walks and car rides.
He also loves to be held and to snuggle up next to you on
the couch. Unfortunately, it's been a difficult year for
my parents with various health issues, but Teddie was
there to comfort them. He learned very quickly how to be
gentle when hopping up to sit with Dad in their favorite
chair after Dad's surgery. Mom is currently in rehab
after breaking her leg for the second time in less than 6
months. Her first term at rehab lasted 7 weeks, and she
often mentioned missing her dog. This time she's in a
pet-friendly rehab center, so Dad brings Teddie to visit
her every day. Again, he knows to be gentle around her,
and will sit very comfortably snuggled in her arms.
According to my Dad, Teddie is a big hit with the nurses
and other patients too. Everyone who meets this dog seem
to fall instantly in love with him, which is
understandable, since he really is one of the sweetest
animals I've ever known. I've attached a few more recent
pictures for you to see. Thank you and Happy New Year!

Hi Kerri, We have had a
wonderful several hours together. Have ordered the
Merrick puppy food and some dry food. Will be shopping
Monday for his clothes and some new toys they can
further share. They are both sleeping in my lap. . It
already feels as if Mugsy belongs. I put them in the
playpen together and they did well. We'll try it tonight
and we'll also put them in our bed. I will let you know
how their night went tomorrow. Thank you so much. Mugsy
is going to be such a big part of our lives and he is
already working his way into our hearts. We'll stay in
contact.

Hi Kerri, As I
write this, my two little muffins are asleep
together in the playpen here in the TV room. They
chased each other around until all their energy
ran out. The dog food looks great and they both
enjoyed it with a little dry food and water mixed
in and we are headed to a store in Brockton for a
few cans tomorrow, as I ordered quite a bit today
via the Internet. I have never seen Sammy eat so
fast. It was funny. We'll let you know in the
morning if Dom ended up sleeping in the guestroom
:-)

|
Sunday morning -Hi
Kerri Well, we are here. My muffins are calmer this
morning. It was pretty rough night, but one that
showed promise. The pups woke up at 12:30 AM (went to
bed at 11:30 PM ! ) and wanted to be held. Around
5:00 AM we put Mugsy in the playpen with soft blankets
all around him. I watched as he went into a deep sleep
immediately. Then we finally got a little sleep.
Actually, I expected this and it will get calmer and
calmer. This morning they are calm and have had a
wonderful breakfast. Dry food and wet food. They are
napping now and will be full of energy in a little bit
UGH :-) They are so full of love and I am so happy. I
am separating them a bit, as Mugsy is here in the
playpen taking his nap. He needs to have more calming
nap times then Sammy. I can see the difference in the
age on this. He just seems to drop when he is sleepy
and Sammy is just starting to get out of that. They
are adorable together and I am so glad that we did
this now. I think in another couple of months, Sammy
alone here, would have become too territorial. I have
been playing and rubbing Sammy's paws since I got
him. I have already started doing that with Mugsy so
that he will be comfortable with that. We'll keep you
posted and always feel free to do a home check!!!!

Hi Kerri We had a
wonderful night last night. Sam and Mugs fell asleep
as soon as I put them in, around 11:00 PM and slept
straight through until I got them up at 7:15 this
morning to go downstairs. Wow! They had a wonderful
morning playing then went into a heavy heavy nap time
for about 2 hours and had a nice lunch then back to
play time. I love the idea that we can be home to
watch all this. I am amazed at Mugs. He hits that
pad every time and hopefully will train Sammy. We'll
see, I think Sammy might eventually catch on. One
thing I am concerned about is Mugsy is having very
loose stools. We have given him pumpkin (he loves it)
and he is still having them. Can you let me know
exactly what you fed him ratio of dry/wed food? We
are changing something that his tummy does not agree
with. Here are two pictures: Nap time and play
area. Also one of Mugs and Sammy. Mugsy, right now,
is sitting on top of Sammy!
Lydia
Note: Mugsy was
Sampson and came into Yorkies Inc with his sister
Delilah. They proved too much for the family who got
them for their sons as a Christmas gift partly because
they were sold at just 8 weeks of age and too young to
leave their mother.. Reputable breeders do not
allow their pups sold before at least 12 weeks. Both
pups are now happily enjoying their new homes.

Penelope

Tiny (L) &
Penelope (R)
Hi Kerri, It’s taken a while
but I wanted send you a Happy Tail for Penelope. To begin
with she has been so easy and won me over immediately. She
has been nothing but a love from the minute we met. She is so
affectionate loves to give yorkie kisses, is right beside us
whether we are sitting on the couch or at the computer she’s
like our little shadow. She’s actually sitting right next to
me as I write to you. It took a week or so but she now loves
her chew toys and stuffed animal toys, we are trying to teach
her fetch. She is able to do sit, down, give paw, and roll
over. We hadn’t realized how attached to us she was until we
took her to playgroup where she didn’t leave our sides for
very long. Penelope is my walking partner, we walk everyday
either around the neighborhood or down at beach or park. I
simply can not say enough good things about her, for us she’s
the perfect little girl. Penelope is very respectful to our
senior yorkie Tiny ( who is 11 yrs old) and she gets along
great with our cats. Thank you very much for matching us to
Penelope. Can’t wait to see everyone at the Yorkie Beach
Party in May.

Max

Dear Cathie, As you can see Max and Ben are enjoying the
snow, Max is on the right. Max loves to lay on people and
seems to be adjusting well here. He and Ben are funny
running around the yard and playing with each other. Ben
seems to have found his long lost friend although sometimes
there is still a testosterone battle going on only for a
second or two, but Ben wants Max to know he's the boss. We
couldn't be happier with Max.Thank You again and Happy New
Year

Faye
now Noelle

Hi Cathie, Sunday was an exciting day--we were getting our
little princess all set up/ & making her feel comfortable in
her new home. She is just a love, your right, a lovable
teddy bear. My daughter/son in law came by and loved her as
well. She had 2 great nights of sleeping, & using the peepee
pad. I was concerned Sunday she wasn't eating, but she ate
yesterday (only once though-the full coffee scoop worth).
Today, I work at home, so we'll get some additional bonding
time. Our hearts break for her 'debarking'. There is a
little noise--like a groan she does that my husband thinks
she's having a problem swallowing or something is stuck; but
I think this may be the noise you told me about (part of her
being overweight). I'm sure over the next few days; I may
get a quick question pop up; at the moment I don't have any
and I'll be sure to get her 1st Christmas pictures and send
some. Thanks so much! Merry Christmas

Talia

Talia &
Suzie
Hi Cathie, Hope you and your family had a nice Christmas. We
had a wonderful time with many family members here at our
house. Tally didn't know which lap to be on and kept playing
musical laps, she had a ball and everyone loves her! I have
been so busy with everything to prepare for the company that I
am now getting around to writing you a check for a donation.
She's a keeper, she's a great addition although time will tell
she may end up as the "lead dog" She does try some dominate
things with Suzie, our family member from Colorado who
volunteers with the humane society out there says it does look
like Talia with end up being the lead dog as Suzie is so shy,
but it doesn't seem to be a problem with Suzie. We are really
glad you thought of us for her it's good. :O) She seems like
she's pretty happy here. Thanks
Nancy
Update: Hi
Cathie, You asked if Tally is still favoring Kent. She had
soooo many laps this past week, she didn't know where she
wanted to be. Now that things have settled down a bit she
seems to be sharing her lovin's with both of us. Time will
tell if she is going to be Daddy's girl! I think she is
leaning that way. We'll keep in touch.
Nancy
1/11/2009:Dear Cathie, Well, it looks like I'm a keeper. It's
hard to believe I've been in my new home for 5 whole weeks
now. There's so many things I want to tell you but I don't
know where to start. I really enjoy my new big sister Suzie.
She's pretty quiet, but I'm giving her barking lessons and
she's showing signs of progress! We keep each other company
during the day. And we both give Mom and Dad a big welcome
when they get home from work, (it doesn't take much from a dog
to make humans happy : ). Suzie and I both get to sleep in the
"big bed" with Mom and Dad. And right before bed we get a
couple of treats. We had a lot of company for Christmas. I've
never seen so many laps in one place! Of course, I had to try
every one of them. But you know what? I like Mom's the best.
Most days we get up in the morning and head outside. After
that, it's breakfast! They're pretty stingy with the portions
but they say it's for my own good. I guess they want to keep
me healthy so I'm around for a looooong time! Dad and I play a
lot. I was able to bring my toys to my new home and that was a
big help to have something familiar in new surroundings. We
like to play tug-o-war and fetch. I guess that's all I can
think of for now. It's not easy for a dog to use a keyboard. I
have attached a couple of pictures. I'm very photogenic don't
you think? One is a picture of me and one of my favorite toys,
"Bally" and the other is me livin' the good life! Thank you
for finding me such a good home Cathie.
Love, Talia Lyn
P.S. Sorry it took so long to get to the happy tails, but we
have been enjoying Talia so much we just took this long to get
around to it. We are both loving this dog alot and she seems
to share the loving and has plenty of it for all of us! Suzie
and her are having alot of fun too! It's a very good fit.
Thank you again for thinking of us!
Update 2/11/09: Hi Cathie, Things are going well. Talia is the
"boss", once in awhile they get into a squabble. But overall
it's working out very well. It's turning out to be a long
winter and they have been a lot of fun having Talia in our
family is a great addition. Talia really is very affectionate,
and has alot of "cat like" behavior's so she's just fun. Still
has alot of puppy in her where as Suzie coming from a breeder
is very sedate and seems like she's older than she really is.
The name Talia has grown on us and we call her Talia Lyn more
than we thought we would. Hope things are going well with all
of your pups. It was so cute seeing Davy in his Pj's.
Sincerely,
Nancy

Maggie/Magli

so
far so good both kids came home,,,, at different times. Allie
went right over and laid with her and after about 15 mins I
think they were both asleep she was rubbing her between the
eyes. she asked if she could sleep in her bed with her.
UMMMMMMMM NO! then Jon got home, he went in and laid with her,
and then tried to get her to play. then he stood up and said
were it the leash I need to take her for a walk so she knows I
am her leader. LOL!!!!! KIDS!!! I showed her the horses ( that
was before the kids got home ) she was
timid at first. then I took her for a walk, she eat all her
dinner and pills. I think she is going to be tired from all
the attention.
Erin
Update:
Hello, I hope
you are staying warm....Rick spent the day spoiling Magli, he
is soo in love. he took her for a ride in the car. he said she
perked right up and loved it. Yes,, she likes the snow!
she buries her nose in it, and pushes it. LOL!!!! I tried to
call the vet today, and will try again tomorrow.
if not I will make sure I get him/her on Monday! she is
adjusting very very well.

1/23/09:
O
my gosh she is so funny!!!! she LOVES rick, she is
SOOOOOOOOOOO his Dog! she was playing puppy with him the other
day, you know when they go down low on the front legs and pop
up left and right, and then wrestle. LOL!!! if he is gone for
a few hours and comes home she tells him a good story and
whines for a few minutes, then follows him like a 3rd leg. he
takes her every place he can, unless it is to cold. she is
doing great, showing lots of personality - she even jumped up
to sniff what was on the counter tonight when I brought dinner
home. I know thats not a good thing, but with her it is, it
shows she is comfortable and that she is coming out of her
shell. tomorrow her and her bed get a bath. thanks,

Sundance

Well Ladies, He’s here and settled in nicely. We arrived home
and I assigned duties to Abbott and Winnie, as I walked
Sundance around the yard to do his “whatever”. The cushy dog
bed was first in the house in front of the wood stove and
VOILA! Tucci the cat was instantly tucked neatly inside….Ahhhhhhh.
Sundance was greeted by the “Girls” each one at a time….”Lady”
walked by him literally passing under his nose….he is so
big. The “Girls” did the prerequisite butt-sniff and that
was that. He set about discovering his new home….Tucci got out
of his “new” bed and gave him a head butt to which Sundance
responded with a lick on the face. Lol...the official stamp
of approval! As for the other 2 cats…..”Olaf” the skittish
one…just gave a quick sniff and an even quicker retreat. Now
for “Max” aka “Rasputin”…..we harnessed and leashed him till
he got the idea that this was definitely a “NO ATTACK ZONE”.
He spent the nite in the basket in which Sundance’s food and
meds arrived and just stares at Sundance….with that unspoken
question….”WHY????”!!!!! He had a relatively quiet nite in the
crate….got me up once to go outside 3am….UGH! Oh well, I
had to pee also…so wasn’t a total waste. This morning I called
my Dr. Bob to discuss his care and waiting for a call back. He
is a very quiet senior citizen….and those cataracts…are quite
apparent…I think he sees shadows and not much else….runs into
furniture…etc. And so it goes…More to follow…Winnie is
absolutely delighted…..Reb
THANKS SO MUCH TRACY, SUE AND CATHIE
Update 1/24/09:Hi Tracy, Just wanted to update you on
Sundance. He is doing well...I am getting supplies from my
clinic where I used to work, and good direction on managing
his diabetes from the Doctor there, who is also a good friend.
At this point I am using Ketodiastix and getting morning
urine catch to test. He is right where we want him to be and
is getting between 5 and 6 units mostly. So all is well. He
sleeps until 5am and then starts to bark for food…as I have
discovered. if admonished, he will go back to sleep. BUT at
7am…(who needs an alarm clock?) he starts again…so up I
get…catch some urine and test and shoot. Then he is ready to
go back to sleep. The little POOP! I have an appointment
early Feb to do a Fructosamine…..just to see how he is doing.
I expect no problems…He has learned the way around very
quickly…even out in the yard. He uses the snow piles as
directions….he will be confused when it all melts away and
summer comes...but we are all fenced in where he will be, so
he can’t get into harm’s way. Meanwhile he never leaves my
side….no need to tell him to “heel”. I have nearly killed
myself a few time falling over him. If I sit down, he jumps up
next to me whether or not there is room and scrunches his butt
around till he has space and then leans on me. Cute guy. So
hope you enjoy knowing he is fine and happy…Thanks to the
ladies at Yorkies Inc. as well….Kind regards,
Rebecca
(We
can't thank Rebecca enough for taking in a special little guy
like Sundance. He's a senior and has diabetes and needs two
injections daily. Luckily for him Rebecca is a Vet tech with a
huge heart! And holds a special place for seniors & special
needs in it!) |
