Sissy

Millie
(left also adopted through Yorkies Inc)
& Sissy (r)
Hi Cathie, We just wanted to send you an update on Sissy to
let you know she is doing well. She came through her surgery
like the little trooper that she is. She loves lounging around
on the couch with Millie. The two became fast friends. Both of
them had the same life coming from a puppymill and having
mammary tumors, so they have a lot in common. She is a great
little girl. Sissy loves to snuggle with us and can often be
found laying on her little snugglie blanket that you gave her.
I plan to go out to the Yorkie Shoppe on your website and
order more because she loves them so much! I'll be looking at
the little sweaters too and get her one for the cold weather.
She was a mother for so long, now she deserves to be mothered!
Thanks for all that you do for these "special" yorkies. It is
amazing that once they are given the proper care and love,
they thrive. And thanks again for letting us give Sissy her
forever home. She is a keeper.

Freddie
now Teddie

Jackie
w/Spike & Al w/Teddie
Teddy went to our vet yesterday and had his sutures removed,
she gave him an A plus for his health, his eye has cleared up
nicely. He tested neg for Lyme disease and received the the
vaccine. He is sooo sweet, he follows me everywhere. He is
interacting well with Spike, they chase each other all around
the house, they are becoming good buddies as I had hoped.
Thank you Yorkies Inc. for giving us the opportunity to adopt
this precious dog.
Jackie
1/7/09:Hi
Kerrie, Teddy is doing fine, he and Spike have bonded
VERY well. We left Mass yesterday for three months in the
RV down south, first time for Teddie so he's a little
spooked! He is very well behaved, and has taken a shine
to me, especially, which I love! Your Franklin is
adorable, thanks for sharing the picture, and thanks for
keeping in touch.,

Columbo

Hello Cathie and Kerri! ~Greetings from Charlestown
-- I am in love. Columbo is just the
sweetest.....the nipping/barking has subsided
some......I think it was just nerves on his part.
Other than that, he has been wonderful and charming,
a perfect gentleman! It is funny, with Peter, he is
playful, a bit rambunctious, hyper-puppy.....he
cuddles, behaves like a perfect gentleman with
me.....it is such a nice mixture. He came to school
last week - it was too early for him to go to
"group," but he sat in the office with me. He was a
hit with the teachers and custodians, people came in
to see him all day. He is now getting more attention
than I am, the Home Ec class is making him a quilt
(!?!?!) and a teacher bought him a little squeaky
lamb-toy (see photo). He will not put it down. He is
too cute at night, sleeping right between us.....I
had to order ANOTHER seat for the car as he thinks
the first one is a bed and spends his time snoozing
in it. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sending
him my way - you two REALLY know what you are doing
and you were exactly right about him, he is indeed a
"fit." Next weekend, we head to Connecticut, I am
sure that he will be a hit with the extended family.
On a more formal note, I did take him to the vet,
Everett Animal Hospital up here, his stitches are
out, shots in order, we go again on Monday. Please
let me know if there is anything else I officially
need to do ---
I send both of you my very best wishes....as well as
a link to a great website http://www.pawlux.com/.
I found many things for Coulmbo here, and was so
impressed by the samples and personal note that came
with my order, I felt pampered too!!!
Take care - I will be in touch again soon.
xoxo

Penny
Betty w/Sam
&Penny in her lap
Hi Kerri, Thanks again for everything. The
updates on Penny after her surgery were very much appreciated
and the little blanket is adorable…..she loves it. Just
letting you know Penny seems to be adjusting well. She ate
some food shortly after you left, then went out in the yard
with Sam for a little bit, and is now fast asleep with Sam on
the sofa…two couch potatoes ! …and, as usual... I’m sitting
on the floor.
J
Will send you pics & updates soon
Betty DeYeso
Update 9/29/08: Hi Kerri, All is well at “Betty’s Puppy Spa”
! Penny is just the sweetest little dog and is adjusting
very well. She knows her name. I have a daily “routine”
for Sam which Penny follows. Yes, she sleeps with us.
She’s been sleeping right through the night. Sam is very
good with her and does not seem to be jealous at all. The
dogs are up at 6:30 a.m and Sam & Penny are out
to the yard to do their business. Penny gets the same
food as Sam, mixed with the dry puppy food you left us.
After they eat, they get their teeth & coat brushed . Penny
watches us like a hawk … It’s quite funny to watch. Although she’s
been following Sam out to the yard, she just started to be
playful with him today which was nice to see. I don’t know
if I told you...her vet appointment is Monday, Oct 6th
to remove the stitches and a general check up. You
seem very busy with Yorkies, Inc. We should be around
Wednesday evening. She you then.
Betty
10/7/08:Hi Kerri, Hope
all is well with you & Yorkies, Inc. Penny’s vet visit went
well. Her stitches removed and had a general checkup. Other
than a mild ear infection (which I suspected as she was
shaking her head & scratching her ears the last couple
days), she’s doing great. Penny is doing much better just
with the ear wash & drops I’ve been giving her since
yesterday. Unlike other dogs I’ve had, Penny seems to like
going to the Vet…she didn’t want to leave! In the week we’ve
had her, she’s learned to climb the stairs, jump on & off
the bed & sofa. She lets me brush her teeth, & groom
her...and…she discovered that if she stands up on her hind
legs she can reach most anything on the family room coffee
table! She’s sweet, has a great personality & certainly
makes us laugh. J Looking forward to many, happy & healthy
years with our “lucky Penny”.
Betty,
Andy, Sam, Penny Update1/7/09:Hi
Kerri, Great hearing from you. Happy New Year to you
also. Franklin is just so adorable! How old is he? Penny &
Sam are doing well. Penny gained a little weight and looks
better. She's been with us about 3 months , but seems
longer...like she was always with us !part of the
family. She loves Sam & is great company for him. Thanks
for sending Franklin's picture. You have two other Yorkies
?? Keep in touch & we'll l do the same.

Elvis

Barbara
w/Elvis sleeping and Adam (also adopted from
Yorkies Inc.)
Good Morning Kerri and Cathie, Yesterday was a whirlwind of
a day. Elvis, Adam and Sasha ran around the yard, met the
whole family and toured the nieghborhood. For the most part,
except for one scap, the kids all played nice. Adam loves
running around the yard chasing Elvis. They are so cute
together. Today we are planning on going for a walk with
mom's frind Jenny, then to the park, riding in the car,
meeting the vet and playing with toys. Ohh boy I am so
excited to be a part of my new family. Mom loves taking
pictures and you can see that I am all tuckered out from
yesterday's festivities. It was Dad's birthday but, it felt
like more of a celebration for me. Send my love to my
brothers and sisters and kisses to you both Kerri and
Cathie.
Barbara
9/23/08: Hi Cathie, Mr. Elvis is a
sweetie. He is still a little timid but managing to fit in
with the crew. Adam and Miss Sasha go in spirits with
investigating him. I think there noses are a little bent
out of joint. Oh well...its a dogs life. I will keep you
posted as to their success. Thanks so much for honoring us
with another baby.

Matilda

Well we made it home and she looked out
the window most of the time from my lap. I did take her
out to pee and it took about 15 minutes before she finally
did. She knew right where the step and door in were right
away and even scratched on it to get in. This was when I
was trying to get her to pee so she kept going to the door
until maybe she finally got that doing a pee would get her
in the house. She's been going around the house kind of
checking it out. She's probably wondering where her
fostermom and brothers are.
She has
a nice, new pink baby blanket and new bed and she did mess
up the blanket until it suited her and she slept in the
bed for a while. Then I caught her looking out the
sliding glass doors just as all my other dogs did. She
has no clue how to use the ramp yet but that will come
with time and practice. She sneezes a lot while outside,
I wonder if she has allergies? When she runs she has a
little bit of a hop in her back legs. So for now she's
just checking out her new home and she seems to like Eddie
(my husband) and that makes him happy because Scarlett
would bark at him and nip his ankles all the time. It was
funny seeing all your little ones going to the door and
barking. I love it!! I hope Tilda (her nickname) will
be a barking watchdog. I miss that since losing Scarlett.
I'll keep in touch to let you know how she's adjusting but
I don't see any problems as soon as she knows this is
home.
Susan and tilda
update 9/1/08:
Kerri, She is so sweet really. She won't stay on my bed
yet and because it's so high off the ground I'm afraid
of her jumping off so I'm just going to put her bed in
my room at night until she masters the ramp and uses it
all the time. My bed is very high off the floor and a
jump from her would do real damage. I'm not concerned
in the least about her little hop. I cut a bit of her
hair around her eyes, just the hair that was in front of
her eyes. She definitely hates her paws touched, so
typical of all dogs. So far no poop today and it takes
her (with me) around 20 minutes outside for her to stay
away from the door and pee. It's now 12:50am and I'll
take her in the bathroom with me when I take a bath and
then I'll take her out one last time for the night to
see if she poops. I'm a definite night person and all
my dogs turn out to be night pooches too. We have a
mini cooper and tomorrow Eddie, Tilda and I are going
for a ride, maybe to Newburyport where they have a great
petstore to see what they have for plates and a water
bowl. I put all Scarlett's stuff away and I can't bear
to let another dog use any of her stuff. Tilda will
have all new stuff that belongs to just her. I'm very
happy she's here and I know she's going to be just as
happy as I am.
Susan and Tilda aka Matilda
Update 9/3/08 Hi, Matilda is doing great. I
think she is slowly warming up to me but she will not
stay on my bed yet. If I lift her up and pet her
constantly she will stay but the second I stop it's
right down the ramp she goes. She doesn't know how to
go up the ramp yet. She's eating great and she's
soooooo sweet. I bought her a few new toys and she
just uses her nose to put them under the radiator in
the kitchen. She still likes Eddie and he adores
her. Strange behavior for him. We left her alone for
the first time today while I went with Eddie for his
doctor appt. She was good as gold and greeted us with
wiggles, wags and kisses. She still won't pee or poop
for me but she did poop on the rug this morning. No
problem for us, all of our rugs have been christened
by all of our dogs through the years. She is
absolutely adorable, loving and sweet. Did I say
sweet again? Well that's a good adjective for her. I
bought her 3 beds. One for the kitchen, 1 for the TV
room and the other for my bedroom. I just got through
buying her some cute sleeveless T shirts, one says
Cute as a Button but it has a button where the word
should be. Were you able to get her bloodwork yet? I
would like to take it down to the vet when I take her
for a checkup, just a routine one I always did for my
dogs. Of course it seems like my last 4 dogs had vet
visits all the time. I'm praying that Matilda just
has to have a yearly one. We love her and will take
very good care of her.
Susan
9/21/08: Kerri, Matilda uses the ramp all the time
now and she sleeps with me too. Sometimes I wake
up and she's sleeping on my stomach. I guess it's
nice and squishy for her. We take her almost
everywhere we go and we actually have a nice
console doggie car seat for her. She is the most
endearing little dog that gives so many kisses.
We just love her so much.
She LOVES sleeping on my bed even if I'm not in
it. If I can't find her that's where she'll be.
This Wednesday I'm taking her in for a checkup.
Just a checkup, nothing invasive or anything.
Just to get her used to being at the vet and
having the vet handle her. So all is well in our
house with our new little girl. She's happy to be
here I just know it and we couldn't be more
pleased and happy having her here in our family.
s usan and matilda
H1/10/09:i
Kerri, I've been thinking about sending you an
email. Matilda is doing great. She still barks
at my grandchildren but has no interest in
them. She loves Eddie of course but the lure of
the bed will keep her with me while I watch TV.
She even sleeps up next to me from time to
time. She mostly likes the pillows. She is
such a good and sweet little girl. I've been
really working on her diet and she's not a bit
happy. She won't eat carrots, apples or
anything good like that but I've cut back on her
food and added more veggies which seems to
satisfy her. Also instead of a whole treat she
just gets a small piece. She's okay with that
too. Thanks for the cute pic of Franklin. He
doesn't look that happy with his frosty outfit
on but he sure looks adorable.

Toby

Bill w/Toby & his Grandson
Hi Kerri,
Toby is doing well. He goes for a walk every morning at the
park and loves it. Sometimes he goes again in the
afternoon. This past weekend he went to three football
games. Everyone who meets Toby cannot get over how friendly
he is. He is still not fully using his leg but he still has
his staples in. He is going to the vet this week to have
them removed and I will let you know how he makes out.
Thank you again for finding Toby for me Bill
9/21/08 Hi Kerri, I found it. It was easy
enough. What a great doctor and nurse. Toby did well. He
just needs his exercise now. The doctor said he needs to
build up his muscles in his legs. Other than that he is
doing fine. What a great dog he is. He is still holding
that leg up every once in a while but it will take time.

Fern now
Jewel

Kim Allard-Moccia
w/Fern (now Jewel) & Kim Moccia w/Gemma
I
was great to meet you earlier today and I cant tell you how
pleased we were when we left your lovely home. We felt much
better seeing where Fern was staying and it was great to see
all your "babies" Within a few hours of being home Fern was
asleep in Kims arms...( Mortgage Kim) Fern is doing well and
loved her first dinner with us. But before that we took her
and Gemma back out in the car to get some new doggie supplies.
No spit up this time :-) Here are the photos of the girls this
afternoon. There is also a photo of Betty and Sam. I am sure
we will be talking tomorrow... After the first night :-)
Thanks again!
"The Kims"
Update 8/30/08:ok, so today
was another test...we had Kim's cousin cousin over with her
2 children (1& 5 years old) and her husband and Kim's Uncle
and Father. Fern was a joy.... Gemma on the other hand
wouldn't stop barking ( I have got to get a spray bottle)
the kids were very loud and active but left the dogs alone.
Fern appeared to be her normal self... she followed us
around and sat with us on the sofa... no bad behavior at
all. Today we have been able to pick her up quite a bit and
snuggle our faces with hers.... about an hour ago Kim got
the first kiss from her. YEA!!!! Fern was distant with Kim's
father and uncle but we expected that.... but later she was
sitting next to them on the couch. Once the crowd left, Fern
and I took a nap on the sofa and she stayed with me the
entire time...She is a little love.... here are some more
photos :-)
Update 8/31/08:Well
another day has passed and it was a success. The girls were
up at 6:30 and I brought them right out. Then everyone was
fed. And then back to sleep for a few hours. We spent the
entire day in the yard and at the pool. Fern and Gemma have
there own pen that they stayed in...Between games of fetch
and potty breaks. Fern is great at fetch, and gemma just
runs beside her and doesn't quite get the idea of bringing
an object back :-)
Update 9/3/08:Glad
you are enjoying the photos...things here are great... we
really love both our little girls...We must not have been
thinking when we gave gemma the foods you gave us and she
ended up with the runs. Now we realize that we should have
mixed it in with her regular food more gradually.
Regardless, gemma had very loose movements since Saturday
and today we finally took her to the vets because she was
up every 2 hours last night... and so were we...cleaning
up and cleaning her little bum.
we
have had them both on rice and chicken since Sunday so I
really would have thought that it would have corrected
itself...but nope. All is well, no parasites, just a
sensitive tummy and the vet gave us some flagil (sp?) for
her... so we are looking forward to an uneventful
evening...we decided to change her name to Jewel ( like
Gemma ...a precious stone) we wrestled with it all weekend
and then finally decided that ...we are loving Jewel and
don't see any reason why we wouldn't want to keep her. We
would like to make an appointment for her to see our vet
and then I guess its official? Both dogs just love each
other and as each day passes we see little signs of
improvement in her....She did throw up in the Car on
Friday then again on Monday but today's trip she was
fine.... poor thing. I have attached a portrait of her and
one with her chasing gemma who has a leaf in her
mouth...thanks again for all the joy you have brought to
us...
The Kims
Update 9/29/08:Things are great… jewel has quite a
personality…. And just loves her sister gemma. They get
along better than could be imagined. We had a golf
tournament last week and took the girls to betty’s house
to spend the day with Sam. And poor jewel wanted nothing
to do with Betty…Betty was so upset that she couldn’t
comfort jewel, so from the second hole on the course we
told her to just do as she normally would with gemma and
Sam. Sure enough about 3 hours later, jewel cam around a
bit… but then betty tried to pick her up and jewel snapped
at her. Since betty cant weigh 80 pounds and isn’t over
4’5” I guess I have to think that jewel was just very
frightened. I told betty to just let Jewel do her thing
and when we go there at 8:00pm Jewel was sleeping ( one
eye open) on the couch. When jewel saw us, Betty said that
she turned into a different dog, happy and playful and not
so nervous… Betty was thrilled. We are headed over to
Betty’s again today to try another trial run with the new
dog Penny and Sam… and see if we can’t get jewel to relax
a bit. The biggest challenge so far is to get the girls to
go out in the rain… even with their rain coats; they want
nothing to do with it. This morning I had to carry them to
the yard. Then they both ran back to the door, I
brought them in and then jewel ran upstairs and pooped on
the bedroom floor…. (I don’t blame her, it was nasty out)
So other than that…. Things are well… weekly baths, flea &
tick medicine and heartworm are all set, the double leads
for the car seats have been installed, jewel and gemma
have matching Winter Corduroy coats… One big happy family.
Talk to you soon..

8/22/09:We went to Bar Harbor last week and we thought
you’d get a kick out of these photos…of course we all had
to take the pups with us, 5 adults, 6 Yorkies and 4
kids..oh boy!
Kimberly Allard-Moccia

Gemma & Jewel (Fern)
Fern came in to Yorkies Inc. as a stray. She was living
under a porch for more than 3 weeks and was very scared
and thin when we got her. Our best guess is she is only
about 2yo and is only about 5lbs and her good weight. So
sad to think she had to fend for herself outdoors. She
blossomed quickly once she was living indoors and was
getting good food a warm bed and love! We are thankful for
Kim & Kim and all the attention they are giving her. What
a change from how she was living previously.

Sparky

Sparky's a keeper...he's having a great time here and
bonding well with the girls, after being stuck to me for two
days. Seems to like the cat too! Going to put on his life
vest this afternoon and see if he'll swim. I ordered the
car console doggie seat for him as well. He did great
sleeping last night and didn't get up until 6AM. We will
take some pictures of him with the digital camera and
forward them to you (I need my daughter's to load the
pictures...sorry, I am technologically retarded). We'll be
in touch soon. Thanks for letting us have Sparky, we LOVE
him.
Wendy and Family
9/23/08: Hi Cathie, hope all is well. Just giving you an
update on Sparky. He's doing great! Loves riding in the
car, "playing" with the cat and sleeping on someone's
lap. He has been to my daughter's softball games and the
team now calls him their mascot. We are going to try
another school, Especially for Pets in Medway, because the
other place we tried uses the clicker method and I don't
care for that. The girls have taught him sit, lay down
and paw so far. We are working on stay (pretty good) and
come (not so good). He's been a lot of fun and we are
enjoying him so much. Tell all the Yorkies that Sparky
says "woof"!

Miley

Phyllis w/
Miley, Riley &Lily
Hi Cathie, We love Miley!! She is such a bundle of puppy
energy and a joy to have in our family. She loves to play with
Riley and he will oblige her from time to time. Lily is still
getting use to sharing the spotlight with her but all in all
everyone is getting along famously. Miley loves going for
walks and loves to run which I am watching closely. She is
using her leg more and more and I have been monitoring her
activity so she doesn't over do it. We are so delighted to
have her! In the picture I am sending you, Miley is on the
left, Riley is in the middle and Lily is on the left. We will
keep in touch. Sincerely,
Phyllis, Rick, Riley, Lily and Miley
Update 8/28/8:Dear Cathie,I am so excited to see Miley and
Riley play but even more so when Miley
and Lily get going. They are having so much fun. I am so
delighted to have all the puppies get along so well. We walk
together, play together, and Miley is getting the idea more
and more that her poops and twinkles are done outside. I spend
a lot of time just watching and often join in the play myself
(only if invited) After their walks they immediately go to
the "cookie place" and Miley gets her Cherrio, while
Lily and Riley get their "snack". I am having a blast!! When
Rick gets home from work, it's one big happy family! Again, I
am available if you need any help with anything. Take care and
thanks for the opportunity to enjoy 3 Yorkies. Phyllis
Update 8/29/08:Cathie, I took her to my groomer to have her
nails done and a trim around the eyes but she fell in love
with Miley and with me helping we trimmed her up gave her a
bath and she is a little doll! I'll send you a picture. You
may not even recognize her. Linda (my groomer) was impressed
with how well she behaved. Phyllis

Update 9/1/2009: Hi Cathie, We
are still loving Miley. She has finished level one in
obedience and will be moving on to level two. She is really
smart and has come a long way. We do sit stays, down stays,
come, and heal. She is bringing us so such joy. We haven't
seen you on the water...Did you put you put your boat in this
year? We seem to be getting enough boating in with and
without our puppies. Miley loves boating. She and
Riley can boat all day long. Lily will go along with it
because we are all together. Hope things are well with you. I
do check in on your web site often. Looks like you still are
going strong. I'll talk again soon. Phyllis Corrado |

Ava

Hi
Cathie I can't believe how lucky I am to have Ava. She is the
best and she brings a smile to everyone who meets her. We go
to Curves in the mornings and then we go to Panara for coffee
with the girls and we sit outside. She is a great shopper, (my
husband is in trouble). As far a house training goes she has
only had 2 accidents in the house. The first night she slept
in her bed next to me on the floor, but you were right the
next night she was between Joe and I in the bed. She loves my
new grandson. On one of our shopping adventures we went to
Park Ave Puppy in Cranston, RI, what a great store, they asked
if she would do some modeling for them in their next show.
Ava's favorite place to chill is on the sofa next to Joe and
I. She loves to be in the backyard with me while I do the
gardening she lounges on the chair. Again thank you for Ava.
Cheryl & Joe
Update (/4/08: I Hi Cathie, just want to give you an
update on Ava. She has been to Point Judith, NH, Buffalo, NY
and to Canada. She is the love of our lives. Last night I
took her to Petco to speak with the trainer (they are there
for an hour on Tuesday and Wednesday nights) because Ava
gets so stressed when she is in a situation that she doesn't
understand or like, especially with other dogs. So the
trainer said to not put her in the penned area with the
other dogs but to walk outside the pen and just let her walk
with me instead of going in circles. After about a half an
hour she calmed down and we just kept walking outside the
pen and then we went home. I will continue to bring her so
that she can understand that nothing will happen and I am
there with her at all times. This morning we were in the
back yard ( as we do every morning) and she left my side and
ran after a squirrel the poor squirrel didn't know what had
happened. This is a great break through for her, we were out
all morning long. I am sure that she misses you as I know
you miss her, but I can't imagine life without her. Take
care

Buttons

Buttons is doing great. She has finally learned why she
is outside every few hours and that is a big step for
her. Maxx finds her very alluring at times and it turns
into play time, how funny they are together. She had her
stitches out last night and a check up by our Vet. Now
she will be going to the groomer at the end of the week,
if I can get her in for an appointment, if not then next
week. Buttons has healed very well, but the Vet says to
wait until the little holes heal too, so we are. And she
now flies up and down the back steps, not inside yet, I
think she is somewhat afraid of the stair lifter. I have
no doubt that soon she will be ignoring that and zipping
up and down those steps too. She the dog food, get lots of
crunch to keep her teeth clean, gets them brushed by the
way every night. She does try to hide when she sees the
brush coming, but does very well with the brushing. In
August we will be baby-sitting a smaller Yorkie for a week
who is very playful and I am sure Buttons will love her.
Maxx thinks she is just too busy for him............the
other Yorkie. We are really enjoying her and thanks for
finding her for us.
MaryUpdate7/31/08:Here is Buttons, right
from the Spa. One funny thing I meant to tell you is that
both dogs have their own beds. Neither one gets into the
other one. They carefully walk around them to their own.
Same thing with the water dishes. She has hers, he has
his. Now with the supper bowls, that is different, she
cleans his out the second he leaves it. We still must put
a door between them. Maxx eats too slow for
her..........We are really enjoying her and more and more
she has taken over the house.
Mary Alice
Update 1/5/09:Buttons
and Maxx lay together on the recliner, the couch,
and one night found them in
the same bed sleeping together. One will not
go out without the other. They get alone great now,
even playing at times. However, once the snow came
Buttons forgot she was housebroken. She loves to
run and play in it, but then comes in and hits a
rug. We took them with us for Christmas dinner at
our daughters and Buttons did the same thing at her
house although she was taken out every hour while we
were there. Needless to say, she is not welcome at
our other daughters house now. So we just won't go
there until she is fully housebroken! We won't
leave her home alone. She is so cute and funny we
really enjoy her and are so happy to have her.

Hi Kerri, Maisey/Ella is doing very well. This is going to
be a quick note, we're off for Maine - my sister lives on
the coast :) Ella is getting used to the city, slowly but
surely. She walks the entire Public Garden now - at first
she took a lot of breaks and I carried her part of the way.
She is soaking up all the attention she is getting - Ella is
going up and down the 4-5 steps to the courtyard. She is
quite food-motivated, as I'm sure you know. This week she
raced up all the stairs to the parlor in the mansion! Just
what I needed, another dog who thinks the whole mansion is
hers... :)Yesterday we had a "play date" with my friend's
three nephews who loved Scarlett and were so saddened when
she passed away. Ella seems to love everyone, and she did
great with the kids, lots of supervision, of course, as I
have to remind all the children that want to greet her that
she is small and will startle easily. I went to Petco, and
they have free puppy classes on Monday evenings. I got some
good tips from the trainer there, and we're working on those
- she needs structure - and so far, so good. More later,
Jane
6/25/08:Didn't give too much thought about the
housebreaking. I was reminded by my girlfriend that
Scarlett's smell is probably around, she was having
accidents during the last few weeks. My friend suggested I
have the carpets cleaned professionally, so as not to
confuse Ella. So I'll probably do that. I do believe it
isn't her fault. I was very good about getting her outside
every two hours, watching her constantly, etc., while in
Maine and she was perfect, no accidents. We had a great time
in Maine. Everyone loved her. I saw my sister picking her
up, talking to her, walking her - my sister isn't a dog
person. But she kept saying, "She's sooo cute." My niece
and nephew couldn't get enough of her, although Ella was
extremely clingy with me, I think it was the newness of
another house. Because she was not that clingy while we
were socializing outside the house. Today she played with a
friend's maltese - who I'll be dogsitting for this
week-end. They had such a good time! I saw Ella race
around, following Zippy everywhere! It was so funny to see
her get so excited about another dog! We're hoping that
Zippy will be a good example to Ella this week-end, and
teach her a few things. Ella seems to be happier inside the
house rather than in the courtyard. But I'd say it's only
been today where she left my side to go sit in her bed and
enjoy a new chewie we got. It was nice to see her feel more
comfortable. She also left the bed in the middle of the
night - so she learned to use those stairs to the bed, which
are quite steep - another good sign of her feeling more
comfortable. But she still wants to sit in my lap for long
periods of time (she is in my lap as I'm typing this!).
Which is fine. How long did you foster Ella? Do you know
how many times she may have moved around? I thought this
might have something to do with what could be a little
separation anxiety. I love her personality and she grows on
me more and more each day. My heart still feels heavy, the
loss of my wonderful Scarlett will be with me for a long
time. But I think Ella is just the dog I need right now -
full of affection, really cute, and I think a younger puppy
would be exhausting right now. You know, all the chewing,
etc. I called the vet in Mansfield for Ella's paperwork.
She needs a license - they are extremely strict here. Best,
Jane
update 6/27/08:Hi
Kerri, Ella did great. The dr. is very pleased that she
does so well - she doesn't favor the bad leg at all. He
wants to see her back again on July 24th. We went to the
beach afterwards. Ella doesn't really like the water
after all... am dogsitting this week-end for a friend's
maltese. I'm hoping the visiting dog shows Ella how to
relieve herself outside...
Jane
1/10/09:Hi Kerri,
Thank you. Happy New Year to you too! We missed the
yorkie meet up in Dec., I had a migraines and couldn't
get myself together by 10 AM. Hopefully, we'll see you
this month. We are doing well. Ella is learning some
tricks. Still working on potty training, but I've
read that yorkies are notoriously hard to housebreak!
Jane and Ella
Update 12/28/09

Dear Cathie and Kerri,
Happy Holidays! The last 1.5 years have passed so quickly and this note is long overdue, but I wanted to let you know how Ella (formerly Maisey) is doing. She is the joy of my life, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to adopt her. We are inseparable - Ella goes everywhere with me. I am so lucky to be able to work at home as I think long separations would not work for Ella. As Kerri might have told you, we joined the Little Yorkies playgroup in Boston - we even hosted some of the warmer weather meetups in my courtyard. Ella will probably always be skittish around other dogs, but she has become quite comfortable with her play group, especially when it is held on her home turf - she has lead the yorkies racing in and out of the house! Living downtown, Ella has made many friends with the shopkeepers and knows who gives out the treats! We get stopped constantly as people want to give Ella attention and she eats it right up! So many people have asked me where I got her and I promote Yorkies Inc. whenever I get a good feel from the people I'm talking to. Bless you and Kerri for your hard work and dedication to saving Yorkies and finding them good homes.

now Griffin

Emma in
white Griffin in Blue
Hi Cathie and
Kerri, just wanted to let you know that
Griffin and I
just got back from the vet and everything checked out good. He
was so good! They removed his stitches. He gained a little
weight and now weighs 4.6 lbs. She did say he was a bit thin
and should gain another pound or so which we already knew. He
and Emma seem to be doing pretty good. He would rather that I
didn’t give Emma any attention so I need to work with him on
that. Emma has been quite patient with him. It will take some
time for both of them to adjust to each other. Potty training
is going pretty good. Yesterday and the day before he pooped
on the puppy pad. I was really surprised. Most of the time he
has been pooping out doors. I have not let him go without the
belly band yet as I am still seeing a little pee in it. Maybe
another week or so on that I’m hoping! One good thing is I can
always keep my eye on what he’s up to as he’s always sitting
by my feet. Well that’s all for today. I will keep you posted.
Let us know if there is anything we can help Yorkie’s Inc
with. Stay cool!
Bonnie
Update6/11/08:Hi
Cathie,
Yes he is staying. We just love him. We are still working on
the house training. Hopefully that will be coming along soon.
He and Emma are doing much better. He is still not to keen on
going in his crate for bed but I think in time he will be
fine. We took them both with us today on a shopping trip for
plants. Griffin is just exhausted. He is a much better shopper
than Emma! We had a fun day together. Let us know if you need
any help with Yorkie’s Inc we would be glad to help you out.
Talk with you soon.
Bonnie
Update6/15/08:Hi Cathie,
I wanted to tell you that Griffin and Emma are really getting
along very well these past couple of days. They run around the
house chasing one another playing. It is just so cute! It made
us so happy to see Emma give in and except Griffin in our
home. I will send pictures of them soon. Thanks for
everything,
Ed and Bonnie

Update
12/9/08:Hi
Cathy,Hope all is well. I took the pups to see Santa and
thought you would like to
have one of them. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Talk
to you soon.

Stevie

Hi Kerri, She is doing wonderfully well. She slept with me
last night - went in the bathroom on her wee pads - but then
did a lot of peeing elsewhere. I think she is nervous and
wants to be sure she is staying. She's up on the couch now
with some stuffed animals and loves to sleep in her bed with
her blanket. Like you said - she doens't like to go out
maybe because she feels safer in the house. I just hand fed
her a little, she wasn't eating anything much - and I'm
going to give her a lot of time to adjust to her new
surroundings - not that she isn't acting like she's very
comfortable. She was a little sad last night - I'm sure
it's because she missed you - and it's very difficult to get
any kisses from her. I'm going to try to get a vet
appointment next week or maybe have one of the vets that
come to your home. My neighbor has two cats that have a
home vet. I think Stevie might like it more. One question
- not important one - was her coat cut so close because of
her being spayed. Not that I dislike it - in fact, I think
it looks cute for the summer - but the vet may ask. I
haven't seen her teeth yet as she gets nervous when I try to
open her mouth. As you can see I am psychoanalyzing Stevie
to no end - but she's been through a
lot - and I want her to be spoiled silly (in a good way).
She is so obedient when you call her and really wants to
please. I just love her to pieces, Kerri. Here you asked a
short question and I'm sending back a short novel. Thanks
again, Kerri, for coming her on such a miserable night.
Will keep in touch. Doris Toohey
update 6/7/08:Hi Kerri, Just to let you know that
Stevie did so well today using her peepee pads - even for
pooh. Had her out for a little longer walk than yesterday-
she is still a little reluctant to leave the house - but
is getting less so. My neighbors just love her. A big
plus - she sleeps as long as I want to - no complaints.
Best, Doris

Update 1/3/09:Hi
Kerri, How nice to hear from you - planned on
contacting you at Christmas but I think I was
exhausted from shoveling snow. Stevie is great -
loves to eat and take naps - will be happy when
winter is over and I can take her outside more
frequently. I think the noise on this street -
the buses and trucks - alarms her sometimes but
she loves socializing with the other dogs in the
building. She's up to date with her shots and
the vet really fell in love with her. Have
stayed overnight with friends for a couple of
the holidays and she's just great. All in all,
I think we're a great match. Shopped for her
Christmas presents at the Yorkie Shoppe - got
her a beautiful crocheted sweater (you probably
know the one) a new blanket and some bows. We
wish you and your little ones a very happy,
healthy New Year! We'll stay in touch from time
to time to keep you up-to-date.
Best, Doris

Botti

Hi Cathie, Just wanted to let you know the Botti had a great
check up at the Vet. Dr. Fox says he's a keeper and so do
we. He just keeps getting better and better and we love him
more and more each day.
Next week we will be back to normal around here. All the
work will be done and I will have quiet quality time with
the boy. Cash the check. We decided to keep him an only
child. Deep down in my heart I knew it was best to give our
attention to just one special little someone. The other
rescue was very understanding and appreciated our honesty.
I told them that when people see the little guys picture he
will be snatched up in a heart beat. I have a request,
I lost my approved food and treats paper. I might have lost
it went we went shopping yesterday. If it would not be too
much trouble could you send me another. Each day is an
adventure for both Botti, Arnie and I. We look forward to
tomorrow and all the years to come.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Marlene Owens
Updates 6/2/08:The little guy is doing great.
He is such a love bug. He snuggled all evening. He did
well through the night . We are working hard on the
training and I am sure we will get better
being on a regular schedule. He plays alot and sleeps alot.
We took a walk this morning and he is doing very well on
leash. I will be taking him to BBVa this week. I
have a call into the office, but they have not called back
yet. He will have his first visitors this afternoon my
son and daughter-in-law are coming to see him. I will keep
you up to date on his progress,
Marlene
Update6/15/08: I received a call from Marlene to tell me
that little Botti had discovered squirrels and jumped
right off the deck after one (without using the stairs!)
He ended at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialist where he had
under gone surgery to repair a break in his front leg. The
surgery was done by Dr Beaver and he had placed a plate in
the leg to secure the break. He was out of surgery and
doing well. But Marlene was so upset. I assured her
that accidents can happen, especially for pups just
becoming use to their new surroundings.
Update 6/16/08:Cathie, Thanks so much for being a
support when I have reached out. Botti does not seem to
be in any distress or pain and is resting comfortably. I
have included his latest picture.
Thanks, Marlene

Update6/21/08:Good
morning from the Owens Family, First let me say thank you
to you for the stroller. Botti has tried it out, but we
have not ventured out of the yard yet. He is getting more
active and we are keeping him busy with toys and chews.
His appointment with Dr. Beaver is Monday. I will let you
know how he makes out. We are going to spend the day in
the back yard. I will be gardening and the little prince
will be enjoying his chews in his pen on the covered
porch, with the fan going and a cold drink. Have a great
weekend,
Marlene
HUpdate7/15/08:i
Cathie, It was great to hear from you. I was going to
EMail you today. We have been doing great. Botti got
his bandage off this week and is doing good. He has put
some weight on it and is easy to keep busy with toys
and lovin. We just took a break and are doing what he
does best being couch potatoes. He has had an issue with
diarrhea. He had a fecal done last week and was
fine. I think it might ust be a little stress from his
Vet visit. I called CCVA and they said to just watch
him and if needed call BBVA. I gave him some pumpkin
and am watching him for any other behavior changes. We
had our first big outing since his accident. We went
for a long ride (he loves to ride in the car) and went
to buy flowers. I used the doggie stroller, he seems to
like it. I added some extra velcro tabs and made an
insert for the bottom. I am going to try to find
another pen that I can keep out on the porch he loves to
be outside and loves the fresh air and watching all the
birds. I am so pleased with the little guy. He is such a
love and I think once we are back to normal he will be
easy to train. I think he is a smart little guy and
minds well. Arnie is very attached to him and pays alot
of attention to him. I will keep you posted. When Dr.
Beaver gives us the OK we will be getting him in the
pool or some therapy. We bought him a life jacket.
Botti has more accessories than I do. Have a great
weekend, Marlene
8/5/08:Hi
Cathie, Botti got a clean bill of health. Dr. Beaver
said his leg was healed and even checked out both of
his hips. He did say to not over do, but Botti was
not having any part of it and I have had a time
keeping him from playing too hard. He has been in the
pool twice for some low impact exercising. He's not so
sure he likes it but does not seem afraid of the
water. He is doing great walking. We take three to
four walks a day. His training is going well. He
pees outside 80% and the Pad 20%. He still won't poop
outside, but I moved his pad to the deck and we have
had some success. He now does sit ,down, paw, and he
does stay. I am thinking he might have had some
training because he learns very fast and likes to
please me. He is doing well with people and does take
better to strangers. We have several big adventures
planned for next week and I think we will be taking
him with us for dinner one night. There is a
restaurant on Plymouth Beach that allows Dogs. If you
take Miley to the Vet or are in the area at any time
feel free to stop by. We would welcome a Visit
anytime. Thank you again for trusting us with one of
your pups. Botti is our special little Man. When I
say are you my handsome little man he rolls over and
rubs his mug with both his paws. He is a love.
Marlene
Update
12/11/08:Hi Cathie, Hope all is well and that you
had a great Thanksgiving. We spent the holiday in
Georgia and spent the week and a half prior to that
in NC and SC. We drove and Botti was the perfect
little travel buddy. He did great with our 3 year
old grandson, their 3 cats and 1 crazy old border
collie. He loved hotel living and had a great time
exploring with us. North Carolina is extremely
SMALL dog friendly and Yorkies seem to be the dog of
choice. He has been doing very well . His health is
good and I think he has gotten a little bigger. He
is both pad and outside trained. He rings a bell to
go outside. We don't let him go down the stairs so
he has a pen and box on the back deck. Weather
permitting we walk and run in the back yard. His
Vet said that with a pin and plate in his leg the
cold weather might bother him. He has lots of warm
clothes and I made him a felted wool heavy sweater
with matching leg warmers. His coordination is much
better, he hasn't fallen off anything in months.I
cannot
express how much we love him . He has brought so
much joy into our lives. I have never smiled so
much in my life and Arnie just adores his little
buddy. He takes over all the walks and feedings on
the weekends. THANK YOU!!!!! We have been
discussing adopting a second small furry family
member in a year or so. We were thinking of a five
year old female, but we are still in the discussion
stages.
Have a Merry
Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year,
Marlene

Lady now
Maggie

Vin
w/ Maggie & Betsy w/Winston
Cathie.....We went to Falmouth today to spend the day with
our 83 yr old friend from Florida. Check out the twins in
the back seat!! Lady did very well. She pees the minute
her little paws hit the grass - what a good girl! Last
night she planted herself between us on our bed and stayed
there all night. Every time Vinny rolled, she moved to
stay next to him! Winston stayed on the floor - in her
bed! They seem to be getting along fine. Oh - and when
she woke up from a nap on Doris's couch, her tongue was IN
her mouth for about 5 minutes! Maybe she'll figure out
how to work it yet. When exactly were her extractions?
Her vet appointment is Monday and I'm sure he'll
ask.........
Thanks again....she a love.
Betsy, Vin and Winston
Update 6/02/08:Hi there -Cash that check! We went to Dr
Heller at Milford Animal Hospital today and she's a keeper!
He said from the looks of her gums, there weren't that many
teeth pulled last week - looks like she'd lost most of them
over the past few years. That explains why she's able to
eat so well.
We love her and are thrilled to see her fly to the door,
tail wagging like crazy when we come home.
Thanks!
Betsy, Vin and Winston~The New Faraci Family of Fine Yorkies!

Update6/20/08:Hi there -Thought you'd like to see these
picture of "Lady", (who now answers to "Maggie Mae"). She
and Winston have bonded- she even let him on the bed with
her today (!) - see picture. She spends a lot of her time on
our bed, paws on the headboard, watching out the window for
BIRDS!! She is quite the hunter....always watching for birds
on the ground outside and snapping at bugs! She is a real
sweetheart - cuddling with us on the couch, lazyboy or
bed.....we made the right choice! Thanks....

Jacoby

Jacoby is doing very well, his first evening was a little
shaky but since then he has begun to take over the household.
His appearance was first tolerated by our 13 year old cat but
has already developed into a lets get together and play
relationship. Jacoby now knows his name and comes when
called{most of the time}. His house training has improved
thanks to your expert advise. This little guy has given us so
many laughs and brought so much joy into our home it is
difficult to explain. Jan and I cannot thank you enough for
bringing Jacoby into our lives. We will continue to keep you
posted on his progress. Thanks again!!!!! PS. Jacoby has a
hidden talent he can get out of his cage and get his diaper
off !!!!! WOW !!!!

Dante

We
can not believe how beautiful and well behaved Dante is. I
brought him in, we walked around in the backyard and then we
needed to go out to get something to eat. He came with us, sat
in the car very well behaved. Then we came back, we gave him
medication and dinner and the three of us watched a movie. He
slept in his bed next to me. We took him out twice, the second
time I can tell he was more confident with his sorrundings.
Kerri, he is far more than we expected. So well behaved,
so affectionate and so handsome. Our neighbors came to meet
him tonight. He likes girls. He was so friendly and open that
we have requests for "dogsitting" but we said no. He already
has reservations to travel with us and meet family. I cannot
thank you enough. He is behaving beyond our expectations.
After 1,000,000 kisses he is sleeping next to me. Update
tomorrow
Julio
5/25/08:I
think Dante is getting used to us. He almost did not eat
yesterday but today he ate a good breakfast. . Last night
finally he "poo" This morning we went for a walk and he
attracted a lot of attention, my friend is fascinated with his
behavior. And he was barking today. He sounds so cute and he
is fierce. If he was a big dog he would be feared. He bonded
with me. He is friendly and loving but if I leave the room he
does the same. I am SO happy.
Thank you for Dante
Julio
Greetings from Chicago!!
we
are walking alot!
Love Dante...

Rueben & Julio w/Dante on Vacation in Chicago
8/9/08: I just book my flight to San Juan, PR for Xmas. It
took almost two hours to get my reservation but I am going to
La Isla del Encanto in December. I am so happy that my daddies
took the time to make sure
that I will not be alone. Kisses
Dante

An
older male that isn't housetrained is not our easiest
placement. But Dante was one of the lucky ones! Dante is a
retired show dog he is 8yo and was not housetrained at all.
He also has almost no teeth left in his mouth and his tongue
hangs out sometimes. None of this stopped Julio and Rueben
from wanting to adopt! Little Dante has had the best
life ever since becoming part of their family! He dines in
Boston Bistro's, Jet-sets to NY City and now vacationing in
Chicago! What next for this lucky little bundle of love?!
Thank you to Julio and Rueben for looking beyond his issues
and for such dedication! |

Shalimar now Chardonnay

Daphne (l) & Nicole w/ Chardonnay (r)
Hi
Kerri,
Chardonnay ("Char") has had an "ok" first night. Liam and I
think she's adorable and we can't wait for her to feel safe
here! We have been feeding her the soft food and giving her
the antibiotics and, by the way, she LOVES that blanket.
After dinner, we watched a movie on the couch and she was
very snuggly! She's been out three times on the leash since
you dropped her off--I think she's getting better on it
already. She's so social--if there's a person walking down
the sidewalk, she's all about going up to say hello! She
hasn't associated being outside with going to the bathroom
yet, but this will come! Occasionally she seems nervous and
trembles, but I imagine that's just the change. If those
pictures that you took yesterday came out ok, would you mind
emailing them to me? I'd love to see them!
Thanks for everything!
Nicole Day
update 5/23/08:Hi
Kerri, She will be fine with time. We had an interesting
night last night...still trying to figure out her potty
habits! After a half an hour walk outside on the leash with
me, she went inside and had an accident; when Liam took her
out later, she went just fine! Cutest thing happened...we
decided to see if she would like sleeping on our bed...she and
Daphne were each curled up at the end of the bed--so cute.
When I woke up, Char was sleeping under the covers by my
knees!!! I think she's starting to feel safer already...she
follows us around the house and likes to watch me cook in the
kitchen! One quick question I forgot to ask...has she been
treated with any kind of flea/tick prevention (ie frontline)
that I should be keeping up with?
Thanks!
Nicole
update 6/5/08:Hi
Kerri, I have some great news: we had our first day without
accidents! I just wanted to pass on our progress--very
exciting to us. I still keep forgetting to send
pictures...I will someday (my entire family wants some,
too)! Thanks again for everything! We are so happy with
Char's personality and the entire adoption process.
Cheers,
Nicole
UPDATE 7/3/08:Hi Kerri! 'm so sorry I haven't
written back--I was traveling for work in Atlanta last
week and am just now catching up on my "real" life.
I have a great Chardonnay update! She has gone 6 days
without an accident and we don't have to take her outside
every two hours! It just clicked for her all of the
sudden! We love her energy level and her personality.
Every day with her is a pleasure. Daphne is still
changing as well...just a couple of days ago, she did some
play fighting with Char. (At least I hope it was play
fighting!) Daph still has moments where she'll hide in a
corner if she doesn't get enough attention, but hopefully
that will stop. My neighbor, Joe, who has also adopted
dogs, said it took one of his dogs about four months to
adjust to the new pet, so who knows?! And, alas, all of
the pictures are still on my camera. There have been some
great ones...just last week, I took some pictures of Char
attacking the comforter on my bed. She bites it, growls
and pulls it around! No worries about missing the
fundraiser! It was a great night! Everybody who attended
had fun--the animals were such great entertainment. The
gorillas especially!
Nicole
1/08/09:Hi Kerri, It is so great to hear from you.
Franklin is adorable in his holiday gear!! I had a Santa
hat for Daphne that she would never wear; I tried it on
Char this year and she didn't want any part of it either!
The girls are doing so well together--they are truly
friends at this point. We went to my mother's house in
upstate NY for Christmas...Mom has a chocolate lab and
Char just dominates her. It really is funny to watch her
play alpha with a dog 10 times her size! I (of course)
only have the most recent pictures on my phone (and not at
work)! Are you boarding any other dogs at this point?
How are things at Yorkies Inc? Cheers, Nicole
Update 12/21/09
Hi Kerri,
Thank you so much for checking in! It was great to get your email. I hope you're doing well and have had a great 2009.
The girls are amazing. Daphne is going to be 12 this spring--hard to believe. We've had to make some adjustments to her medications (now for the heart murmur and arthritis) this year, but she's doing so well now. She and Char are great together. Every week there seem to be new things they find to do together. Char keeps her young and I really think that Chardonnay learns a lot from her! When Char is tired, she goes into the second bedroom and takes over the futon. We've named the room "Char's room"--Daphne started joining her last week! A sign that they like each other's company more than ours? It was adorable. We also found the greatest groomer this year...Doggie Styles on Neponset Ave. If you ever know of anybody who is looking for a new one, I highly recommend Trudy. Char actually gets excited to be there!
I just looked at the site and saw Sydney--what a gorgeous little girl! I just made a small donation on the site--thanks for reaching out to me. Always happy to support Yorkies Inc when we can. I'll never be able to donate enough to cover all of the happiness that Char has brought us!
Your boys are adorable! Thanks for the picture. I don't have any to send from my work computer, but I have some great action shots of Char playing at home! Happy holidays to you, too!
Cheers,
Nicole (Liam, Daph, and Char)

Ferguson

Ferguson is just a love. He is a little bundle of energy. I
forgot what it was like to have a puppy around. We decided to
keep Ferguson as his name because he looks like a Ferguson,
very regal. But ... Don't
let the name fool ya. He is all endless energy and love. He
loves our shoes so much that we bought him his own Croc shoe
toy. What does he do, puts his shoe in the shoe basket and
takes another. He loves to steal a shoe or something from the
laundry, come over to you, growl and run away to play chase
me. We NEVER catch him, he runs so so fast. He mastered the
stairs in just a day. He started puppy class and in just two
weeks and one class has learned to sit, look at me when
prompted and will lie down if he isn't too excited. He enters
his pen if you go to it and say "in". Of course, treats
help. He loves car rides and no matter how late he goes to
bed, he just likes to wake up early. I have managed, on most
days to get him to sleep past 6:00 a.m. He gives a little yip
and if that doesn't work, barking always does. He has so much
character, he looks at you with one ear up and one down. His
favorite toy is Mackenzie and Taylor is always good for a
cuddle. The girls just love him. He has been on the slide
and in the kiddie
pool. He had his first play date on Memorial Day with 8
yorkies. How fun. His favorite friend was Maisey. He loves
everybody and we love him. Good call Keri. He is perfect for
us.

Rudy now Oliver

Oliver (l) w/ Sharon & Lyla (r)
Oliver (Olie) is doing well. He hadn't coughed in 2 days but
I did hear him cough once this morning. He is playing with
Lyla (when she lets him). We put up a fenced in area on the
side of our backyard with the garden fence like you had talked
about and now they are running around playing ball at least
twice a day. Oliver still stops to sniff each dandelion,
buttercup and violet that he can find once he has done
his business. He loves he crate and when I can't find him he
is usually in Lyla's crate playing with her toys all alone.
He is going to puppy training classes and loves socializing
with other puppies. He loves to cuddle at night and sleep on
my lap. He is wonderful little boy. I wanted to thank you
both for being so wonderful to Rudy/Oliver, he has had a rough
start at life. Thank you for your dedication.
Joe & Sharon Teixeira
UPDATE 7/16/2008:Hi
Cathie & Kerrie, Just an update on Oliver (Rudy), I think he
finally gets it (house training). He is going to the door
most of the time and having fewer accidents. He is doing
well and has been nicknamed “Munchin” by my husband. I
loves to play but will cuddle up at night while I am
watching TV. He loves his daily walks through the
neighborhood and wants to greet every child that he sees. I
was also wondering if you know of a good place to board Lyla
& Oliver. We are planning a family vacation early next year
and I need a good no a great place for them. I hate to leave
them. If you know of any place, please let me know. Thanks
again,
Sharon
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE JOY OLLIE HAS BROUGHT US THIS YEAR!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS !! FROM THE TEIXEIRA FAMILY

Frebb
now
Gilly

Hi
Cathie, My mom really likes her dog and she is totally pampering
him, also I just wanted to ask you a few things, Is it normal
for Frebb to shake often , do small dogs do that? He also
sleeps often, and is VERY quiet, and seems very shy (which is
great for my mom, but is this normal for him? did he have a
rough life before?) And did he have a outside routine before
when he needed to go? Any helpful suggestions would be great! We
think he is SO cute and was a great match for my mom
Thanks
Cathy
UPDATE 5/15/08:He has got to be the most low key dog in the
world! Once in awhile he will roll over on the couch and move
his front paws in a "playing " gesture! But he follows my
mother EVERY WHERE in the house- He does still try to hide
against things ( we don't know if he is afraid still) But I
must admit , I do not think he would be treated better and
SPOILED by anyone more so than my mother, she carries him all
around the house , rubs and scratches him on the couch, talks
to him, he sleeps in her room,
she takes him for walks (carries him) outside to get fresh and
and sun, sits with him on the deck swings, and at times , he
even comes with us shopping! He is RARELY ever alone. We are
even taking him on our trip to NH ( my mom has a time share)
So as you can see , he and my mother are in love!
Take Care
Good Nite!

Rusti

Cathie, My husband and I
just adore Rusti. He has brightened out life with his sweet
little ways. The second day we had him, I had to go out for
a few hours and when I got home my husband said, "this dog
is just awesome". He loves to sit next to me on the couch
or next to my husband on his chair. He keeps jumping back
and fourth to get attention from both of us. We have a
little bed for him and when we tell him it is time for bed
he goes right in and sleeps all night. Rusti is just so
wonderful. He loves to take rides and behaves very well.
So I take him as much as I can. My sister has a dog, Lily
and we took them both to the beach for a walk. He was so
tired after that, that he sleep the whole ride home. Rusti
is a great walker for such a little guy. So between my
husband, my daughter and myself, he gets lots of walks. I
feel this is important for Rusti as he needs to develop more
social skills with other individuals and dogs. But we are
working on this. We love Rusti very much as he has become
an important part of our lives.
Thank you for Rusti,

Samantha
now
Pixie
5/4/08: Cathie, She already has her nickname - she's our little
"pixie." I swear her eye look even better today - probably just
wishful thinking. She is very affectionate - her little doggie
kisses are so funny with her crooked tongue. Thank you for
sharing her with us, and thank you so much for the little lives
that you have saved and made better,
Joanne
Update 5/9/08:Hi Cathie, Samantha is now known as Pixie! She
responds to her name - no trauma
involved in the name change. She is the sweetest little girl,
and she is doing so well! She loves to jump up on the couch and
sit with her grandma, and she loves to sleep close to Mimi. She
is a real "lap dog."
You would never know that she has only been with us for a week -
she gets so excited when one of us comes in. Her bark is so
funny. She is always making us laugh. Her eye looks great!
It isn't swollen anymore. It looks like her other eye.
Occasionally, it will film up a bit. My sister is doing a
fantastic job of making sure she has artificial tears during the
day -probably about once an hour. What a difference it has
made! Could you possibly email the picture of her that is on the
Website to
us? We'd love to have a copy.
Thank you so much for our new little girl.
Joanne Eddy
Update: Cathie, Just wanted to let you know Pixie had her
stitches out last night and is doing fine. They loved her at
the vet's office. She's a wonderful and funny little lady. She
gets so excited when people come in. She jumps on them and
gives them big kisses with that silly tongue of hers.
Thanks again for thinking of us when you got her.

Matteson
Hi Cathie, hard to believe we've had Matte over a week. We are
getting to know one another, but not with out some miner
problems. He does not let me out of his sight for a minute and
when I do leave, he cries, barks, and runs all over looking
for me. I'm nervous about leaving him alone, can you give me
some hints regarding this. This am he started pulling the
stuffing out of his bed, when I reached down to stop him he
snarled and snapped at me!! I said NOOO and that ended that. I
have the sense he may have been neglected in the past. Saw the
vet last week. she found the anal glands were full and drained
them .Also tenderness in R knee cap put him on Glycoflex. I am
feeding Natures Variety Prairie chicken meal& brown rice,
Well despite the above problems we are very happy with him .He
is so lovable & very smart. I am confident this will all work
out in time.....I hope to get some pictures & Happy Tails
story out to you soon...... Joan Halpin
update 5/5/08:
Hi Cathie, I misplaced your e-mail address or you would have
heard from me sooner. Matte is adjusting quite well to our
home . He loves every one he meets and vise-versa. Tom is
really warming up to him, matte loves to sit on his lap. THANK
GOD...He is one lovable boy I am so happy he is mine. I will
try to get you a pic soon for happy tails, I have no glue on
doing this, my son is our computer quiz.. Joan

Update 2/6/08: Hi
Cathie, I wanted to update you on our precious little Matte,
he is the love of our life. He is a loveable, playful ,happy
boy and has settled quite nicely into our routine. He is
eating strictly organic foods and has a voracious appetite.
He has learned how to play with toys and throws them all over
the living room. Our grandson Ryan (14yrs) and Matte are
definitely "best buds", he loves to run with Matte on his
walks and play with his various favorite toys with him. Matte
listens to his clarinet practices and shares snacks with him
(if allowed) on the coach. Matte has the life of a king,
sleeping in our bed, snuggling with me while I have my morning
coffee and going for long walks with either myself, Nate our
wonderful dog walker, or my daughter Karen's family. He takes
a nap while I read my novel in the afternoon and then gets
excited when it's time to go for a car ride to p/u Ryan at
school. His anxiety is much better now because he finally has
trust that we love him and will never leave him. Thanks again
for the opportunity to love a little dog again, it was the
best decision I made, he brings us such joy!
Take Care,
Joan & Ted Halpin

Gretsky is living large at a B&B in the Berkshires. His new
owner is undergoing Chemo treatments and
apparently Gretsky will not leave his side, which is very
comforting. They had a trainer come over and teach them how to
make Gretsky more comfortable with new guests. And I told them
how to introduce new dogs so that everyone gets along. At our
last update everyone was very pleased. And everything was going
very well. Sue fostermom |

Ben

Ben
(l) w Don & Toby (r)
Dear Cathie, We all just love Ben!! Ben is such a good boy, he
really is very smart as you said. Toby and Ben are doing just
fine I think they will be best buddies, as you can see. Ben is
adjusting here fine and we are giving him all the love and
attention he needs, he is a good boy!! He goes to the vets on
Thursday and we have a groomers appointment Friday as well. We
will keep you posted, and Ben is working out well with us I'm
sure its just a formality after Bens Drs. appt, you can cash
the check. I meant to ask you, did you see the numbers on
Bens belly, what does that mean? And do you think Ben was
abused? He is very, very, scared and very skittish and so
nervous over everything, he ducks when we were throwing him the
ball as if we were going to hit him. Its really sad if that was
the case. We love him and we will reassure him everyday that he
is loved and things will be okay!! Here are a few Pictures of
Ben & Toby. Thank you, Cathie and Ill be talking to you again!!
Don Merrer
3/27/08:
Hi Cathie, I just wanted to let you know Ben got a clean bill
of health today. My vet was having lots of fun pulling the
stitch out from when Ben was neutered. Ben was squirming and
turning with me holding him, it was quite comical. Ben also
got a nice haircut and looks very handsome. Ben is a very good
fit for us and we are so happy to have given a beautiful dog a
great home. He will not regret it and neither will you. Thanks
Don
Update 7/3/08:Hi Cathie, I just wanted to give you an
update on Ben. He has come a long way when we first got him
he was up constantly during the night and was always running
around unsure of what was going on. Now he is a great
sleeper as good a sleeper as we have had even thou when he
stretches out there's a lot less of the bed for me and my
wife. He has the run of the house when we are home and seems
to be very happy. He is crated for a couple of hours in the
morning right now, after I go to work and Debbie comes home
and lets him out. He likes to put anything in his mouth that
he can get a hold of and with his long legs I was surprised
what he could reach but we have all adjusted. One question I
do have for you is he has a bad habit of eating his stool if
we do not see it can you suggest a product that we can buy
that may help with this problem. When we first got him he
even vomited it up after one episode. That being said he is
a good dog and has helped fill a void that we had in our
lives. He is very good with Toby but can not figure out why
Toby does not want to run and play with him. He hunches his
back and looks like he wants to pounce on Toby and Toby
just keeps walking away. One thing he does that is quite
funny we have squirrels in the backyard and when Ben is let
out he stalks and looks just like a cheetah stalking a
gazelle in Africa he never catches them and starts looking
in the trees like where did they go. I am sure when Tobys is
not with us anymore we will be looking for a good match for
Ben.
Thanks again Don

Jerry now Brody

Hi Cathie, How are you? Just a quick Hi (I will be calling you
tomorrow) to tell you how Jerry (who's name is now and will
forever be BRODY) is doing amazing. I planned on sending you
some beautiful pictures that we have taken of him, however, I
didn't realize I did not put the memory card in my daughter's
camera, since it was in my other daughter's, why I don't know,
anyway I could not transfer the pictures on my computer to
send you. Of course I had some beautiful ones of him and his
sister, Bailee actually napping together.
Brody is one of the best things that has happened to our
family, I can honestly say in a long time. He is now racing
around the house ( I think he owns it now) and we went
"shopping" when Bailee was getting groomed and we are now a
full fledged "camo" dog....collar, leash, identification bone
tag, vest, toys...with a rhinestone tank just ordered
custom-made with a king's crown and BRODY on it...and a new
jacket....so I think it is safe to say, he is being treated so
good that every kiss he gives( which there have been a
Million) gives me the impression how happy he is with his new
family. He is still sleeping beside me and there have been NO
ACCIDENTS!!!
Thank you so much again for giving me and the girls
something so very special to share our love with, and I know
he knows how much we do love him. I will call you
tomorrow to talk to you....Hope you and John had a wonderful
Easter!!!! Thanks so much again,

Annie Allen
10/11/08:Hi Cathie, It was really nice to hear from you as
well....I was heartbroken by Posey's story and she is in our
prayers for a full recovery. I wish I could have donated
more...but I hope it can help. Brody is doing amazing, he
is such a happy boy and we love him so much. he is so at
home and at ease with us and he has a wardrobe to die for!!!
(lol) I will absolutely send you some recent pictures...he
is such a love and my family and I cannot thank you enough
for placing him with us... Take care and many prayers for
Posey, Annie

Rocky

Cathie, He is the best Easter bunny anyone could have gotten in
their Easter basket. He is a love bug. In one week he made it
easier to deal with the loss of our beloved Krizi. And he to
will be loved as much. I also want to thank you for all your
hard work and dedication to find these dogs a happy home. This
is the second time you have made us have happy home again.
Many Hugs to you
Sue Tonge
update 4/16/08:Cathie,
Here's rocky in his pj's. That is not one of his bones he stole
that out of my sisters dog Abby toy basket that she keeps here
for her when she comes down. He has nylon bones. But that's one
of his defiant moments try to take it from me. He is very bossy.
Needless to say I have one of those water spray bottles. I saw
how it worked for you everyone froze in their tracks. P.S. He
doesn't wear those to bed he was modeling them. The pjs were my
sisters dog Toby. He was small and she wanted to see if any of
his jackets and things would fit Rocky. Many hugs from me and

Beckett

Hi Kerri, Things here are going well....each day gets better!
Beckett and Kenzie seem like they are getting along better
each day! Kenzie likes to antagonize Beckett at times since he
can't do stairs and she can. But he's really taken to me :)
Although she's teaching him some bad tricks and when he should
bark....so he's had his voice heard a couple of times! I made
an appointment for his physical and to get the stitches out on
Tuesday night. With the Rabies vaccine info does that also
tell him the date of his last other shots? Incase they ask and
need to know what he needs to get. He's been doing good and
eats A LOT! :) I think he's skinnier than Kenzie so we need to
fatten him up a bit :). Anyhow, Just wanted to send along a
hello. I now have two dogs that LOVE me! :) Beckett's still
taking to Dan but coming along nicely! How's everything else?
I also have met Zoe who had a litter with Beckett before
coming in to Yorkies Inc!
Christina, Dan, Kenzie and BeckettUpdate 1/3/09:Hi
Kerri, Yes I was hoping to be at the Dec meet up but I am
pregnant so things have been kind of off lately :) I am
hoping to be at Jan's though definitely! Happy New Year to
your pups also!! Beckett went to see the dermatologist and
they put him on a med 2x/day for 8 weeks...we go back Jan 12th
to see how it's going. Nothing came back and the vet thinks
maybe it's an alopecia type situation which could be from
maybe vaccines or something. If they feel like he didn't
improve then they may do a biopsy. I'm hoping they don't have
to :( We have to look into getting some dental cleaning work
done on him......any suggestions, otherwise I will probably
just do SSAH since we go there anyhow. Did you get a chance to
see Noelle? (Faye) My Mom/Dad adopted her and she is the
CUTEST little pup! :) She's adorable!!!! Franklin in his
Frosty is SO cute!
Hope all is well,
Christina

Max

CASH THE CHECK! One week 4 hours and 20 minutes...and they are
playing like 2 puppies (for the last 30 minutes they have been
rolling around on the floor with each other and running from
room to room at lightening speed....I just took a ton of
pictures. Teddy is actually mouth breathing and his tongue is
sticking way out (I have never seen him exert himself this much
for anything, even to chase a cat!) but he keeps trying to
entice Max...so just when I think they are done, they take off
again. THIS IS AWESOME. I honestly didn't think it was going to
happen.
I'll
send photos tomorrow!!
Karen Bartolomei
UPDATE 2/13/2008:Max is fully on the pee pads now, even while
he's playing, he'll stop, drop the toy and run into the pee
pad to go and then run back out to resume playing. He still
refuses to go outside, as you said, he is too busy sniffing
and checking out noises to go. He's easily distracted. But,
hey, the pee pads are easy and convenient! He hasn't had a
single accident since our last email. Only thing is, we have
had to retrain Peanut to go on the pads because he hates the
smell of Max's pee and won't go near the pads anymore, so once
Max was trained on the pads, Peanut started to go all over the
house again...yikes!
Every night, at 8pm and around midnight, the 2 of them (Ted
and Max) go nuts running and playing for a half hour or more.
If Max stops Teddy taunts him and if Teddy stops Max taunts
Teddy, so it's hysterical! (I knew Teddy was playful, but I
had no idea just how much until now!) And a wonderful thing
has started to happen with Peanut too...because Peanut doesn't
want to play and hates when Max and Teddy get near him while
they play, he has started to come back up onto the bed again
to get away from them and to be close to me for safety! He is
also spinning around me to let me know he wants to be carried
more! While I am writing this to you, Peanut is laying between
my legs on the bed!!!! This hasn't happened for almost a
year! We love Max, he's just the perfect fit for our family.
Thank you so much!!!!!
Karen Bartolomei
Update7/4/08:Hi! I
just handed in my manuscript to Random House this past week
for my book coming out in the spring of 2009, and wanted to
send you guys an update. "Miracle Max" is probably the nicest
dog I have ever encountered. He is fearless and when dogs
don't like him, it doesn't get him down, he kisses them and
rolls over on his back to try to make them happy. He just
keeps coming back for more attention and tries in different
ways to entice each dog to play with him endlessly. If kisses
don't work, he playfully bites their bums, if that doesn't
work he brings a toy over as a peace offering. His positive
attitude has rubbed off on both of our special needs
guys...Teddy trusts new people much more seeing Max run up to
them for a nice pat on the head, and Teddy also walks so much
faster to keep up with Max. They still play together on a
regular basis...just about 4 times a week the two of them play
for hours running back and forth through the house, and
playing tug of war with toys. When I take Max on errands in
the car, he and Teddy
run to each other lick each other on the face the moment we
get back...so cute! He's a solid 6 pounds now and can really
give Teddy a run for his money! Max has had the most profound
affect on Peanut, who is now sleeping in the bed all day and
all night ("Nutty" had a phobia of being on the bed for a year
and a half and would run and jump off frantically every time
we tried to put him on the bed) and Peanut now wants to be
held by me all the time (he used to run away if you attempted
to pick him up and once in your arms, he would kick violently
until you put him down) little Peanut just lays in my arms and
licks my neck, it's so sweet. Another thing that Max has done
is provide Peanut with a dog to follow on walks. Before we had
Max, Peanut refused to walk. He would just stand and stare at
you like a statue until you picked him up (I let him do it one
day for 15 minutes and he never took a step no matter how much
I called coaxed or ignored him) He trots along next to me and
Max for our half hour walks in the morning and after
dinner...and is a much happier dog, his little tail wags back
and forth like a Grandfather clock...we call it a "tick-tock
tail"....so much improvement for little Peanut who has severe
neurological damage and not much muscle control. The three of
them LOVE our beach house in East Sandwich. We take them out
for 2 hours every day on the weekends when the tide goes all
the way out because the sandbar is HUGE and they run back and
forth chasing seagulls and rolling in crab shells. Max is a
water dog too...as I said before, he is completely
fearless...he actually swims in the ocean at low tied to chase
the live crabs and fish he can see under the shallow water or
the seagulls floating just off shore! He'd probably swim to
China if we didn't pull him back with the leash!! He loves to
chase birds, bugs, rabbits, other dogs, squirrels...anything
that breathes. He and Bob have really bonded, they go for
coffee every morning and then Max hangs out with Bob while he
gets ready for work. When we are down the Cape for the week,
Bob takes him for 6 to 10 walks a day and Max never gets
tired! He goes and goes all day but when he naps, he becomes a
floppy dog, head and paws just turn to jello when you pick him
up. I let his ear hair grow long and his ears flop over
now...so even his ears are floppy! When he runs they bounce up
and down and make him look even sillier. He also hangs out in
the window for hours watching people and cars go by and he
watches TV too...it's funny to see him tilt his head when he
watches movies with us. He loves to give kisses to EVERYONE,
dogs and people and he does it with so much excitement you
can't stop laughing, and the more you laugh the crazier he
gets with kisses and jumping...he is a ham too, if you
playfully push
him, he falls over and rolls over a few times on his back and
then crawls toward you with his back legs stretched out to try
to chew on your hands...and he bounces from bed to footstool
to chair like a piece of popcorn if you chase him...he's just
silly and happy all the time. What a great little guy. Thanks
so much again!
Karen, Bob, Teddy, Peanut and Max

Update 1/5/09: So funny you should email me because I was just
thinking about you guys! Bob and I have been backing up all of
our video of the boys over the last 3 days and I said to
him..."We're going to make a video for Cathie and Kerri and
send it to them this month"...we have so many fun routines we
do with them
throughout the day and I wanted to share them with you guys
because you would not believe how far Peanut has come since we
got "Miracle Max." Plus we have really cute videos of them at
the Cape on the beach and in the woods at the Christmas tree
farm this past fall. Max is the most amazing little dog. He
does this thing we call the "bed shark" where he dives under
the bed covers at the bottom of the bed, climbs all the way up
the bed and attacks us from under the covers. I have never met
a sweeter happier guy (even my Stormy was not as sweet as
Max). He's always in a good mood. When he's not on the beach
finding crabs, he loves to
lay in the Cape cottage window and watch the seagulls and bugs
fly by. And he has really brought Peanut out of his
shell...Peanut has watched Max and followed his lead on
everything and is now the dog I always hoped he'd become (but
I never really thought he could because of his neglect)...he
likes to snuggle with me, he comes when I call him, he runs
after me at the park on our walks, he marks the pee spots that
Max makes at the park just like a healthy dog, he lets me pet
him forever without running away, and even spins in circles
much less...I sent you pics of the 2 of them...Teddy is doing
great too and still plays with Max every day. They are great
friends! (I attached some pics of them playing together) Send
me your mailing address and I'll send you a DVD of the
guys...The book is on it's last review before going to print
(it will be in stores July 7th but is available for advance
purchase at Amazon and Borders now...it's called "Paperie for
Inspired Living" and it comes up right away in a google
search...pretty cool huh? I attached the promo from the Random
House catalog so you can see some pictures and the book cover.
I have been checking on the website a lot to see the new dogs
and I was wondering if you were fostering any of them...that
little Posey is a DOLL...and I told Bob the other day that I
wanted Emerson...because of Peanut, I really have a soft spot
for dogs with
neurological problems now. Send me updates, I'd love to hear
them...and happy new year to you too!

Millie
Hi
Sue, Just wanted to update you on Millie. She is doing just
fantastic. We love her to death and couldn't be happier. She did
great on her first "holiday". I had about 25 people for diner on
Sunday and she loved every minute of it. Isn't crazy about other
dogs but it's not really a factor around here. She has done
terrific with training. As long as we keep her on her routine
she does great. I still have to get you a picture of her and my
girls. Now that the warmer weather is here we will taking lots
of walks. Hope things are well with you and thanks for
everything!

Charlie

Dear
Sue and Cathie,
I'm sorry it's taken so long for me to write but I wanted to
make sure things worked out first. I was kind of sad at first
and missed my other family. They were very good to me and I
loved them a lot but they knew I could make another family happy
and maybe my new family would be able to spend more time with me
since they work at home. I'd like to thank you for placing these
people with me, if ever a need for a dog existed it was in this
family (would you believe they had birds and thought that was
enough!!!!!). In the beginning it was touch and go since they
had never lived with a dog before but pretty soon they figured
out the important commands like feed me, walk me and pottytime.
I'm glad there are two of them though because the lady is pretty
good at most things but the guy is GREAT at napping, he must
have been a dog in another life. When I got here the weather was
warm and we were out all the time, when it got cold I was
worried that they wouldn't take me out as much but the lady made
me some great clothes and we play outside as long as I want. We
even got to play in the rain the other day when it was warm. In
addition to playing in the yard I go to the beach almost every
weekend, that's the best, the smells are wonderful. In addition
to the guy and the lady I have a Newfoundland boyfriend named
Roufus next door and four girlfriends named Butterfly, Ladybug,
Ivy and Holly, who I get to play with and even sleep over
sometimes. They have really great people who are the best at all
the important things. Thanks again for helping people like these
find dogs to make their lives better.
Take care,

Roxie

Roxie, Linda & Riley
Hi
Cathie:We are all getting along very nicely! Riley and Roxie
are so funny together, like a real brother and
sister. Sometimes when they "play" together, he gets a little
rough, but she can hold her own. Roxie is the best dog. It's
nice to see what a normal dog should be like (our Riley is so
neurotic compared to Roxie). I hope it doesn't rub off on
her! Thanks for choosing us to adopt Roxie! We LOVE her so
much, she's such a little lady. She loves to give cuddles and
kisses, we call her our "kissy-bug". She's so good when I
vacuum, and she's gotten so much better at coming when she is
called. She still is not waking me up to go outside in the
middle of the night though. I think her crate is too big and
she has room, so she goes in one end of it. So I think I'll
get her a smaller crate. Other than that, she knows she's
supposed to go out to do her "business".
I
still have yet to schedule a vet appt. we have been soooo
busy! It's on my list of things to do for next week.
Thanks for the update on the Nutro foods, wow... not good.
We have decided to stick with the Wellness food. We found a
place in Sharon that sells it. Riley loves it too!
I would love to make the play date, we can't wait!

Andrew

Sean
w/Jaxon & Andrea w/ Andrew
Hi Kerri, Well it’s been a busy day! Jaxon and Andrew have
played tons, chased each other around the house and even had a
nap together. Things are going great and he’s settling in very
nicely. I’ve attached a few pics from today. Thanks again for
choosing us for Andrew’s forever home.
Update:
Both Jaxon and Andrew have been sleeping a ton today. I think
they wore themselves out yesterday. I have a little round bed
with a heating pad in it – Andrew has been in there for awhile
now! We’ve had the belly band on him since we got home – he
lifted his leg right away so we figured it was best. He’s been
going out every time Jaxon does and hopefully will get the idea
soon enough. He’s had a few poop accidents but they’re easy to
clean up. J
I think once he’s into a routine there won’t be any problems.
I’ll be sure to keep in touch and send you pics too. We
absolutely adore Andrew already. Andrea
Update 2/20/08: It’s hard to believe that Andrew has only been
with us for one week. He has settled right in and seems very
happy. Jaxon is learning to share with Andrew and they play
more together each day. He’s getting better at going outside
and we expect he’ll learn to ring the bell in no time. Attached
are some pics from this past week – they are getting quite
snuggly and often sharing a pillow or doggy bed – very cute.
Hope to see you and your guys again soon.
Andrea

Update 3/4/08:Hi Kerri,
It has been 3 weeks since we picked up Andrew and things
could not have gone any better. He seems extremely
happy and is having lots of fun with Jaxon. They are
great buddies and seem to really enjoy each other.
Andrew hardly wears the belly band now and is getting
very good at going outside. Sorry my pics are somewhat
fuzzy – I’m planning to buy a new camera. ’m slowly
getting the hang of doing his top knot and finally got
some good elastics that stay in! Sunday is always bath
day and we’ve figured out a ‘system’ for getting them
both done.
2 things I wanted to ask you – the tattoo on his belly –
do you know what that represents? Looks like this
birthday and something else. Also our check hasn’t been
cashed and just wanted to make sure there weren’t any
issues. We plan to attend one of the Boston Meet Ups
this month – likely the regular group although it looks
like the date changed. We’ll definitely be at the
Yorkies Inc. event in April. Hope all is well with you
and your guys. See you soon.
Andrea
Note: Andrea &
Sean had their application in to adopt for many months
patiently waiting for the right pup to become available. When
Andrew was gifted to us by top Yorkie breeder Ava Tyree they
asked to be considered. He went on many home visits to be sure
we had found his perfect match. We had many nice applications
but Andrew is the one who chose them! He instantly loved his new
brother Jaxon! We thank Ava Tyree for her very generous gift of
Andrew to raise our funds and also to Sean and Andrea for being
so patient and for the adoption donation. |

Woobie

Rich
w/Sadie & Jody w/Woobie
You are
looking at one truly joyful and happy family. My husband Rich
and I have been together for 13 years. As Rich's youngest
daughter Deb went off to college, Rich was left with an
emptiness that I knew could only be filled by the love and
companionship of a dog. I surprised Rich with Sadie-Louise when
she was pup. I had chosen her to become part of our family from
her birth. Now as a seasoned 8 year old, we very much wanted to
find Sadie a companion. Frankly, we are dog lovers and always
wanted to add to our family. Raising a Yorkie has been a real
joy. Sadie's small stature and enormous personality has
contributed to the quality of our lives in innumerable ways.
Rich surfs the web quite a bit. He found the Yorkie Inc.
website. We were soon devotees and knew that we would soon be
adopting when the right companion for Sadie came along. Any of
you following the site knows the plight of Remy. We contributed
to his surgery and I thought he might be the one, but as he
blossomed back to health, it became clear that he was too full
of spunk for Sadie... and then came Woobie. Woobie “Maxwell
Abrams-Rosenstein is 4 pounds of pure love. We adopted him eyes
open. He had been badly neglected, no teeth, tongue hanging
out, arthritic little legs that carry him with the swagger of a
hermit crab, and piercing little Gund-style teddy-bear eyes and
a personality as big as all outdoors. We were smitten... all of
us. Sadie and Woobie get along as if they have been together
all of their lives. Woobie is hilarious. He is willing to share
himself with us. We were thanked by the folks at Yorkie's Inc.
for considering a senior, but I think it's important for anyone
considering adopting a Yorkie to know several things; 1.) The
smaller the breed, the longer the life – an older dog will live
a lifetime, 2.) An older dog is seasoned -they have an
established personality and this makes them interesting and
incredibly, incredibly wonderful, 3.) Woobie himself has been an
incredible gift -full of life, love, and the pursuit of more
love. We have been very grateful for everyday we've had the
pleasure of including Woobie as part of our family. We are
happier, but most importantly, Sadie is happier. We will be
“forever family” members of Yorkie's Inc as well, as these folks
do a remarkable job. For anyone looking to adopt a Yorkie; it is
not how long any of us live, but rather, how well. If you bring
a seasoned Yorkie into your home, you will be rewarded with a
love and a pervasive joyful spirit that will fill your home and
your heart. Woobie appears to be enjoying life here with us. He
likes to travel and is looking forward to his upcoming summer
vacation at the Woof cottages in Nantucket. It's a dog's
life...and why not? You may think you are looking to save a
dog, but really, it is you who will be rescued.
Jody
Abrams
UPDATE 7/3/08:Cathie, I just ran across the
first email I ever sent you inquiring about Woobie. It was
the end of December of last year.... I can't tell you how
much we love that dog. He is a riot. He is beloved at dog
camp, where he and Sadie go twice a week... a decision that
we finally arrived at having attended your big event where
we got to see so many well behaved little dogs enjoying the
hell out of themselves.
We
continue to follow Yorkie's Inc. I know that Rich donated
recently to another dog who needed surgery. What you and
Sue do continues to amaze and inspire us. We feel so
incredibly lucky to have met you both (please forward this
to her as I cannot find her email address on my work
computer)I am hoping that before the summer you will indulge
us and come for brunch. We'd love to have you visit. Mr.
Woobie is doing wonderfully well. His favorite material as
it turns out is Chenille. My den couch is made out of the
stuff which is his favorite place to watch TV with Rich. He
also likes to curl up in bean bag pillows and eat steamed
carrots... and anything else he can get his little paws on
<grin>Recently we went to Nantucket. He had a fine time
there and did well with the ferry and marking the island.
He's been just a delight. Hope you'll be in touch. Best
Regards & Happy 4th
Jody Abrams
12/20/08: Dear Cathie, Best holiday wishes to both you and
Sue. We hope this note finds you both doing well. Rich and
I talk about you both often as we continue to celebrate our
lives with Mr. Woobie...God bless him..... he'll be with us
a year all ready in January. He is sitting on my lap while
I am typing this to you trying to get my calzone (NOT). He
is so much fun and such a love and he and Sadie remain fast
friends. They sleep
cuddled up together and enjoy one another's company. New
Year's eve we always go to the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge.
It's a dog friendly hotel. A couple of years ago, they
hosted a people and their pets New Year's party and ever
since people have returned to spend New Year's with their
dogs. We bring a scrabble board, rent a suite, and play
scrabble in the lobby by the fire. We can see the fireworks
that Boston shoots off for First Night from our room
and Sadie has always loved it. The windows are floor to
ceiling so she has a great view and the bed comes with a
faux mink throw that she likes to sleep on....Woobie will
probably love it too. We order Sadie scrambled eggs for
breakfast to celebrate the New Year....and Woobie will no
doubt love that too. Rich and I were watching an episode of
Dogstown last night on National Geographic. It was about
the value of elderly dogs and placing them. We just LOVE
Woobie. Adopting him was the best decision we made
in 2008. He has enriched our lives beyond anything we could
have imagined. As you know we are big fans of yours and the
work that you do. We would like to make a holiday
donation. We hope it is helpful. We hope to see you both
soon at an event...but that brunch invite still stands!!!
All our best,
Jody & Rich
Update 7/24/09: Thank you so
much for the Yorkie Beach Party Cup Holders. We donate to
donate and do not require any little tokens
of appreciation...though they are cute! I have some food
and treats if you are in need that I would be happy to send
out if you give me an address that I can donate as well.
Rich, Sadie, Woobie and I just returned from Bretton Woods,
New
Hampshire where Woobie got his first real taste of extended
vacation in another state over a long car ride. Rich had a
law conference up there at the Mt. Washington Hotel. Woobie
only likes highway driving. Woobie likes to go very fast
and this for him, is like a tranquilizer dart gun and will
make him go to sleep quickly as if in a coma whereas Sadie
pops her head up periodically and asks "Are we there yet?"
The Mt. Washington Resort has many properties and dogs
cannot stay at the big hotel proper. We stayed at the
Bretton Arms Inn, which I thought I would hate, but it's
quite charming with a world class restaurant that serves the
best breakfast I have ever eaten anywhere. The Inn staff
went wild over Woobie, who already knows he's a rock star.
There were horses just outside the inn and Woobie decided
that he needed to let them know he was in charge. In fact,
when a group of riders was coming back in from the fields, I
was asked to pick Woobie up and bring him into the inn, so
as not to upset the horses further "just in case." Woobie
managed to scare off a Shetland Sheep/Poodle Mix, who was
only trying to say hello. One of my husband's partner's has
three little girls. They have a dog (beagle) and were
feeling a bit dog deprived, so they were happy to see Sadie
and Woobie. Now Woobie as you know, does not care much
for kids, but these girls scooped him up and hugged the
stuffing out of him. "Isn't he cute dad? He looks like a
Gund bear!" That dog's eye's began to twinkle and his
lashes began to bat and he got even more adorable and just
ate up the attention and I nudged Rich and I said, "Are you
looking at this?" And Rich said, "Yeah, I know, I can't
believe it either." Woobie went from rock star to full
on obnoxious. He looked at me as if to say, "Deal with it,
I'm Faaaabulous!" As it turns out, both dogs like that cool
mountain air, the feel of the soft clover beneath their
paws, the anticipation of scrambled eggs for breakfast, and
all the attention that comes with celebrity. We still get
the biggest kick out of him as we are asked ALL the
time where Woobie came from so we tell EVERYONE we can about
Yorkie's Inc. Even the head of housekeeping came up to our
room to check on things because she wanted to spend some
extra time with our dogs having a Yorkie at home herself.
She is thinking about a companion for her own dog, whom she
refers to as a "Yorkshire Terror" and talked about how she
loved the breed. How can you not. Well, Woobie and Sadie
had an extended weekend in Nantucket and we are going to the
Cape for a week in August, something we have not done with
them. I know it will be fun. As long as Woobie is with us,
he seems to be happy. I know that we continue to be
enriched by having him in our lives and never take a moment
for granted. Every day with Woobie is special. Please let
me know about the food/snacks. Again, the brunch invite
stands....
Best, Jody
Note:
Jody and Rich have found that adopting a senior like Woobie can
add so much. We try to match pups to the right home and we sure
did get a perfect match for Wobbie! Rich, Jody and their
yorkie Sadie-Louise have found the true joy of adopting to give
a pup a good home... only to find that he has added just as much
to their lives. We thank them for giving Woobie a chance! |

Remy
& Corky

Hi
Cathie! OK, so photography is not our specialty! I don't
think Wolf has EVER taken a good picture of me, but he
certainly can get a good picture of Remy(L) & Corky(R) and
that's what counts! They were both extremely patient while
having their picture taken and I think they both look very
happy and proud of themselves because they are such good
little dogs! BIG NEWS! Corky was playing with the lobster
toy tonight! I also gave her the little pink toy you sent
along and she was walking around with that for a while. I
don't think she is a fan of the "squeak" however - seemed to
startle her a little! I can't tell you how wonderful it is
coming home and being greeted by these two! They trip over
each other trying to give welcome home kisses! I think we'll
try again with the pictures - I was a little tired when this
was taken - but at least you can see everyone is doing just
great! Tina, Remy & Corky
Update 2/20/08:
Remy & Corky are doing absolutely GREAT! You would be so
pleased to see Remy - he looks better and healthier every
day. He just loves playing with his toys and now that we
have the wood floor in the living room he can really slide!
He is a little nut when he's playing and seems to be amusing
himself almost as much as Wolf and I. You just can't help
but laugh at him - he's so funny, but he's also so sweet and
lovable. Corky is also doing well - still following me
around and sitting on my lap or next to me in the chair.
She is starting to show some interest in toys - I gave them
each a Loofah dog tonight which of course Remy loved
immediately. Corky didn't pay much attention to it at first
but a little while ago she was walking around with one of
them - just like the ad on TV - holding it in her mouth
right in the middle of the toy. She is just a little
princess and really seems to love her new Mom very very
much. They are both doing excellent as far as the pee pee
pads - no more mistakes! They have also learned where the
Cheerios are - the other night Remy made a beeline from the
pee pee pad right out to where I keep the Cheerios! Very
smart little dogs, these two! They are both eating very
well and while I keep an eye on them during feeding times
Remy seems to know he can't have Corky's food - I still keep
them a bit separated while feeding - one on either end of
the kitchen.
Right now Remy is taking a short break from evening play
time and is curled up on Wolf's lap. Corky is in Remy's bed
- they sleep in each others beds from time to time during
the day. They are also sleeping very well at night - every
once and while they will bark when Wolf comes to bed (he is
up much later than I am!). Remy jumps in his crate before
Wolf has a chance to put his bed in! Corky always waits for
me to put her in bed but last night she knew it was time and
climbed in on her own. Not before kisses goodnight though!
Can you tell how great things are going and how happy
everyone is - most importantly that Remy and Corky are happy
and are adjusting to their new home very well. I can't
wait until it is nice outside so they can go out and get
some fresh air. We'll wait until it gets warm which up
here isn't until probably May! Thank you for calling me
tonight to keep in touch. Everything is going
perfectly! We are keeping an eye on Remy's hernia
which hasn't changed and certainly doesn't seem to bother
him at all! I hope you and your family are doing well.
I will give you a call in a couple days - I'm sure I'll have
some more funny stories to share with you by then!
Tina, Remy & Corky
Update: 2/20/08: Hi Cathie! Wolf and I will be bringing
Remy & Corky to the Yorkie Play Date! This sounds like it
is a lot of fun and we are both looking forward to it!
Remy is doing absolutely fantastic - you will be so
pleased when you see him! Corky is also doing great and
as beautiful as ever! I brought them to my office last
week to meet everyone I work with. I had to keep an eye
on both of them - I think everyone wanted to take them
home! They were so well behaved and friendly to
everyone! Remy of course wanted to wander off and
investigate everything - he actually leaped over a fairly
tall box to get out of my office! Corky was a little more
reserved but still a nice little girl! They both had fun
but were happy to come home - like their Mom! Corky still
doesn't play with toys much although every once and a
while she will walk around with one of the loofah dogs.
She is VERY good however at plucking things out of my
purse - the other night she managed to grab one of those
little kleenex packs and hustled off with it - right into
her sleeping crate! She also likes socks and if one lands
on the floor it's hers! Remy on the other hand plays with
all the toys and just has a ball! They don't do much
together yet although the other morning they were
"sharing" the carpet by the front door so they could both
lay in the sun! Of course Wolf and the camera weren't
home - I would have liked to have a picture of that scene!
I PROMISE sometime this week we'll take some pictures of
them - I'm very proud of both of them and so pleased how
well they are doing. I hope everything is good with your
family too!
Hugs from Remy, Corky and Tina
Update 5/2/09:Hi
Cathie, I am sorry but we won't be able to make the
Yorkie Play Date this year. Wolf is just not doing well
enough to make the trip and I wouldn't be comfortable
making the drive by myself. We are both disappointed as
we had a great time last year and were looking forward
to this years event. I did find the pictures plus we
took a few more to send you. I think you will be amazed
when you see Remy! He wasn't in the mood to "hold
still" today so these are the best we could do. The
pictures by our front door are from about 6 months ago.
They both had their grooming yesterday - the woman did a
great job with Remy but took way too much hair off Corky
for some reason. The poor little girl must have known
she was missing a lot of hair since she "hid" for a
while. I can't begin to tell you how much we both enjoy
Remy and Corky - not a day goes by that they don't do
something funny or incredibly smart! Corky is of course
still in charge but Remy doesn't seem to mind. He's in
charge of Wolf and I! I hope you enjoy the pictures - we
will be thinking of all of you having a great time
tomorrow.
Love, Tina

Note: Remy is our most recent Liver Shunt survivor! He was
with us for over 3 months during prep, surgery and post-op
care. While with us we had many well wishers and as you can
see he is doing fantastic! When we received the adoption
application from Tina U& Wolf they had just lost their Yorkie
and were heartbroken. During their home visit they decided
they didn't just want to adopt Remy but also another so he'd
have a buddy. That worked great because Remy had gotten very
use to having a few friends to play with while being fostered.
We had just taken in Corky and she was a nice match in size
and age. So this is a double Happy Tails!

Tina

Eileen lost her husband several months ago and shortly
thereafter she lost her yorkie. She was heartbroken. You
would have to meet Eileen to see that though the application
we received states she was 80 years old, she is very active.
Her attempts to adopt a Yorkie with other groups was
unsuccessful until we matched her up with Tina. Tina another
spry senior who doesn't act her 10 years either she is the
perfect companion for Eileen. When we were visiting with
Eileen her daughter came in the back door and Tina started to
bark. Eileen was thrilled to learn she was also going to have
a great watch dog. We hope that other seniors will be willing
to adopt our older dogs. We find that often times this is the
best match for all concerned.
~Sue
Dubrava-Tina's foster mom
Update: Hi Sue, just a note to let you know that
Eileen and Tina are a match made in heaven. Tina loves her
new back yard and chases squirrels! Eileen thinks that she's
already lost some weight. Eileen loves her so much, and we
just wanted you to know. The change has been enormous in
Eileen's outlook, she laughs at Tina's antics and says Tina
is more company than her old dog Willow.
Thank you again for bringing the two of them
together! Diane Harper and Eileen Cobb
Note: When Tina came into Yorkies Inc
we had her spayed and completely vetted as we do with all
our pups. At that time her full CBC bloodwork showed she was
in the early stages of Cushing's and needed to be put
on medication. Because Eileen had already met Tina and was
in love and wanted a pup so badly she committed to
adopting her regardless. We decided at that point that
Yorkies Inc
would remain responsible for Tina's continued veterinary
care and our "Seniors for Seniors Program" was official!
Her medications and testing will be paid for by
Yorkies Inc.
Eileen and Tina are our first " Seniors for Seniors"
pairing. We hope to continue this great program with other
seniors in the future. If you would like to help us in this
cause please use the PayPal button below. All friends to the
Seniors for Senior's Program will be listed below. Thank you

Tinker
& Tonka now Roxie & Raz
Hi Cathie, We wanted to send an update to let you know how
Roxie (Tinker) and Raz (Tonka) are doing. Here are some
pictures of them at play. You would never know that Raz only uses three legs. He does
not use his back left leg at all to walk but gets along just
great. There is no stopping this little guy. The doctor
feels that if the leg is not bothering him in any way that
he may keep it. He is a little love bug and a real gem.
As for Roxie, she had her surgery on Dec 21st on for her
right knee. We have continued with the follow up
appointments and the doctor is very pleased with the surgery
and how it is healing. She is doing very well but the hard
part is limiting her activity for eight weeks until her knee
fully heals. This little girl wakes up and wants to hit the
ground running! She is handling being kept quiet very well
but she sees her little brother running around and wants to
join in the fun. I know inside that little head of hers she
is saying "just wait little bro, just wait" :)).
We want to thank you for choosing us to adopt these two
precious little pups, they have brought a lot of joy into
our lives. The first time we joined the Yorkies Inc. family
was when we adopted Millie, a 10 year old senior dog, who
was rescued from a puppymill and had some health
issues. She is a love - very friendly and loves being
around people. Whenever our friends come over you can find
Millie cuddling up to them and sitting on their laps. I
have to say that people do not know what they are missing
out on when adopting a senior dog. They are very special
indeed. Thanks again, we look forward to seeing everyone at
this years YORKIE PLAY DATE!
Kathy and Linda
Note: Kathy and Linda had Nikki their first Yorkie for years
when they started looking into adopting. Their first was a
senior puppymill Yorkie named Anna and then came Millie
another Mill Yorkie through Yorkies Inc. Sadly, they lost
both Anna and Nikki recently within months of each other.
Millie was left alone for the first time in her life. Their
hearts were with the seniors but with the double
heartbreak they had just felt we really thought a couple
puppies would be a nice change. It had been years since they
experienced all the fun and trouble that comes with puppies
and they weren't sure they were up to it. But because these
two were so special needs we were able to convince them to
give these two a try. We can't thank them enough for
allowing these two specials to stay together through life.
We hope they bring Kathy & Linda many years of joy and
mischief!

Maverick
now
Henry

Kerri, Thank you for the great photo. We are doing very well. We
just love our little Henry. I took him for a walk today and
he did fine! He is starting to use his pee pee pad each
morning, and he sleeps through the night like a teenager. We
are so grateful to have this little boy. Alessyana and Bo
also stopped by today for a visit. That was great! All is
well, and I think that Henry is feeling more comfortable each
day. We
will keep in touch, Thanks again for our little boy.
Carol
Hi Kerri, Guess what?? Henry has been perfect for one week and one
day. We are so thrilled. I have a theory. I had been
using the pee pee pads in the hopes that I could train Henry
as an indoor dog. He had been mildly successful...probably
100 percent for peepee, and only 20% for poopoo. Anyway,
since I have been taking him on his daily walks, which he
loves, he seemed to be wanting to do it all then. So , for
the last 5 days, I have been walking him at 7 a.m., then at
lunch, then for a very long (3-4 mile) afternoon walk, and
then after dinner. RESULT-- Henry is wonderful...the
perfectly outdoor trained and happiest dog you can imagine.
I think that he must have been trained to eliminate outdoors
only. I was simply confusing him. Does this all make
sense? I am wondering now if the breeder had an outdoor pen
that he used. I hope all of this continues. I do appreciate
all the guidance and advice you have been giving to me, and
will continue to give you updates.
Fondly, Carol
1/5/09:Kerri, Thank you for the photo of Franklin. He is
adorable. We love Henry sooooo much. He turned out to be
a wonderful little boy. We cannot believe that we had him
for a year as of Jan. 2. Happy New Year to you and your
mom. Thanks again for Henry. Carol

Faith

(l)
Faith & Tiny (r)
Hi Kerri, We wanted to let you know how
Faith is doing and sending a picture of our two little girls
for "Happy Tails". Faith is on the left, Tiny on the right.
Faith has been with us for just over 2 weeks now and as you
can see from the picture fitting right in. Initially, she was
very timid and shy; she seems to be coming out of her shell.
She is wagging her tail at feeding time and barking when she
hears someone at the door. She is still learning how to go up
and down stairs. At first we were a bit apprehensive about
taking and older dog, but now we can't imagine being without
her. Faith likes walking around the neighborhood even more
than our other Yorkie Tiny. Faith sleeps in her own doggie
bed on the floor beside our bed. She hasn't had an indoor
accident, and has found her own special place in our yard to
do her business and she uses the weewee pad when we are at
work. Thank you Kerri for bringing Faith to us, she's joy.
She now has her forever and ever home.
Lauren & Robert
Note: Faith is
a 12 year old Yorkie that came in with another senior Woobie.
We thank Lauren and Robert for seeing Faith for the wonderful
little spirit she is and opening their heart and home to a
senior pup with much more life to live and love to give. We
are sure that Faith will change them forever. |
Simon

Simon (L)
Nicole & Chewie (R)
Hi Kerri, Simon is
doing very well, first night and full day went great and he is
adjusting quickly to Chewie, me and his new home. Chewie is
teaching him the ropes of rustling and it seems to be none
stop, the lets play dance is so cute and always gets Chewie
going! He is also taking great interest in toys, as I'm
writing he took "Mr. Skunk" up and the couch and is now
chewing on him beside me. Last night Simon slept in his crate
which I placed beside my bed with door open giving him the
option to be where he wished, he slept like a rock. As far as
the solid gold wee bites, he is gobbling them right down no
problems with the food at all. He also enjoys Chewies favorite
treats, carrots, which I think is terrific being such a
healthy alternative to biscuits. We worked on housetraining
all day today. The morning started off successful when first
time outside Simon peed. The rest of the day however, we went
outside several times and no action, lots of work to do there.
Simon is sure a lively character and loving companion, Chewie
agrees. Thank you again for everything you did for the
adoption of Simon as he seems to be such a good match for us I
can't imagine any boy more compatible! Thank you for the great
tote full of goodies too, what a thoughtful gift to send home
with adoptees. The toys are so cute and I didn't yet have
another harness so that was perfect, of course the matching
leash is wonderful too! The boys are now up on the couch
sleeping next to each other on a furry throw blanket, so cute.
I will keep you posted as things progress!
Update:
Simon is doing great! After that first night sleeping in the
crate, Simon has slept with me in bed every night, he is such
a love bug! When he is not following me around the house, he’s
either playing with toys, rastling with Chewie, curled up in
front of the wood stove or on the couch. Chewie seems to
really enjoy having a little brother! They sometimes curl up
next to each other for a nap, it’s so cute. They don’t have
any problems finding a spot on my lap, the two are always on
me as soon as I sit down. It is so much fun to have both of
them. He had his stitches taken out on Monday and the vet said
everything looks good. He is so smart, he’s doing well with
potty training. We are working on manners, no begging when I
am eating, and sitting calmly for treats. I get attacked by
the two of them when its treat time!

Woody

Hello Kerri and Cathie,
First of all, Woody is
adjusting real well. We had a houseful of family (plus another
dog) over the weekend which was a total switch from his first
2 weeks here when it was just him, Willy and myself, and he
took it all in stride. David got home at 1 am this morning and
Woody is treating him like an intruder and barking at him
whenever he moves, so he's holding him and making of him off
and on so that he will get him used to him and not be afraid
of him.
It's a tough game to get the
deosyl into him but the milk thistle is easier as it looks
more like a tiny treat and it can be given with food, unlike
the denosyl. He's been on the milk thistle for a few days now
so hopefully it will help and the vet wants to retest him in
about a month. His appetite comes and goes though he's doing
better with the stainless bowl, and I've actually seen him
drink out of the water bowl a couple of times but only a very
little amount. I've ordered a small bag of the Royal Canin LS
food which hopefully will be in the beginning of this week
since the small bag that I brought home with him ran out a few
days ago. He was just starting to eat a bit of it when it ran
out so I'll probably have to work at him all over again to get
him to eat it. Neither he nor Willy think their own food is as
tempting as the others so it's a chore to keep them out of
each other's dish.
We've given up on the attempt
to housetrain Woody for now because standing out there in
subzero temps while he just looks at me like I'm nuts is not
my idea of fun. When it warms up we'll try harder with it but
it's diaper duty for now.
Willy is doing much better
and is almost back to acting like his normal self so I sure
hope that he stays that way. After he has the pepcid in the
evening he wants to eat off and on all night so it obviously
is making his stomach feel better. He goes back tomorrow or
Tuesday for a recheck on his albumin. It had come up slightly
last week which was a lot better because there wasn't even a
reading the first time they tested it.
Hope all is well with Remy
and the other little ones. Is he in his new home yet? I think
of him often and sure hope that he pulls out of this with no
long term effects.
Take care,
Carlene

UPDATE 2/12/2008:
Hello Cathie and Kerri, I
wanted to give you an update about Woody since it's been
just over a month that he's been with us now. He is such a
loveable little guy and we can't imagine what it would be
like without him. He and Willy still have their "tiffs" on
rare occasions but they are becoming closer as time goes
by. It's amazing to see
the positive changes in
him. He's thriving on being a part of the family and
being able to roam the house at will. He especially
likes sleeping in bed with us at night and wants to get
back on the bed all day. He's learned how to jump down
from the chairs/bed but still hasn't figured out how to
jump up onto them but I'm sure he'll get the knack of it
eventually from watching Willy. He's right on David's
heals all day while I'm gone to work but after I get
home he shuns him. Then once David picks him up to pet
him and make of him he falls asleep with him like
they're best buddies.
I've
included 2 pictures, one of the two boys in their beds
in front of the fireplace and another of the 2 of them
on the loveseat in front of the fireplace. One day
they both were laying together in just one of the beds
though they really are just big enough for one of them
and David tried to get a picture of them sleeping
together but they moved before he could catch them at
it. We're not sure who climbed in with who but it was
a definite step in the right direction for the 2 of
them. Though they have accepted each other they still
aren't "buddies" yet like Will was with your mini
schnauzers but I think it's only a matter of time.
Willy's blood work last week came back with a normal
albumin this time. It has increased drastically from a
reading that wasn't even showing any albumin at all so
we are very happy about that! He will be tested
again in about 3 weeks, at the same time that Woody
has his liver test. I'm mixing the Royal Canin hepatic
LS into the canned KD and Woody's eating it up most
times without any coaxing. Willy actually has a better
appetite though he's been the sick one and he's gained
back some of the weight that he lost while he was so
sick. I see on your website
that all of the dogs have been placed in homes. Can I
ask you what happened to little Regis, the poodle? He
looked so forlorn and I was hoping that someone would
give him a good home. I saw Remy's picture with his
new "mother" also and am curious how his health is now
and when he's scheduled for the hernia repair. He is
such a little cutie. Gotta go and thanks
again for bringing Woody into our life. He's a special
little guy.

Lexie

Hi Sue,
Hope you're enjoying the holidays. Lexie had a great time on
Christmas ... she got some new toys
and enjoyed ripping up paper. She knows every corner of the
house and every corner of the back yard. She's quite a character
... runs laps inside the house and out in the yard. She's also
becoming a bit of a watch dog ... likes looking out the front
door and barking at people who walk by. She leaves my side now,
but stays close by. She's used to all of us now, except she
won't go to my son unless I put her in his arms. He's such a dog
lover, so he feels a little frustrated that she scoots away.
Lexie is perfectly comfortable once he's holding her, but won't
go to him on her own yet. Sometimes I think she's actually
teasing him because she'll go right up to him, and as soon as he
reaches to pick her up she moves away ... she's very quick.
She's getting quite fuzzy ... I'll give her a bath soon, and
also look for a different groomer than the one I used before. I
want to be able to see where the grooming is done .. the one I
used before did a good job, but it was blocked by a wall so I
couldn't see anything. I'll be giving her the interceptor tablet
on Jan. 1st ... and also after the new year, I'll get the
prescription
from the vet and take her medical papers to him. I called
Artemis and they gave me another number
to try closer to me, so I'll take care of that after the new
year also. I brushed her teeth and she was very good ... I'll be
ordering the spray too. Maryellen called several days ago to
congratulate us for adopting Lexie. She asked me to e-mail her a
picture, which I haven't done yet, but I'll get to it soon. I
will do the same for you too shortly.
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND ALL THE BEST IN 2008!!!
